Great and Clear expanations though i might add if you installed the game from EA, not origin or steam then to find your dragon age files its in Program files(NOT Program Filesx86) and its inside EA games
The game should be removed from steam until they can get it working. If you pay $30 for a game it should work without having to use 3rd party mods just to get it to not crash every 2 minutes.
@@xxkaitocookixx8983that doesn’t mean it should a: be 40 dollars (where I live it’s 40 dollars on steam) and b: shouldn’t even be put on steam if it isn’t going to work, doesn’t matter if the game is 15 years old. They shouldn’t sell it for such a high price only for it to not even work.
Thank you very much! I want to play all the Dragon Age games on Steam to get ready for Veilguard and was having fun with Origins until it just wouldn't load my game without crashing. This was a great guide and an easy fix.
Thanks so much for this! I copped the series on Steam for this last summer sale and was furious that my $4k rig somehow couldn't run this game without crashing lol
I was having the "game already running" problem, and this patch fixed it! Thanks for the short video! Having to do all this shady stuff, just to play a game I already paid for is so ridiculous! No wonder people turn to piracy...
I was hoping they would make a remaster of "Dragon Age: Origins" instead. So that we can play it in higher graphics quality, while being able to play it on Windows 11.
So, that first link under pre-patched is done for you. No need to download and run the NTCore patcher. That's if you want to do it yourself (hence the DIY mentioned there). Backup the current exe you have, because backups are a good precaution in general :P Then replace the exe with the patched one. The thing I read from another user that helped me was to pin the actual exe to start, and run that directly. I tested this 3 times, keeping my game on max graphics, and had no issues getting back in. I was crashing in freaking Lothering, and my DA Redesigned mods are glitching even on full Medium.
Thos brought my game from stuttering at 6-15 fps on a 4060, up to the 180fps where it belongs. And fixed all my texture issues. Makers gay blessings upon you.
Found this just now, great help. Was seeing so many different "fixes" this seemed to be the one that helped, additioanlly i didn't need top set the affinity to 1 core. Your mileage may vary
thanks you so much. all the other video guides did not help. it was still crashing. it was the only enabling just one core from the cpu is what stopped the crashing
So it fixed itself and reloaded. I was able to get into the settings and made the texture quality low. As for the last step unfortunately I couldn't do that but I'll attempt to see if I can make sure it keeps running. And thank you for posting this video tutorial.
This helped a lot thank you so much for making this I've been having trouble with the game crashing every time i hit continue or moved a few feet and this fixed it completely.
Thank you, the Steam guide helped, but I experimented a little (new info on the end): - W10, i9-9900K, GoG version, modded - I used 4 cores instead of 1, it helped a lot with framerate. - I use max texture detail setting, doesn't seem to have any issues (after 2 hours I didn't see any texture problems, like before and no crashes) So now the game looks fine (for its age), runs fast and not crashing. Edit: After further experimentation, I saw no reason to modify the texture quality nor the processor core affinity. The game runs stable with max texture quality and with 16 (max) cores. The main thing was it seems the usage of that modified game exe file.
It's not often i write a comment on youtube, but thank you! i was about to lose my mind. I did not have to lower the graphic settings and change the cpu to fix my issues. After installing the two patches was i golden. Thanks a lot.
You're a life saver! Ty so much for you video, I was about to uninstall the game For me, just downloading the patch and replacing the file was enough to get it working at max settings without crashing. Before patching even running on the lowest I couldn't get past the 1st cutscene XD Tyty ^^

I don't know what to call it, its has Dragon Age characters in it but its like been sprinkled with Marry Poppins goo.
THANK YOU!! After watching 3 different videoes on how to install the 4gb patches i have to say, yours made the most sense! I could not for the life of me get the patch files to overwrite the original game file correctly by the other methods. Yours was simpel and easy to follow for a newbie, so thanks again! The only alternative method that i did was to download the unencrypted daoorigins.exe through Nexus and not via the steam LAA dropbox. Don't know if it made a significant difference tho
God Jesus I’ve put off fixing and replaying this game for almost a year now because of how confused it all made me with the tech speak some people used (I’m new to computers and actually delving into files and documents) and this made my life so dang easy being able to watch you go through all the steps in a consice and clear manner THANKYOUUU
So i have to play a 15 year old game with texture detail turned all the way down on a RTX 4090 or else it will crash? I don't think i want to buy it if this is the case. I used to play a pirated copy of this game on a GTX 970 with no issues.
@@KattycatJane that's really unfortunate. I have a feeling that if Bioware wasn't owned by EA, these issues would've been fixed. All three games can be purchased on steam right now for ten bucks (total, not each), which would be a great deal, but I decided to stay away from all of them after reading about so many issues with the games and their stupid launcher, which shouldn't be necessary. Supposedly, The Veilguard won't require their dumb launcher so maybe I'll play that one when it comes out. I just wanted to play the others first so I'm pretty disappointed that they can't be bothered to fix the issues.
Is anyone else just getting a black screen on startup? The music still plays and I can hear my cursor hovering over the options but it's black screen. I did it with/without mods and with the patch but nothing is working. I have it on steam if that helps..
