I've had my G4 for about 8 months now. I'm really happy with it and don't regret my purchase at all. Regarding the plastic back and slippery feel, I got a Tech 21 case that solves that for me. It protects from minor drops and my 1 year old. The expandable storage has allowed me to load my entire music collection on my phone, which has been a huge benefit. I haven't used the replaceable battery. I'm rarely away from a charger for too long either at work or at home. I see it as more of a long term benefit to be able to swap out a new battery once the current one starts to age. I love the camera and use it daily.

+Kley De Jong it's indeed a great device I only had 2 problems with it.. when I upgraded to Marshmallow I had an error that was always popping on UI and I had to restore it to factory defaults and it was fixed, and another one that obviously still persists is it's GPU, unfortunately a low performer on heavy gaming as Josh said too...
I can still do more things with my LG G3 than the new iPhone7.

Love this phone, but my original G4 and my replacment G4 died from the bootloop issue. I'm stuck using an old Galaxy S4.

Just ordered one for $179. Hoping I like it enough to replace my 2013 motoX. I wanted a OP3, but at $399 I thought I'd give the G4 a try.
Update us... specifically me lol. I loved my 2013 and replaced it once, love moto x so much ended up getting the moto x 2014 and still have it. I heard great things about the camera on the g4. Let me know your thoughts on this phone because I have been eyeballing it to replace my moto x too.

I really really liked the G4. I bought mine in 2015 so it came with the faulty motherboard. I got the bootloop error earlier this year in February and I sent it to them, got it back 2 weeks later in working condition again. However, just two weeks ago, I got another bootloop problem and had to send it back again. C'mon LG, really disappointed that they didn't 100% fix it the first time. So inconvenient. But i really do love this phone, just wished I didn't get the faulty product. :(
oh my god! me too! i am in the same boat as you. i love LG and stick with them. its just that i am sick of that issue too. my phone completely died on my yesterday. as in dead, nothing, nada, a done deal. now i am literally out of a phone. so i feel your pain.

Ali Sidhu I now have the LG v10. It is nice. It's just that the battery is all the fucked up. It won't stay charged for more than 4 hours if used occasionally. That means Internet, facebooking, telephone, TH-cam-ing, etc. Looking into that solution...😒

On my second G4. The first one fell victim to the bootloop issue.
I mean, it's an awesome phone but they do have a failure rate that is somewhat higher than what I'd consider normal.
D13H4RD2L1V3 Bootloop is solved easily and does not require a new device. Flash the factory .img file and you are done.
+Coach Look into the issue some more, it's a lot more than that. Basically bricks the device. That will usually solve a bootloop, but I believe this is a hardware defect.

Coach It's not a software issue. It's a hardware issue in the case of the G4.

If anyone has the bootloop issue and needs to recover stuff or delete stuff.there is a way you can turn it on for a couple of minutes! I did it to mine!

+Abdullah Shafique okay look. Turn on the phone let it bootloop once. Then plug in the charger and leave the phone charging while it loops. Once the battery is fully charged. The phone should turn on. It worked for me

This is one superb phone. I have to say that I made the best choice buying this one over the competition. Cannot really think of any flaws that it might have. This will still hold strong for another 2-3 years, guaranteed.

I had to end up selling it as parts and buying an LG Nexus 5X until I decide on my next phone (S7 Edge, Xperia X, or LG G5)

I happily bought an unlocked ($379.99) G4 from G2 and i couldn't be more happier. Got it from bestbuy. I know G series are beast. I'll be using this for the next 3 years atleast for my money worth. I won't be bothering getting new phone every year. Love LGs
I've bought this phone for $200 brand new and put in a powerbear 6500mah battery as well... I've had no issues and am very happy with much purchase. LG's phone game it's strong!

+Teguh Hakim it probably is better than the G5 but if it is The GF must be shockingly Crap on Battery Life !, I Used The G4 In Work honestly I struggled to get a full day out of it . I'd charge it overnight soon as I woke up take it off and didn't use it , as soon as I left to go to work with it id check the battery and without using it 8 percent was already gone ! And I haven't used it at all . It's a good phone but battery is terrible I sold mine within 6 days .

My LG G4 has overheating issues. It heats up rapidly when just using simple applications. Waiting for the Marshmallow update. Hope it will fix this. Does anyone else out there face this sort of problem?
+Ferdous Shahriar That's not actually an issue. I've owned LG phones since my first smartphone and LG is never very good at thermal management. The Marshmallow update doesn't seem to change much of anything on the G4. In fact, if you use a Knock Code with fewer than 6 taps, or that doesn't use 3 out of the 4 tiles, I would actually recommend leaving your device on Lollipop.

