- These Nostalgic Forgotten Racing Games are definitely worth playing...well okay, maybe not that forgotten, but they are definitely not as fresh in our memories as they deserve to be! From more common games like Midnight Club, to the more obscure Cell-shaded beauty that is Auto Modellista, this list will hopefully showcase something new, or maybe, something you've played yourself, but have buried somewhere deep within your mind. Now's the time though, time to dig up that old PlayStation or Xbox, and fire up some nostalgia!

Auto Modellista and Midnight Club 3 were my own footage. I played them on PC in order to enhance their graphics x3 and scaled them to 1080p, which is why they probably look smoother than you remember.

@@SkullcrusherGamingTV well apparently the rating,reviews or sales weren't as expected for MCLA also employees were overworked and not comfortable with their job of how hard it was to operate in the studio. So Rockstar San Diego disbanded and we will never get a Midnight club ever again.
Need for Speed Prostreet: Ridiculously hard races, combines street and track racing. Has common tuner cars, some super/hyper cars and of course, ricing

All time favorite racing game. Drifting in that game is the most satisfying thing ever.
Need for Speed Prostreet was really underrated. It was a really cool game and I absolutely loved the drag racing with the burnout meter and wheelie competition. I even remember my unbeateable tuned high 5 second 70' challenger. This video brought up so much nostalgia.
I still enjoy Pro Street, even though it has a lot of shortcomings and issues.
But yeah, the era of good racing games is over, as the market is shrinking and the games get worse and worse.
Need For Speed is dead, no new Midnight Club, only stale sims and sim-cades.
I remember my 6-7 second 240sx. Good gosh I loved that game. I always tried to reach 260MPH in my Ford GT, but it kept getting air on the speed tracks.
The game has its issues, but you can overlook them. I learned to love the physics engine and the ambiance is unbeatable. If there's one game I'd love to teleport into, it would be Prostreet without any hesitation!
Plus, since I have it on PC, I managed to get mods that fixed the notorious continue button bug and I also got rid of the 250 mph/403 km/h speed limit. Massive plus, although I do have to say the old speed limit had its flair (outside of the Veyron, you didn't have a fastest car since there were a whole bunch that could reach 250)
I just wish we could get a second one that finds a way to add free roaming (each track could have a free roam around its area and you could travel between each track via airplane) and a deeper story, but within this same universe, one that lets you really dive into the world!
And don't waste your time on the graphics. They are absolutely perfect as they are. Take more resources to develop other aspects of he game
Undercover is more underrated, bc shitty physics and weird graphics (tbh I actually enjoy it)

Yo bladed, forgetting Split Second? The game is literally burnout directed by Michael Bay on an unlimited explosives budget
Is really rewarding when you save your explosion meter to max and change the layout of the stage on the last lap and blow over 3 cars at the same time
My childhood all around racing game, along with Sega Rally and DiRT 2. Split/Second was definitely the best arcade racer EVER.
OK i got that game for my PSP a few jears ago and it is so awsome and i also habe midnight Club e dub edition i love these two games so much
Blur is an underrated game and I still play it with my brothers and with my friends when they come over. It was such a cool game! It was like mario kart but with real cars and the racing is more realistic.

Project Gotham Racing had Forzavista before Forzavista even existed.
Kinda, you could only see the cars, you couldn't open the doors, get inside the cars or any other stuff that Forzavista let's you do, so it's only like half Forzavista.

Auto Modellista was a fantastic game. I had loads of fun playing the game. A few other racing games that I’d find to be a bit underrated would be Tokyo Extreme Racer (0 and 3) and Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift (an extremely unexpected gem that I spent hours playing). There are quite a few great racing games out there that don’t get the attention deserved.
Man I love Midnight Club I beat Los Angeles only thing is you have to have a reactions of a housefly to dodge the traffic but man did that EMP really come in handy when I was about to lose a race
What about Blur it was a really fun game but sadly was underrated. It was big part of my childhood and I still play it today.

