    Texas Dave of the ‪@RallyReady‬ gives us an introduction to left foot braking and why it is critical to your rallying success due to the nature of the sport for not just stopping your vehicle but also ensuring it is positioned correctly before and during cornering.
    In this first lesson of four at the Rally Ranch, we will apply the left foot braking technique to some straight-line braking exercises in order to start to train our brain on where to position our left foot and also how to modulate it more than the simple 'up or down' usage it tends to see on the clutch pedal.
    As well as this technique you will learn how to start thinking more about your hand position on the wheel while cornering which is very different from normal street or circuit driving and just like straight-line braking it is something best started in a low-speed situation.
    It doesn't matter if you're in a UTV, rallycross, rally sprint, hill climb car, off-roader, FWD, AWD, RWD or your mums Honda Odyssey, these techniques will apply.

      The man, the legend eh! Andre and Dave go way back to when Andre thought he needed to wear a shirt: th-cam.com/video/be1WSc_cCog/w-d-xo.html
      I'm glad those days are gone, as it also means that I do not have to wear a shirt 😂
      Keep an eye out for the next few and depending on where you're at with your own driving maybe you'll learn a new way to scare the crap out of Dave on your next trip to the ranch - Taz.

    Left foot braking also stops stalling if you lock up and gets you on boost quicker.
    I still brake with my left driving automatics on the road, a hangover from carting.

    I developed the left foot braking habit as an off-road log truck driver.

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Got to be a bit of a nerve wracking occupation at times. It's impressive where you fellas swing those trucks and loads around. Probably not much good in a rally, but there's videos like this and Daves Rally Ranch for that 🤘- Taz.

    Btw, what happend with that employee that was building a rallycar?

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Brandon, he's still building it, but he's saving up some more money for the next push so not a huge amount has happened (at least not visually. He's done a lot of seam welding).
      In the meantime him and a few of the boys here have been building a 180hp Honda City. I'll see about starting a build thread.
      We dialed back the vlogs sadly due to time constraints 😔 - Taz.

      There is , as always, too few hours in a day.
      It's nice with down to earth builds as it's hard for most people to relate (and pay) to billetblocks, Motec, Holinger and so forth though very interesting.
      Anyway, I'm enjoying your material ☺

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes it doesn't take much to build a bit of a bill when it comes to setting something up eh!
      We'll probably have a bit of content out on the City before Brandon manages to do a Starlet update, will see how it goes.
      The City will run a Maxx ECU and PDM as well which we will do Worked Example on for the course material. A few things on it are a bit more than average, but it's also a rough as guts Honda City with a B18C squished in it, it's never going to be a big budget car 😅
      Here's a clip of Brandon giving it it's first run out on the weekend. Brake bias and a torn CV boot were really the only 2 things that stopped it from being trouble free, so not that bad all things considered: th-cam.com/video/unAptu0NH2k/w-d-xo.html
      It's about 12 seconds faster than my rather stock NA MX5 on road tyres for a comparison.
      Anyway, more info than you needed or probably wanted, but that's what we're up to behind the scenes here at the minute either way - Taz.

    • @IngeBall
      @IngeBall 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice!
      MaxxEcu is a competent system with a nice pricetag.
      I guess Brandon might need a push so LET'S GO BRANDON! (like he never heard that one 🤣)

    • @hpa101
      @hpa101  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He certainly needs a bit of a boot and some less distraction, he'll get there and hopefully the holidays prove a help in that respect too 😎 - Taz.

    Always left foot brake unless down shifting...