It looks like the g4s that were made in 2016 don't have bootloop issues. I actually bought 2 because I have a feeling that high end android phones with a removable battery are becoming extinct. No bootloop issues so far. They are going for 300 unlocked on amazon and they are running on Marshmallow. You can't find a 300 dollar phone that's better than this.
Im planning to buy this but afraid that the unit i might buy is manufactured last year hmmm and yeah i like the remove\able battery. Lg stores here in the philippines dont sell g4 anymore.
The one that they sell on amazon for 300 is unlocked but it only works in the usa.
we have an online shop that sells g4 but dont have warranty and we cannot ask for the manufacture date.
Deo Dela Cruz the manufacturer date is on the box so if worse comes to worse you could buy it and then sell it. I don't think all of them have bootloop issues either. My neighbor bought a g4 when it first came out and she hasn't had any issues with it.

agree with you with LG G4 designis amazing , they just have to fix some minor things like processor , OIS , UI , fingerprint and the build quality.
I have a G3 and I love it. The curved back really does make it nice to hold in your hand. Battery life could be better but I'm ok with that :)
I got my AT&T G4 OTA update Wednesday, and of course I'm loving it,much faster performance but took an hour or so to get everything optimised

I still have my LG G2 and I love it. The only reason I'm even upgrading is bc I found a hella deal on the G4 on eBay and I dropped my G2 a few weeks ago, causing the digitizer to be sort of dead in the middle of the screen.
I've had the G4 for about 6 months now, and haven't been too in love with it. I can't stand their skin, and none of the features in the software make it worthwhile. Google has locked me out of Nexus devices because I don't want to deal with buying a phone all at once at it straight out price. I really only enjoy the buttons on the back. That it literally it.
Can't wait to see the G5.
I had an LG G3 since the week it was released and I loved that thing. I even went so far as to put a $60 Zerolemon 9000mAh battery case on it and it would last almost 3 full days without needing a charge. One day, I saw it randomly restart out of the corner of my eye. I watched it for a few minutes as it turned back on, then went into the restart cycle once more. It did this indefinitely until one time it just got stuck on the restart screen and refused to move past that point. When I picked it up, it was extremely hot to the touch. I was able to turn it back on eventually, but Wi-Fi and Bluetooth refused to turn on. Trying too much to turn these two on would throw it back to getting stuck on the restart screen. I searched forums for days, but couldn't find any documentation of anyone having the same problem as I did, so eventually I gave up and bought the G4. Coming to the G4 from the G3 didn't actually feel like a positive change to me. Despite all the reviews everywhere saying that the 808's 6 cores are fine to run this phone on a day-to-day basis, there was definitely a noticeable change from the sheer speed of the 801 in the G3. The main place I noticed the slow down was on Knock Code. The G4 is so much slower to recognize the knocks that it almost isn't even worth trying to use the feature. I got the Marshmallow update for the G4 yesterday, and it made the G4 worse yet again. Now knock code on the G4 is required to be at least 6 taps and use 3 out of the 4 tiles which really annoyed me. I was using a 3 tap code with only 2 tiles. Why am I no longer allowed to set my password as whatever I want on my own phone? So in conclusion, the G4 has just been a disappointing phone to follow the powerhouse of the G3. If anyone knows how to fix the problem I'm having with my G3, please tell me as I would gladly switch back to it any day.

In my opinion, the ZeroLemon battery you bought could have been the cause of those errors. I kept reading reviews about it and some of them said it doesn't last that long and it overheats, loses capacity over time and even dies within a year. Not true to all pieces, but still relevant.
Somogyi Norbert Well I thought that that could be the cause too, but I also put the original battery back in and the problem still persisted. I didn't leave the case on all the time so I doubt it would have caused damage due to extended use.
Mines is getting fixed for the boot loop issue. But i would recommend it, i really enjoy it. I'll most likely get the G6 next year as my contracts over next year.
my fav phone of 2015.. the best..and then came the V10.. LG Has its game back on.. and I think this year it may even beat Samsung..
my favorite part about this phone is when I stops working tbh. I loved this phone so much but this boot loop killed it for me. I'm switching to the V10

You can buy a G4 right now on Swappa for $300. All of the ones I've seen on there are hardware revision 1.0, which are the ones that experience the boot loop issue. My advice would be to spend a little bit more and buy a V10. That's what I plan on doing. The boot loop issues scares me away from getting a G4.
IMO, the removable battery is best for future proofing your phone. cause when you're battery stops holding a charge, (which it eventually will) you can just replace with a new one.
I just got a G4 last week and it's easily the best phone I've ever had. Plus I immediately got the 6.0 update the day I got it.

No, not really. Battery life is slightly better than my G3 for sure. I haven't had any issues other than occasional lag here and there. That's sort of expected with Android though.

If you think the LG G4 is slippery then use the leather back they give along with the plastic back. I never used the plastic one and Only use the Leather back and It never slipped in my Hands.
LG G4 have better camera than the SG Note 4, SG S5, iPhone 5S, SG Edge, Nexus 5X and a few more. Is still one of the best phone out there. ( I have all the phones mentioned earlier why I made the comparison)

If battery is removable, then you don't have to worry about leaving the phone plugged in all night, and using the phone while charging. Because you can easily replace with new one.
I like phones with removable battery because the battery is one of the first things to fail. My brother had to replace the battery of his Nexus 5 less than a year after hi bought it, and what in older phones was a matter of seconds, now takes half an hour, special tools and the risk of breaking the screen.
Not a single comment on Marshmallow on the G4? Software updates seem like an important thing to talk about in videos like these.

