I think Karen's voice is the most beautiful female voice God ever created. The Carpenter's music had such an impact on my life. I am so grateful for their work. I am so sorry Karen was not able to find peace on earth.

More people than one might think have "good singing voices". What made Karen Carpenter such an irreplaceable jewel was that crystal-clear, bell-like purity of tone, that made you feel you were getting the distilled essence of each note and musical phrase she sang. That can't be taught. (As the track coach in "Chariots of Fire" so wisely said: "You can't put in what God's left out.") Like Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand, Karen was a once-in-a-generation treasure. Rest in.peace.

I am an amateur drummer and was born in December 1966. I grew up in the 1970s hearing The Carpenters all the time and as talented as I already knew they were, I only recently learned what a fantastic percussionist Karen was in addition to having a beautiful, unforgettable voice. My goodness, what an amazing talent and what a tragic loss for her family, friends and all of us who love the music. God bless you Karen.

Richard, and their mother, were the cause of Karen's Anorexia. His jealous controlling of her, and his mother's lack of love towards her. I hope he's come to terms with that, honestly, in his heart. She lived a tortured life and died oh, so young. RIP Karen. You were beautiful, inside and out. Such an amazing talent...

In the early 1990s, I was travelling through France with my family. My daughter was sitting next to me in the car, wife and son in the back. My daughter and I were chatting about a boy band that she liked. She asked if I liked any singers and I told her the story of Karen Carpenter and how much I loved her voice and her music. Soon, it was time to stop for a break and we pulled off the A26 into a service station where I detected a frostiness from the then Mrs BurfordBoy57. “Everything all right, love?” I innocently asked? “No!” She replied. “I’ve just spent the last half hour listening to my husband telling our daughter how he fancied another woman!” 😂

"It's Going to Take Some Time" is a song written by Carole King and Toni Stern for her 1971 album, Music. It was redone by the Carpenters in 1972 for their fourth album, A Song for You. According to Richard Carpenter, he had to choose which songs he wanted to remake, and there was a big pile of 7" singles he had to listen to. When he encountered "It's Going to Take Some Time", he knew it would be a hit, and recorded it. It peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Today i still sing along to just about every Carpenters song l hear. Richard and Karen were the quintessential definition of class, humility and TALENT. Most of today's artists dont even come close in any category when compared to the Carpenters. l'm so very glad to have been around when they were Superstars, but then, they will ALWAYS be Superstars to me. Btw, l'm a 57 y/o African-American who grew up in Fayetteville, NC across the lake from 1490 WFLB-AM Radio.

@@rondeneef - Richard Carpenter was the real musical genius behind this group. He found the right sound that you fondly did not recognize. Karen knew she would have made more money at the studio level. She enjoyed doing live concerts. And she sang every song on stage. The microphone loved her, even though she sang at a whisper. Richard found the right pitch to accommodate her voice. You can tank Richard for this.
Two things that are very uncommon today which also made them the biggest Superstars of the 1970's. She sang every song and she loved the live audiences. She found her happy zone in front of live audiences.
Her sudden death of anorexia also brought forth a silent killer among girls. She save a lot of lives because of a subject that was too taboo to talk about at the time, the Barbi Syndrome, a girl having a perfect socially acceptable body according to the fashion world. It was a lot more common then people thought at the time. A perfect body, and it was a killer.

Karen Carpenter flew in the highest orbit amongst the best female singers of the 20th Century! She was tremendously gifted with that beautiful voice and perfect diction. All too many of today's "singers" are all about screaming - which isn't singing at all. Karen's studio recordings have never gone away - and we are all very fortunate as a result. Bless her heart for always!

As it seems MORE love her now than ever, she was revered as one of the greatest singers since their debut album went viral in 1970. Between Summer 1970 & Fall 1971, we had heard, "Close To You, Only Just Begun, Rainy Days & Mondays; followed by Superstar" on the radio. Her voice became permanently etched in the hearts & souls of millions back then 😇😇😇.

It's gonna take some time this time
    To get myself in shape
I really fell out of line this time
    I really missed the gate
The birds on the telephone like, (next time)
Are cryin' out to me, (next time)
And I won't be so blind next time
    And I'll find some harmony
But it's going to take some time this time
    And I can't make demands
But, like the young trees in the winter time
    I'll learn how to bend
After all the tears we've spent
    How could we make amends?
So, it's one more round for experience
And I'm on the road again
And it's going to take some time this time
    And I can't make demands
    I'll learn how to bend
It's going to take some time this time
    No matter what I've planned
And, like the young trees in the winter time
    I'll learn how to bend
After all the tears we've spent
    How could we make amends?
So, it's one more round for experience

One day when I was a child, I awoke from a nap in the sound of music. The cassette tape played was the best album of Carpenters my parents had. When I listen to Carpenters, I remember Karen's voice on that day. I still have that cassette tape in my possession.

For some reason this is my favorite of all The Carpenters songs, I listened to it often back during the early 1970s when I was a kid. Brings me back with good memories every time I hear it, along with rest with her beautiful voice.

I'm in, if there was only one thing I could do with time travel, this would be it. No need to weigh up what else to do.
I met her a year before she died in Harrods, London. I am glad I said 'thank you ' but still wish I could have that day again and find the right words to make a difference.

Karen Carpenter ❤️🌹🌹 The voice of an angel, gone far too soon at the young age of 32. 😢 She’s now in heaven, forever young, forever happy, forever in peace with God. 🌺🌸🙏

@cyndaification An angelic voice without question. Her voice is timeless. What a beautiful spirit she was. I love her yet I never knew her. I bought the Carpenters "Best of The Carpenters" CD and have it on my ipod because listening to her voice literally soothes me like no other singer in this entire world can. Her voice is actually many things: It's soothing, gentle, smooth, sentual and melodic. She was absolutely wonderful. I miss her so much.

For some reason, I remember hearing this song a lot in my preschool years, back in the 70s. Maybe the preschool van driver played it a lot , or I heard it in the supermarket, or at the doctor’s office...But I heard it so much that I can remember being a little girl again

I'll always remember the Carpenters - not for the concert I attended, but for who was there "with me". I attended the concert with my second wife. The woman who - a few years later - would be my third wife, was sitting 2 rows in front of us, with her then "boyfriend". There were just empty seats between them and us, so I got a good look at her. I didn't know either of them, at that time. Some years later, we "compared notes" so to speak, about the concert, and I realized what happened. RIP, Karen.

I'm in love with the Carpenters music , it keeps me from snapping at work. The one thing I can't get out of my mind is that Karen's gone and we'll never have her back. If only someone could have told her how beautiful she really was. She didn't have to change a thing. I'll miss her always, RIP Karen
