Great video! I'm trying to do it, however the rock doesn't transform partially as empty moves in, instead the whole rocks transform into cloth gradually, I guess it's that weight paint isn't working? What should I do to make it work?

Hey, thanks for the message, the first things to check are that the 'proximity mode' on the Vertex Weight Proximity is set to 'Geometry' and that 'Vertex' is selected then the Lowest is set to 1m and highest is set to 1.1. with a falloff of 'Smooth' If this still doesn't fix it then head over to weight paint mode and play around with the highest and lowest figures to see how that effects the colour of the weight paint. Whats happening is that it doesn't have a defined line that goes from Red to Blue on the empty's edge, its probably only slightly turning the other colour and hence taking its time to apply the cloth modifier.

Hey, thanks for the message. Ok noted, it’s really hard to find a decent background vibe that is none offensive but also chilled and fitting… I’ll see what other things I can use for future vids

Just my personal taste, but I really dont appreciate tutorials that are literally "Do this, then do this.." No understanding is gained really. For example, the Force Field you applied halfway through, I have no idea what this is doing. I get that some people are fine to blindly follow step by steps, but I'd much rather tutorials actually taught me the why, behind the how.

Hey, thanks for the message and feedback. I understand what you are saying and will try to be more explanatory with the elements I’m using and describing. The force you mentioned is a minus force which pulls things towards it and is used to keep the cloth in the camera frame as the transition happens. Without it the cloth would float off screen so I used it as a sort of anchor for the effect.

@@allthingsmarvellous hey thanks for the fast reply. Actually I apologise, my language was a bit harsh, I still appreciated the tutorial! And thanks for explaining re the field force. I’moving over from C4D, so am always wanting to understand what’s happening in these tuts, as it helps me relate it to my knowledge of C4D. Much appreciated, thanks!

No probs! I understood where you were coming from. I’m using C4D too and maybe planning on doing some tutorials for that. It sure is a smoother experience for certain setups.

@@allthingsmarvellous Yeah really had enough of Maxon, time to embrace a proper community driven program like Blender.
