    Nice job on finding so much of what you wanted! The Clash family tree. The store I went to still had a few copies of the Bowie into the afternoon.

      Hi Jack, Yes, Joe and the Mescalero’s debut album, fantastic and the remaster on this RSD version is great as well as the packaging. Happy days in Portsmouth, big promotion, in with the bigger boys next season! Mike

    Hi Mike. Nice selection. I did buy the Viv Albertine ep but forgot to show it 😕 I'll put that down to lack of sleep. I didn't know about the Peter Murphy album. The Cramps ep didn't make it to Jumbo either. Cheers Mike.

      Hi Mike, you had a good day, I loved it this year and I love what I picked up. I’m really impressed with the Viv. I can’t stop playing side two in particular. The Pete Murphy is excellent. Especially the Pere Ubu, Joy Division, Iggy, Magazine and NIN covers. Not perfect but an album you want to keep playing. Shame but the Cramps and Bowie disappeared very early. Mike

    I knew you would be getting the Joe Strummer and I did as well. I don't remember seeing The Outsiders and Peter Murphy at the stores that I went to. I was amazed about how crowded the stores were this year. The Cramps were gone at my stores. Happy listening.

      Same here Randy, the queues were larger than I’ve even seen before for RSD. No chance of getting either Bowie or the Cramps here. The Joe Strummer remaster is fantastic, it’s really enhanced what was already a good sound record. I’d recommend the Pete Murphy if you can find it, not perfect but has some brilliant covers. Mike

    Great to see you are so happy with what you found Mike. I've got a couple in mind for Monday but some of those you have do look nice. Interesting that there were so many people queueing so late in the day. My Elton journey stops at Captain Fantastic too. Cheers Dale

      The two that refuse to leave the turntable at the moment are Joe and Viv. I knew the Joe was great but the remaster has even improved it. The Viv Albertine EP is superb especially side two. Mike

      I might go out and see what's left at Sundance Books. I didn't go out to RSD because I bought a collection. All Beatles , Grateful Dead, Little Feat, Fairport Convention , The Police. All UK pressings in beautiful condition. Many more titles, including " Live And Dangerous" Thin Lizzy. We just don't see British records over here in this abundance. The guy really did right by me !

    Glad you were able to get so many records you really wanted. Lots of cool Clash-related stuff. The Peter Murphy album looks great but, as you said, Space Oddity and Purple Rain are two tough songs to cover. I went to Luna Records at 3:00 PM and there was still a line. Like yourself I hate lines, but I waited because the line was only 4 people. There was no line by the time I left. Thanks for showing the records!

    Mighty fine RSD pickups, Mike. I did not see Viv Albertine or Galen and Pail here. I was also unable to find Peter Murphy, but I will try another shop later on. I doubted myself on the Outsiders. I mean, one LP at nearly $50 really put me off!

      I think you will love the Peter Murphy if you can find it Brian. It’s not perfect but the Pere Ubu Final Solution, Iggy Funtime, Joy Divsion Transmission, Magazine Light Pours and NIN Hurt are superb! Also, the Viv Albertine is brilliant especially side two with the Mick Jones remix. I’m really liking what I picked up. Mike

    A good haul there mate, some really good albums. The Television album sold out very early on at Rough Trade in Notts where I was queueing, sadly I only managed to get the one record I really wanted and that was Lennon's Mind Games EP. And I have to say it sounds truly stunning, John's voice is so clear, and it paves the way for what is to come in June/july with the ultimate mixes box set of the Mind Games album. Going to be an early start for me on Monday, as at Rough Trade you can pick up online what stock is left, so I'm hoping to be able to pick up The Dream Syndicate's Sketches for the days of wine and roses. Wish me luck.

    • @pc31thevinylpoliceman
      @pc31thevinylpoliceman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Terry, I had so much on my wantlist that Lennon came off of it because I will be getting the boxset so I decided not to go for it. I kinda regret it because I understand it’s different, but I started seeing the Pennie’s disappear! 😫 Bowie and the Cramps seemed to sell out very quickly in the south. Good luck on Monday, I really hope you get the wine and roses album. Mike

    Managed to get 2 copies of Caribou of the 3000 worldwide release.

