amazing tutorial! One question though, is there anyway I can make all this hair fly away from the object and disappear?
I love it
Can only imagine how long the render took 😅
when I see similar designs which have been made in cinema 4D, the quality is really amazing..due to Redshift I suppose.. any ideas how to achieve this kind of quality in blender?
I think just higher render settings, bigger dimensions and higher resolutions but that will really increase the render times. It should come out just as smooth though
for the life of me i cannot find where the 'Volume Cube' geometry node is. using version 4.1
Hey, thanks for the message, you can use CTRL+A to do a search or its in Volume - Primitives in the geometry nodes menu
@@allthingsmarvellous 'Volume cube' is not appearing. if i type in 'Volume' the only option is 'volume mesh'
@HarryParker-z3n here is a link to a screenshot of where it is in the menu in blender 4.1. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fr9ebhf2vd2i8xc2gsu47/Screenshot-2024-07-09-16.31.14.png?rlkey=l4esjyz0egyf9fdf9nrykb3d5&dl=0
@@allthingsmarvellous i cannot see that. i only get the option for 'volume to mesh' is there something i can activate in the priorities to get what you're seeing. Would a regular cube work under 'mesh primitives'?
@@allthingsmarvellous Got to the bottom of it, i hadnt uninstalled my previous version of blender 😅
beautiful! How do people discover these node setups?
I tweaked the basic glass one from a previous setup that I original discovered from another TH-camr
I never realized how many colors appear inside thick glass when it refracts light. Very interesting.
I like this one more than the other
Thanks! Just trying out some different combinations :)
This is hyptonizing,
Thanks!
Lit
How long did you render those 500 frames? I left rendering for overnight (500 samples, 0.1 noise threshold) and from 10 PM to 6 AM only 51 frames was done 😢
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I've just ran a quick test and 1 frame for me at 500 samples and 0.1 noise took 51 seconds , the frame was 1920x1920. I'm running a 3060. Importantly though i used Blender 4.01 when I tried the same file in Blender 4.1 it took 10x longer. For some reason the new version of Blender doesn't like glass/transparent stuff and struggles rendering those things quickly
@allthingsmarvellous okay, so maybe version of blender is the thing 🤔 I'll try the older one then, thanks for tutorial and response 😁
@GreenWaterT you’re welcome, let me know how it goes.
Perfect! But rendering is gonna blow my pc up 🥲 and noise threshold can't be even 0.2 couse image looks blurry 😐
so cleaaaan!!!
Awesome, thanks
265 views?!?! What is the YT algorithm doing?! Keep up the amazing work dude. Your tuts are next level!
Thanks! Who knows with these things?!? Appreciate the comment though and I enjoy making them so lots more to come.
oh man that's such a great tutorial. gonna try it, hope my pc won't explode
Thanks! Appreciate the feedback. It’s quite a light build so your PC should be fine ;)
was looking for animation just like this!! so helpful, so genius! thank you so much!!!!!
Hey, thanks for the message, glad you found it useful!
hi!! love this, i wanted to do this audio reactive, what do you think should react with the sound? ive only done it with light and displacement! Thank you 😊
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I think using the W of the musgrave/noise may be a good place to start. As long as the other elements are slowly moving over the course of the animation too it would give a nice repetitive but evolving effect with the music. Let me know how you get on!
Good Heavens this was cool! How did you learn to be this good? you make it look so easy. Thanks again for the wonderful tut!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Wow this is beautiful! you are so kind to us helping us make this amazing art! I love your channel! now on my way to your materials video to get a material on this cool shape! you are awsome! I cant wait to watch your whole catalog, and im excited to see what you post next!
Thanks for the message, really appreciate you checking things out, hope you found something useful.
He's at it again! Keep up the great work!! Center shape is my favorite :)
Great work brother 🎉🎉❤
Thanks! Appreciate the support!
Thank you very much! For some reason the glass refraction is not showing up and remains gray. How do I set up a scene world?
Hey, thanks for the message. You need to add an ‘Environment Texture’ as the background like a HDRI and turn up the strength to about 40-50 this should give you a bit of refractions in the glass, I used a ‘studio’ one which had a lot of white light which works best. polyhaven.com/a/studio_small_09
Thanks for the great Tutorials!! Sometimes it would be nice if you Could explain a Little Bit more why you do things the way you do them. 😢 for example why the objects have to be that big? ✌️😊
Hey, thanks for the message, yeah sorry I’m trying to incorporate more explanation in my recent videos as someone else mentioned the same thing…. The reason all the stuff is really big is to give Blender the best possible chance of calculating the cloth simulation given there are lots of objects interacting with one another. When you are at a smaller scale you get a lot of errors and it crashes blender :)
Okay. I'm subscribing. Your content is way too cool!