Blur is awesome. it had a track on Brighton seafront & I could see the building where I worked & even the window my desk was by. never saw them racing though so they must have done the races at night time.

one that still lives on my memory is Ridge Racer Type 4, God that last race at night was sweet....
most old ridge racer games before 2006 were amazing. well until ridge racer became something it wasnt but we’ll ignore that part
Project Gotham Racing 2 will always be one of my favs. Great physics, great graphics and tons on content for a low price !
I remember buying Auto Modellista in my freshman year of high school twelve years ago. I still have the copy of the game and play it every now and then. When I hear the menu music it reminds me of those days of being young and carefree.
Auto-Modellista certainly reminds me of another Korean MMORG that I played, Drift City. It also has cel-shade aesthetics, and the physics are a bit questionable in retrospect, but hey, you can free-roam around and put on your own music!
Project Gotham 2 had me dying for a Ferrari Enzo. I loved looking at it in the showroom

you just had to go to “tune my vehicle” and throw the drift slider all the way up and the traction slider all the way down and BOOM youre driving on ice
The el camino was the easiest car to drift out of all of them
my 96 Impala SS fully upgraded except tires drifts so easily the roar gauge filled out near instantly
PGR4 is still the best racing game I’ve played. You can actually pick your opponents cars!

Omg, Midnight Club 3 was the shit back in the day. I can’t tell you how many nights I would stay up late and play it as a kid.
Couldn’t go back to it now though, modern graphics have spoiled me.
Hell, even for the PS2 they look good.
I completed both versions of the game (standard and remix) and those multiple point races that didn't have a route to follow were the worst.
Tomi Vuori I HATED those, if I remember correctly there were also series races. It was like a ridiculous amount of races you had to complete in one go.

@@SkullcrusherGamingTV yeah clubs with each category (muscle, tuner etc.) having 15 races to complete to unlock special secret cars, the tuner club was the best to complete it gave you an R34 which was the only C class to go 250mph and its kinda OP.
@@sneakysnake7695 actually the maximum speed limit I reached on the R34 was 299.9 (aka the capped speed limit of the game)
@@Alex68dash the speedometer would limit at 250, it was still OP and a good choice to use in Tokyo if you had the remix version of the game

Seeing the speed lines and over-exaggerated effects while drifting in Auto Modellista immediately brought out my inner Eurobeat. I really want to play that game now.

Test Drive Unlimited...maybe? The one set in the Hawaian island (Honolulu?.. not sure). I played it on Xbox360 and man I loved that game
i still have it on PC, and with the project reality mods which adds 400+ cars, new upgrades, and some other things :D

From what I've seen Auto Modellista is held in high regard in the Gran Turismo community, especially the ones who started playing between 1-4. That's where I picked the game up for GameCube and it's beautiful
Used to rip around drift city for hours in my Dodge Durango. God I miss that game...
But it was really fun after I beat the game just to like going to the garage buy any car I could want for free and just go nuts with the customization

Blur is a great underrated arcade racing game made by the same people who made the PGR series (Bizarre Creations). It's basically Mario Kart on steroids but with licensed cars. Go check it out if you can. It's for 360, ps3 -triple- , and steam.

I saw Auto Moddelista on the thumbnail and liked the video before it even started. I love that game so much.
Auto modelista I played for years as a kid. Also having your own garage and decorating it with retro oil cans and posters and shelves etc was great so great and the main menu music was so sensual and the narrator was great too. All aspects were 10 outta 10 on that game.

Agreed. Most often it just feels like you are trying to commandeer a boat on the track whenever you want to take a corner. Most other aspects of the game is nice though, and I really enjoyed the arcade-esque possibilities. Have very fond memories of setting custom games in the small figure 8 track with max amount of cars and highest performance level, and just see the mayhem unfold as everyone tries to cross the middle of the "8" at the same time and cars are just flying in the air and broken bodypanels lie everywhere xD
For someone new, it's hard to handle. But once you understand the driving physics, you'll fly around the track very fast.

Before NFS Shift Series, Slightly Mad Studios was the original team at SIMBIN. They made the legendary SIM racing titles GTR, GTR2 and GT Legends. The original GTR game was based off a mod they did for EA's F1 2002. Funny how they went full circle with EA then ditch them to recreated another studio to make SIM racing games.
I remember when I bought project Gotham racing for $15 in 2011 before I went overseas .

I have enjoyed your videos for quite some time, I find them informative and amusing. I have also noted your love for Anime. However One thing I often notice is your Logo. I am going out on a limb here, but that looks a lot like the ISAF insignia form Ace Combat 4
3:32 as soon as the track loaded, i instantly thought that it was Gran Turismo 4, but there was a motorcycle in it. Then he said that it was developed by Polyphony Digital and it all made sense. Damn, i love Nurburgring and i still play GT4.

The PGR series is my fav of all time. The start to PGR4 is class, ST Petersburg Russia is a awesome track. Microsoft are scumbags for ditching it.
I agree, PGR4 still hasn't been beaten imo, everything from the weather/road conditions to the fact that it had bikes and it did the bikes well. They focused on Forza and made it a great franchise. Then Bizzarre closed down and many of the employees went on to create Playground games which is why the Horizon series is so good. They even have a track from PGR in Horizon 4 which was a lovely touch.
Anyway, i really miss PGR too.