Getting my 3rd lg g4 back on Saturday. Nothing but boot loop problems in 1 year. Never going to buy a lg phone again after this, I'm getting the Galaxy s8 next year.
I love this phone. I have been using it since summer and the only issue I have is that I get enough battery for 11 hours (until fully charged) instead of 12...
If LG G5 will not come with back bottons I won't biy it.
I had G4 but I have V10 I love 5.7 inch display on my LG V10. but I'll personally say wait now and see how's the battery life on LG G5 is gonna be.

+Harry Bond I have to say G4 has slightly better battery life compared to V10 becuase of smaller screen size and doesn't have that 2.1 secondary display you know but on my G4 i got at least 4 and half hrs of screen on time and V10 I get 3 and half hrs or maybe 4hrs but when i turn that secondary display off i get more screen on time maybe like 4 hrs and 10 mins I keep accurate track of how much SOT i get. But I'm a huge LG fan becuase by they have that removable battery and honestly if I know I'm gonna have a heavy usage I'll carry my over removable battery for my LG V10 or my G4. Another another thing i still play with my G4 from time to time tho pretty neat.

and there is no fix for that. As it is a hardware issue. If your g4 is still working you are lucky

alphaboltz, i can almost guarantee you that it will happen to yours too within a year just watch. it typically happens at 7 to 9 months

The G4 is a solid phone and was the best in camera in the year 2015. I wish the G5 improvises on the design bringing in a glass or aluminium body making it a strong competitor for the other flagships that are yet to be released this year.
i really hope the g5 will surprise us in some way..

I LOVED, note the past tense, this phone. Too bad the thing just suddenly crashed, wont turn on or just gets stuck in a bootloop. And too bad LG wouldn't do anything about my situation (this was before the petition got LG to do something about all the broken hardware issues and by then I got a new phone). :(

I just got my Marshmallow goodness. I still have more time to pay for this phone, but I'm not dreading that time. I'm still very happy with this phone. I'm not a power user, but I like a fluid experience. I still get that, as my Ipad mini is studdering and struggling.
It is my hope that I use this phone until it dies, or becomes obsolete. I picked it for its ability to add a new battery, more memory, and NFC charging (not out of box). This should give extra her life. Six cores help too. When I have to buy again, I'll be keeping my eye on LG.

I absolutely love my LG G4, and I've had it since July, 2015. However, with all these occurrences of "bootloops" and G4s never being able to boot up, I feel like my daily driver is a ticking timebomb.
It's a shame, really. Else, I'd have recommended this phone to many people, even to this day.
Yeah, I wasn't really expecting it to happen. I also bought mine in July 2015. My biggest mistake was not backing up all my internal storage files. I lost everything.
you should go return it. LG is aware of this issue and is working on fixing it

I love my G4 and hope they don't turn the G5 into just another iPhone like Samsung did to their phones. I like the back buttons much better and I love the way they used the bottom volume button as quick access to the camera.
One thing I will not accept is if they go the route of the others with deleting the external memory. I use mine a lot and most of that is because I am a photographer. This phone has the best camera I've used on any phone yet. I love the manual settings and the RAW file format, but using this as much as I do takes up a lot of memory space. I don't want to have to start deleting photos or video because my phone is out of memory. Not to mention the fact that these companies charge you $100 for an extra 64Gb that actually costs $20 if you were to buy a 64Gb memory card.

I literally cracked my G4's screen today.
It's been a hard day for me.
I just bought one for a very good price ( at least for Europe standards ) and I'm loving the phone. I'm not a big camera guy or a selfie guy but the camera is amazing on this one. Also, I absolutely adore the design and I wish they wouldnt go away with it :( Though Im gonna keep this phone now for quite a while so we'll see what happens down the road.
After 6 months of usage, I'm still loving my G4 despite the bootlooping issue and weak battery life. Love hate relationship i guess lol

At least they were sticking to innovation rather than imitation when it comes to the design aspect....
The leather back cover feels better than an ice cold metal surface or a smudged glass surface. And it ages with time like a jeans pant....
However the UI needs much improvement....
bring back the curves in lg g6 if u want to succeed.. give it bezelless, and removable 4000-4850mah with snapdragon 830 nxt year in 5.5 qhd oled and LG will be competitive again nxt year just like htc with their 10😏
I had the boot loop issue after less than 7 months of using the LG G4. I bought it in the Philippines but I am studying in Sydney, Australia now. LG Australia told me that they do not cover the warranty of my G4. So I had to have it repaired for AU$290. That was overkill. Lost all my files stored inside the phone including photos, videos, PDFs, etc. Never trusting LG again. I'm going to switch back to Samsung soon. My previous Galaxy S4 didn't have any problems until it was almost 2 years old. I am so disappointed with LG. Sad.