    Unfortunately missed out Bowie and Kate Bush single.

      I was really pleased to pick up Caribou, I’ve always had a soft spot for that album. Also, my original is very well played. I think also it looks beautiful with the gatefold and blue coloured vinyl. I tried a few places to get the Bowie but it seemed to disappear very early. Mike

    Glad Pompey got promoted mate🎉🎉🎉🎉

      Hi Mike, I think you need the first 4. The Pete Murphy is really interesting. His Pere Ubu, Iggy, Joy Division, magazine and NIN covers are excellent! It’s not a perfect album but one that you want to keep on playing. The Viv EP is superb, the last two tracks (side two), I can’t stop playing. Mick Jones remixed and plays on one of those. You were at Galen & Paul before me, but now have the debut album and this EP which is enjoyable. The Joe is just wonderful. The remaster brings everything even more to life, superb!! Thanks Mike, yes Pompey we made it. Great season, top for most of it. I’m a season ticket holder so I’ve been there virtually every step. Mike

    Great stuff! I'll probably stick with the copy of Rock Art that I have, but now that you've mentioned how great it sounds.....

    • @pc31thevinylpoliceman
      @pc31thevinylpoliceman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi K, I think the original Rock Art sounds great, but I must say this remaster enhances it imo. I haven’t played the Television yet, I’ll be doing that tomorrow. Check out the Galen and Paul on TH-cam before you buy because it maybe different to what you expect. It’s quite basic and naive sounding, but has a timeless quaintness to it imo. But won’t be everybody’s cup of tea. Mike

    Hi Mike, firstly congratulations to Portsmouth FC.
    I managed to get the three LPs that I wanted namely the ones by David Sylvian, The Fall and Propaganda. A friend picked up the live Television one for me as my local shop wasn't stocking it. The shop seemed to have a lot left over of the Bowie one when another friend went there later in the afternoon. If there is still one left would you like me to pick it up for you? However you may have picked it up elsewhere.
    Buying records is good therapy!

    • @pc31thevinylpoliceman
      @pc31thevinylpoliceman  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Colin, apologies, bit slow in responding. I hope you’re ok, yes buying records definitely occupies the mind in a good way, so yes great therapy. Pompey, yes, we got there, back up with the bigger boys! Hope we can stay there and consolidate. I picked up that David Sylvian and had a good look but at the end of the day the budget just couldn’t run to it. I did find prices this year a bit racy. Many thanks for Bowie offer, I appreciate it, but I did manage to pick one up in another store after the event. Take care Colin! Mike

Also, I don’t really fancy playing you at the moment, I don’t think it would end well for us at present! 😫 so c’mon Saints! But they do seem to be trying to blow it at present. Hi Mike. I didn't take part in Record Store Day this year. The three or four records I was interested in were too expensive for me. Two of them were around £60 each! I'll maybe find them at a later date at a reasonable price ... Of your purchases, I did want Galen & Paul, but my record shop wasn't stocking it. I loved their album. I'd describe their music as charming; so I'd agree with you saying there is a quaintness about them ... I've got Viv Albertine's 'The Vermilion Border'. Mick Jones always had beautiful girlfriends! I saw the Slits supporting I think it was Buzzcocks back in 77. Viv's autobiography is a quality read.

Is it good Carl? You chose a good word…. Charming, for the Galen and Paul. Easy to listen to, very enjoyable. I also agree that some of the prices on RSD were just silly! Mike

      @@pc31thevinylpoliceman I think we've mentioned Ellen Foley before! I wonder who Paul Simonon was going out with back in the day? One of the coolest-looking musicians ever ... Re 'The Vermilion Border', Viv talk-sings high in the mix, sounding a bit like Kim Gordon would possibly sound if she was a posh English lady. I like it a lot. Plus you get Mick Jones guesting on 'Confessions Of A MILF'. (I can't decide if that's a great title or not! Check out the official video on TH-cam.) Her autobiography 'Clothes Clothes Clothes Music Music Music Boys Boys Boys' is one of the best autobiographies by a musician I've read. It's not ghost-written. She did a second book as well, which I haven't read. I'll have to see if that's still available.