What about the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series? Have you ever played it? My favorite racing game is TXR Drift 2 and is tied with SWBF2 on the PS2.
Driveclub Is an underrated game but it is still pretty new compared to the games of this list
I really can't find anything good on that game, the physics suck, the sounds have too much echo for my liking and the good graphics are basically of way too much color saturation
And I've played every single game mentioned, and I love the fuck out of Tourist Trophy (I own a copy - one of the best retro purchases I've made in a while). To be fair, however, I've only gotten to play Auto Modellista at a friend's house, and just once. I loved it though. Also, I love racing games that have semi-realistic graphics; I'm a huge fan of the Ridge Racer series, for one example (I wish there was a PC or console port of Rave Racer).
I also love Midnight Club; I have MC3 Dub Edition Remix, and somewhere, a 100% completion save file.
There are emulators around. You can somewhat play ridge racer from ps3 and psp using an emulator. The only issue is looking for rom files(the softcopy of the games). It is very difficult to find these days. I still play games like Monster Hunter Portable 3rd on my PC when nostalgia hits hard.
I used to beat the shit out of my PS2 with Tourist Trophy, hands down the best bike racing game ever released.

The best part of Project Gotham racing 3 was filling up your garage with cool cars and walking around admiring them.
Project Gotham Racing 2 & 4 are still my favorite racing games period, with the 2nd game looking brilliant for a 6th generation of consoles games that truly showed the potential of the original Xbox, since most games couldn't because the main focus was in the PS2. The 4th game is no slouch either in the technical department, for a 2007 game, it still looks really good, better than Forza 2, which was released in the same year, aswell as being a better game.
PGR 4 also had really good weather, it had everything, sunny, cloudy, rain and even snow, fucking snow!!! In a 2007 racing game, it took Forza 9 more years to implement it, heck, it took them 8 years to implement rain.
Pgr3 was also great, with a interesting way to make career mode interesting, and lots of awesome cars

GT5 is actually one of the most successful PS3 exclusives so I think its done pretty well for itself. And in my opinion, I think GT6 is the worst of them all. Some of the decisions made for that game are utterly baffling.
Here's my two honorable mentions that are criminally underrated:
Lotus Challenge (2001) by Kuju Entertainment: Plenty of licensed Lotus cars including the historic ones such as the iconic Esprit from "Lotus Turbo Challenge" also featuring the Proton Satria and Opel Carlton. You can join in lots of events or performing stunts for movies and advertisements. Decent graphics and physics. Twenty circuits to race. And finally, licensed soundtrack by Hybrid such as "Accelerator", "Joyrider" (Game's theme song) and "Theme From Wide Angle".
Total Immersion Racing (2002) by Razorworks (who also did Ford Racing 2 and 3): Respectable simcade gameplay and graphics for it's time of release, seventeen cars from three categories (GT, GT-S and Prototype) including the BMW M3 GTR. Average engine sound design. Decent OST. Aggressive AI who tends to block your path and bump your car. Great controls even on the PC version. Also featuring the ability to tune your car before taking it to the track. Overall, it's a budget ToCA Race Driver but surprisingly pretty decent at it's best.
I Looooved Auto Modelista! It was a fresh break away from the run of the mill hyper realistic graphics of the time which weren't that great to begin with. I loved the lineup of cars and mod system. I too hope someone will develop a modern take on this anime-style art.

When did I imply that? You can do a fully MC3 play through with it. So obviously it's mesothelioma powered engine combined with it's plastic wire suspension makes it the best car in the game!

blur is one of the most underrated racing games ever imo. It's like Mario Kart and Need For Speed had a baby.
Thanks and my first racing game I ever was Test Drive 5. It's where I met the Dodge Viper and it will be my all time favorite car.
project gotham aged beautifully, forza doesnt have time vs kudos, cone challenges, overtake challenges, cone bowling, speed camera challenges, or a point system that encourages combos, forza isnt even sim-cade, minor assists doesnt mean the game is an arcade game

Test Drive Unlimited 2 is on my list for sure, love it, wish there was another game like it besides vaguely Forza Horzion series
I agree on the anime part, I would love to not only see more animated racing games, but the ability to create your own driver, making male or female, skin, hair, and eye color, as well as hair style, and a whole lot of car modifications.

I bought a PSP after boot camp in 2005 and bought Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition. Spent many nights in the barracks playing that with my headphones in. Loading times were atrocious but the game was fantastic.