Amazing thanks!
It's incredible how people, like yourself, work out node setups and values. It's like magic to me.
Hey, thanks for the message, appreciate the support!
thanks so much for this awesome tutorial John Paul! Made it through most of it :)
Thanks for the message, glad you got something from it!
Thanks so much for this tutorial! I followed all of your steps but for some reason the glass refraction with the RGB doesn't show up...I set up the material group as needed. What did you input for the "world" scene? Could I please send you my blender file via email to help troubleshoot? :( new designer here!
Hey, yeah of course, send it to johnpaul@alibivinyl.co.uk and I’ll see if I can help.
This is a cool node setup! Thanks for sharing. Where can I find the scratch file you used?
Hey, thanks for the message, sorry i forgot the link.... here you go.. www.poliigon.com/texture/scratches-light-001/1582
For anyone using the Blender 4.1+ please use a Noise Texture instead of the Musgrave and use these settings... www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/2xy47g4m29wsfttlhkpoq/NoiseTex.png?rlkey=tsmdq4waqnxjxs83jn8cnaip6&dl=0
It's really dope thank you❤
Thanks, glad you like it!
Nice!
Thanks!
top ! merci
Thanks for checking it out!
Are you available for commissioned projects?
Hey, thanks for getting in touch. Certainly, contact me on johnpaul@alibivinyl.co.uk so we can discuss further. Thanks
Great Tut! How long was the render time? I'm new to blender, could you please help with render settings?
Hey, thanks for the message. It was about 1min per frame and it was a 500 frame render so roughly 8 1/2 hours.
@@allthingsmarvellous ah great! Thanks for the response. I was at about the same render speed, thought I was doing something wrong haha!
men the tutorial is rly good - but please next time don't choose this weird background sounds....this wobbling drives me crazy....
Hey, thanks for the message. Ok noted, it’s really hard to find a decent background vibe that is none offensive but also chilled and fitting… I’ll see what other things I can use for future vids
Where is tutorial mate ?
Hey, thanks for the message, I’ll try and get one out in the coming weeks!
Here you go... th-cam.com/video/mZ_Cx13aPDk/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=AllThingsMarvellous
amazing tutorial, what if i need to do it on a sphere?
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, The best option I found was to add a Boolean in the GN setup. Just take the shape/letter you’d like to apply the effect, drop on the GN setup from the video and then add in a Boolean Mesh set to ‘intersect’ as shown in this picture. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/c0do4dc4lgqu2ae2oqc2z/BoolGlass.jpg?rlkey=va196otmcp0py1p6ichd1wpws&dl=0
Could you apply this effect to any mesh? And if so, could it be rigged to a skeleton? (I'm brand new to Blender, so sorry if this is an obvious question.)
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, The best option I found was to add a Boolean in the GN setup. Just take the shape/letter you’d like to apply the effect, drop on the GN setup from the video and then add in a Boolean Mesh set to ‘intersect’ as shown in this picture. As for putting it on a skeleton/armature im not sure how that would work... if it would at all. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/c0do4dc4lgqu2ae2oqc2z/BoolGlass.jpg?rlkey=va196otmcp0py1p6ichd1wpws&dl=0
Amazing! very clear and consise. Keep em coming like this :)))
Thank you! Will do!
how long to render? :)
I think it took about 4 hours roughly :)
Hey! Awesome video, love it! Thank you! I wanted to make the same effect on a sphere, but I don't know how to connect the nodes to the sphere
Hey, thanks for getting in touch, I found the best way to achieve this is to continue to use the Volume cube but then use a Boolean to cut out the shape you want, here is a picture of how to connect the nodes to make it work www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/c0do4dc4lgqu2ae2oqc2z/BoolGlass.jpg?rlkey=va196otmcp0py1p6ichd1wpws&dl=0
Hi, Thank you very much for your experiment. This is great !!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey, do you have the 3D file??
I will dig out the file and send over.
This is soooooo goood. I thank you very much for your video.
You're very welcome! Glad you liked it.
Awesome tutorial! But can you make one for beginners as well, this one is a little advanced! Thank you!
Hey, thanks for the message. Sure, I’ll try to think of a different way of using that force and do a more in depth tutorial for beginners.
Amazing tutorial, thanks mate! 🙌🏻
Thanks!
How do you get the texture added but I give it a clip and it doesn't get added I do everything the same with the video can you help me which button do I have to press for it to be added?
Hey, you need to have 'Node Wrangler' enabled in blender. This will allow you to use shortcuts to add textures and coordinates. Once this is enabled one of the options is to select the principle BSDF and then CTRL-SHIFT-T and a file window will open up, from here you can select all the texture files colour, roughness, normal etc and then it will connect the texture to the BSDF as shown in the video. Hope this helps
