For anyone using the Blender 4.1+ please use a Noise Texture instead of the Musgrave and use these settings...

More of this!! Great job. Bravo.
Thanks! Will do!
so cleaaaan!!!
Hey! Stellar job! A real handy and clear lesson. Much obliged!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh wow, this is very useful and cool. Thank you !
Thanks, glad it was helpful!
Amazing tutorial, thanks mate! 🙌🏻
Thanks!
This is soooooo goood. I thank you very much for your video.
You're very welcome! Glad you liked it.
Awesome tutorial!
Thanks! Glad you like it
was looking for animation just like this!! so helpful, so genius! thank you so much!!!!!
Hey, thanks for the message, glad you found it useful!
Danke Master 3D!
Thanks!
Hey! Awesome video, love it! Thank you! I wanted to make the same effect on a sphere, but I don't know how to connect the nodes to the sphere
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I found the best way to achieve this is to continue to use the Volume cube but then use a Boolean to cut out the shape you want, here is a picture of how to connect the nodes to make it work www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/c0do4dc4lgqu2ae2oqc2z/BoolGlass.jpg?rlkey=va196otmcp0py1p6ichd1wpws&dl=0
hi!! love this, i wanted to do this audio reactive, what do you think should react with the sound? ive only done it with light and displacement! Thank you 😊
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I think using the W of the musgrave/noise may be a good place to start. As long as the other elements are slowly moving over the course of the animation too it would give a nice repetitive but evolving effect with the music. Let me know how you get on!
Great job, Would you be able to do this effect on an object or letter? thx
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I had a play around today to try to get something working and the best option I found was to add a Boolean in the GN setup. Just take the shape/letter you’d like to apply the effect, drop on the GN setup from the video and then add in a Boolean Mesh set to ‘intersect’ as shown in this picture.

Thank you very much I will do it here@@allthingsmarvellous
No worries, be careful as this does slow down the computer/file a bit but you should get what you need. I’m outputting a render at the moment to test it out.
I love you!@@allthingsmarvellous
Great Tut!
How long was the render time? I'm new to blender, could you please help with render settings?
Hey, thanks for the message. It was about 1min per frame and it was a 500 frame render so roughly 8 1/2 hours.
@@allthingsmarvellous ah great! Thanks for the response. I was at about the same render speed, thought I was doing something wrong haha!
Thank you very much!
For some reason the glass refraction is not showing up and remains gray.
How do I set up a scene world?
Hey, thanks for the message. You need to add an ‘Environment Texture’ as the background like a HDRI and turn up the strength to about 40-50 this should give you a bit of refractions in the glass, I used a ‘studio’ one which had a lot of white light which works best. polyhaven.com/a/studio_small_09
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I followed all of your steps but for some reason the glass refraction with the RGB doesn't show up...I set up the material group as needed. What did you input for the "world" scene? Could I please send you my blender file via email to help troubleshoot? :( new designer here!
Hey, yeah of course, send it to johnpaul@alibivinyl.co.uk and I’ll see if I can help.
Could you apply this effect to any mesh? And if so, could it be rigged to a skeleton? (I'm brand new to Blender, so sorry if this is an obvious question.)
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, The best option I found was to add a Boolean in the GN setup. Just take the shape/letter you’d like to apply the effect, drop on the GN setup from the video and then add in a Boolean Mesh set to ‘intersect’ as shown in this picture. As for putting it on a skeleton/armature im not sure how that would work... if it would at all.

How long did you render those 500 frames? I left rendering for overnight (500 samples, 0.1 noise threshold) and from 10 PM to 6 AM only 51 frames was done 😢
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I've just ran a quick test and 1 frame for me at 500 samples and 0.1 noise took 51 seconds , the frame was 1920x1920. I'm running a 3060. Importantly though i used Blender 4.01 when I tried the same file in Blender 4.1 it took 10x longer. For some reason the new version of Blender doesn't like glass/transparent stuff and struggles rendering those things quickly
@allthingsmarvellous okay, so maybe version of blender is the thing 🤔 I'll try the older one then, thanks for tutorial and response 😁
@GreenWaterT you’re welcome, let me know how it goes.
Are you available for commissioned projects?
Hey, thanks for getting in touch. Certainly, contact me on johnpaul@alibivinyl.co.uk so we can discuss further. Thanks
amazing tutorial, what if i need to do it on a sphere?

since musgrave became noise, this tut is not working
Hey, thanks for the message, all you need to do is swap the musgrave for the noise using these settings... www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2xy47g4m29wsfttlhkpoq/NoiseTex.png?rlkey=tsmdq4waqnxjxs83jn8cnaip6&dl=0
