    I bought 5-GW, AW with the True Temper Elevate ETS 95 shaft (I tried the graphite shaft but did not like it nearly as much) and have played two rounds with them. Longest irons I have ever had, but with high ball flight and really good feel and sound for a game improvement iron. Actually, I am elated with them. Callaway delivered them to me in one week, custom built, 1" long, 2* upright, midsize grip with two wraps. You are right about getting the GW and AW - this is really needed and my last wedge is a 56* sand.

    Great review! I’ve watched several reviews on this club and this is the best one yet. I really appreciate the in-depth look at the stock shafts as well as the heads! Nice job!

    Dude nice break down. Great explanation of the technology and the integral mechanics inside the clubs that are obviously sealed vs cavity back. Over all assessment was awesome.... Thx

    Great video and thank you for taking the time out to talk about a good fit for a female golfer not just assuming it would be the 'W' club👏👏👏 I love all the tech talk! 💪Thank you 😊

    Thanks for an in-depth review/analysis of the Mavrik Iron range Jim, sounds like Callaway could just about accommodate most golfers across that range.

    I’m 68 years and I bought the max set with the senior shafts ( catalyst 55 or 5.0 ) with a 7 iron swing speed of 65mph to 70mph. I just can’t seem to get my 7 iron distance over 120 yards is this normal? Or should I have gotten the standard shafts. I really enjoy your knowledge and the way you explain things. Thank you and keep hitting them in the fairway

    I just wonder when distance irons will finally be over. Lofts keep getting stronger and stronger. I want my irons to go a standard distance not 20 yards further. Let’s keep a 7 iron a 7 iron and not a 5 iron. I don’t want to hit my 7 iron 185 yards. I want consistency and distance control. Loft is our friend. Why are we marketed clubs that are unfriendly? Great review of the Maveriks though.

    • @chr1srugby
      @chr1srugby 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The loft is irrelevant though if a 27 degree mavrik 7 iron launch and descends at the same angle as a different 32 degree 7 iron but goes 30 yards further then you have an advantage because it'll be easier to stick landings to greens from further out.
      The loft being stronger is a result of the club being so good at launching the ball.
      I just got fitted to replace my old ping g20s and the launch angles were similar but my new mavrik 7 iron carried 35 yards more on average which is amazing considering it was coming in just as softly as the pings.

    Thank you for the in depth review! I love how you gave a up close 360 degree view of the clubs, I haven’t seen that in many TH-cam videos. I would suggest laying a piece of felt or black paper under the club that doesn’t have any texture or pattern. That spinning made me dizzy! Lol keep up the good work!

    When heating and removing a hollow foam filled club head, do you take any special precautions? I have fears of "melting" the foam or microspheres inside. I wrap the main club head in a cold damp rag as I heat the hozel. TaylorMade says that is ok. Just curious on what you think. Love your videos, thanks!

    • @McGolf

      Using the butane torch applies heat very locally. And only in short bursts will work I certainly would not use a leg propane unit for the reason you fear

    What shaft will help me get to D0 with tour wrap 2g undersize? Stiff flex. Open to any material. Might cut down 1/2 inch. The cut down might get to D0 on its own right?

    Enjoyed your review. I love golf clubs too! I picked up a used set of the std Mavrik. Has the True Temper Eval 95. Great set of irons. I do struggle slightly with the offset, so I need to be careful of the dreaded hook. Especially in the mid irons. Wish they did that exact set with less offset. I suppose if a weakened the loft slightly that would reduce offset? Thanks again!

    Looks like a very special ferrule. Does Callaway sell ferrules for shaft replacement? Are these taper tips? Great review.

    Great job! I am trying to decide if I need to look at changing out my Epic Flash 3 wood for a Mavrik 3 wood. From some information I have seen the Mavrik does produce better distance and I mean 10+ yards. Your thoughts on that .

    This is a great review. I might be trading in my Titleist T300’s for these standard Mavrik irons. I hit Callaway irons longer than other brands (I’m a 54-year old 10 HC with very average distance). My current Titleist irons have Oban CT-115 R+ steel shafts. Can you tell me which Callaway stock or custom buy-up shaft is most like that? I tried graphite iron shafts w the Titleist and it was a playing disaster (actually the shaft was the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Red AM2 (Regular)). It felt completely different and way too light to me with zero feel and I went back to Oban. Just looking for any suggestion as i like the idea of moving to graphite but it has to be similar in feel to Oban. If you could recommend a comparable steel and a graphite shaft, that would be great. Awesome review again.

    Does that mean that because AI is used to develop individual faces for each iron that the need to mix sets so that there are more forgiving longer irons is no longer needed?

    • @McGolf
      @McGolf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Type of head still plays an important factor is selection. Longer irons typically need to be more forgiving as we cant hit them as well as short clubs. the face it made to enhance those designs

    Give it 10 years and you'll be seeing bags half full of "wedges". Like a 30* 9 iron before a Pitching wedge, Approach wedge, Gap wedge, Utility wedge before a 54* Sand wedge.
