Great battery test using 100% brightness and CPU+GPU intensive. Intermittent heavy usage by running video player, browser can easily last me 24 hr, with about 4 hr 45 min of active usage (based on screen on time). If I am using casual, like just e-mail, Whatsapp, calendar, then it last 1.5 day with 20% screen brightness. I found screen brightness can easily extend the battery usage, so I always keep mine below 20%, since I normally work in office, and less outdoor
how do you make it last so long? I just got mine a couple of days ago and I have to charge it twice per day. If it is 100% at 8am after let's say 1hr or 1 and a half hr of TH-cam, fb Messenger, and some spotify by 11 or 12 is dead.
The tricks are (1) set brightness to 20% - 30%. This reduce 1% per 2 min to 1% per 5 min (2) always "Clear all" with square button. This prevent software that drain battery in background (3) reboot it when prior of to leave it idle for long. Battery drain reduced (idle) from 1% per hr to 1% per 8 hr (4) if you don't reboot, then turn Airplane mode on (+Clear all) like when I am driving, which also gives 1% per 8 hr battery life. There are app which can auto on/off Airplane mode by time (such as sleeping hr) These 4 techniques last me more than 24 hr. Other tips other found in internet doesn't save much

I just got my g4 today and I love it even though it'll get an hour of less battery I love how its removable and having micro SD card expansion . Nice video tho !
Great test i lov my G4 but only thing i hate in this phone is its poor battery which drains fast and charge very slow other wise its camera is far better then S6 Or Note 4

+hypermetalsonic Nah, it's bad. I just got mine yesterday. In two hours it dropped near to 40%. With minimum light on the screen, with constant tab closing and after I had erased and deactivated more than a few applications. Not playing any games. Just web browsing. Great phone, but with just a few hours, it's battery is worse than the one in my previous two year old Sony Xperia L, which was far from impressive from the start.

You should measure the brightness with some hardware and get a standard brightness level that all devices can achieve to compare them more accurately also run in airplane mode to avoid issues with carriers affecting battery. Also run a benchmark tool gameplay could very well affect battery more or less in different situations, it's a decent test but you could make it much more accurate.
+trignite naw nobody does that as a regular customer, its either they put it to 50% or 100%. do you think everybody has the device to measure the screen display brightness. common now.
+L BS That's not what he means. Some phone's 100% brightness might be different than another's 100% brightness, so you should measure it somehow and have them at an even brightness. You should also keep them in airplane to prevent inconsistencies.

I was seriously considering G4 before i began watching your uploads and channels. Now I'm having serious doubt. Either zenfone 2 for budget option or splurge and wait for Note 5 probably. Can I ask you what is the temperature for the G4 CPU during gaming? does it get hot? My Galaxy S4 can get up to 90+ celcius i think and it gets really crazy hot (using an app called CpuTemp to have an overlay of the cpu temperature on my screen even while gaming)

Wow my battery must be defective or something. It goes down about 1% every 2 minutes. Like today it went down faster than that. About 2% every minute while playing a game wasn't even that intense.

I do have a question about the testing methodology.. Do you put the screen brightness all they way up? Or do you ensure that they are all set the same for all phones. For example, setting it as 200nits. Different displays have different levels of brightness and that may impact the results. Just wondering. But it seems that the s6 edge seem to have better battery life here than the G4 in continued usage for gaming even with that brighter screen.
+Kishel Raj Mohan listening skill is the best solution to your answer. as I stated in the video the screen brightness is 100%. also I test the device as is straight from the box and no do stupid mathematic or scientific of the screen should be higher than the other to compensate the nits. I do test as is, 100% screen brightness.

Kishel Raj Mohan the point of putting setting it to 100% is that at least we have a general idea of the battery life in the sense of all devices were all set on 100% brightness whereas if you do it in real world, people's screen brightness will be set all over the place which will give you a false or varities of outcome result. cause each person uses or set their screen brightness differently where as some likes it nice and bright while other people sets it on 50% to save battery.

I wondered if their quoted times were because of some odd thing they did, because from day one with the phone, even after restoring it and replacing the battery, I saw no improvement in the longevity of the battery. After seeing your video I felt certain that something is definitely wrong with the device I picked up
Keali'i Mamea you will expect less hours for couple of days. the battery needs to be broken in. once it does then you will be able o reach 3 hours or so

Let me be more specific. I have gamed for hours on my device(LG G4 H810) The battery life is fair for my needs. Why would I game for hours? Because when your baby is taking a nap you take what you can get. Or, a more common situation, you're in the car and are going somewhere that is hours away. Granted I played about 2 hours of games and then another 2 hours I was browsing the internet and such. What I'm saying is that I'm not the only one who would play for a long time because I'm obviously not the only dad that games on his phone.
this test purposely uses the most battery possible to give the viewers an idea of the minimum that their battery would last. meaning, they could make their battery last way longer depending on their usage
I am getting only an 1.5 hours of battery playing intensive games, (brightness about 60-90%) what can be the reason ? (faulty battery or anything other) p.s. phone heats up much

+Kishel Raj Mohan listening skill is the best solution to your answer. as I stated in the video the screen brightness is 100%. also I test the device as is straight from the box and no do stupid mathematic or scientific of the screen should be higher than the other to compensate the nits. I do test as is, 100% screen brightness.

BTW, i do feel that placing the screen brightness at 100% can skew real world usage results as we do not place the screen at 100% usage at all times. But this is still a good honest battery review. Appreciate the time and effort taken when creating these videos.
Kishel Raj Mohan the point of putting setting it to 100% is that at least we have a general idea of the battery life in the sense of all devices were all set on 100% brightness whereas if you do it in real world, people's screen brightness will be set all over the place which will give you a false or varities of outcome result. cause each person uses or set their screen brightness differently where as some likes it nice and bright while other people sets it on 50% to save battery.

I wondered if their quoted times were because of some odd thing they did, because from day one with the phone, even after restoring it and replacing the battery, I saw no improvement in the longevity of the battery. Keali'i Mamea you will expect less hours for couple of days. the battery needs to be broken in. once it does then you will be able o reach 3 hours or so

Let me be more specific. I have gamed for hours on my device(LG G4 H810) The battery life is fair for my needs. Why would I game for hours? Because when your baby is taking a nap you take what you can get. Or, a more common situation, you're in the car and are going somewhere that is hours away. Granted I played about 2 hours of games and then another 2 hours I was browsing the internet and such. What I'm saying is that I'm not the only one who would play for a long time because I'm obviously not the only dad that games on his phone.
this test purposely uses the most battery possible to give the viewers an idea of the minimum that their battery would last. meaning, they could make their battery last way longer depending on their usage
