  • Today I did a quick and easy fix for the Jeep’s stolen cat, and now we can temporarily get it back on the road.
I used a flexible pipe like this: amzn.to/3Ih5AqX
And these type of clamps: amzn.to/3Jz9i0J
Replacement Converter For a Permanent Fix: amzn.to/3ijjzli

25 years ago I worked at K-mart Auto, when we replaced a catalytic converter it had to be tagged with all the pertinent information . The recycler taking these cats for recycle is a criminal , the same as the thief stealing it.

      Some aren’t going to scrap.
It will be sold to someone else that lost a converter.
If the cat is mangled, the “pertinent information” will be ignored as accidental damage would be an acceptable reason why it’s being scrapped.

They will probably pay out on the car. We also did timing belt and water pump. She’s 17 and a good kid, but thieves don’t care about anything. I've installed mercury tilt sensors before and they work great. I'm sure new ones are solid state. It's better than an impact sensor because their sensitivity changes with temperature. Two reasons that is bad, you could tend to start ignoring it and also it may just not work in the cold. A tilt sensor is probably the best bet on such a low car. I'm sure it's cheaper than a cat. You can also install what are called pain generators in that area they are so loud no one would want to be working near it. It's better just to move on and get someone else. I'm almost positive this is just a run of the mill car alarm with a tilt sensor installed. Also helps stop your car from being stolen by flatbed or tow truck.

I would recommend to point those bolts sideways to avoid them scraping the ground, I understand you have a Jeep but if it's a car you don't want the bolts pointing down to scrape 👍

That won't pass an Emissions Inspection in many states.
If your state doesn't require an Emissions Inspection go for it!

Mine was stolen from my 97 4Runner... The flex repair pipes are only 18" so Idk what the hell I'm gonna do. I also have a 6' flexpipe I may try to cut, but it would be with a handsaw.

Stealing Catalytic Converters wouldn't be a problem if people didn't buy them. Illegal buyers are causing this sort of crime. Find the buyers and put them in prison. They should put serial numbers on the Catalytic Converter to track them.

It's not illegal buyers it's scrap yards buying them because they're full of platinum... It wouldn't happen if thieves didn't know they were worth a lot of money.

Unfortunately these scumbag junkies have no jobs and only time on their hands. They will just take the cats apart and farm out the precious metals.

This mod will also throw your computer out of whack as the exhaust NOX is not getting "converted" and the computer has to now compensate for this.
