I've been on TH-cam a long time - the comments don't ever get to me, I just want people to know I read them 😅 I also have no allegiance to any brand or company either. People think I'm too mean to Motorola or I get paid by Samsung or that all I care about is Apple lol They all make bad products some years and good products other years, but they need to hear some honest feedback. Or else they'll be complacent or end up releasing crap like they sometimes do, and then everyone loses 🙅♂️

@@spl1t.00many consumers watch reviews after they already purchased the product. It is counterintuitive but very much true. Here's the thing there's absolutely nothing wrong with constructive criticism and wanting these phone companies to do better. But you recommend several lower end Samsung A0 and A1 series phones that also are laggy and have more bloatware. So i think that's where people like me that have used several brands notice the bias. I actually picked up this phone through Straight Talk for $43 with tax. At that price it's one of the best cheap phones I've bought. Every area is solid except call quality. And that's why i won't keep it. Often times in these reviews most overlook call quality. To me that's the most important thing and getting texts. Every orher feature that works well is just a bonus.
Your points are objectively false. Wade is critical with Motorola just as he is with any other brand. He has made several videos calling out other brands like Samsung and apple. The most prominent example is the A02 where he criticized the device even moreso than he did with the G Play 2023. As for the a04 and a05, they were nowhere as laggy or unusable as the g play 2023. Wade proved this in his videos where the G Play would freeze and crash in basic everyday apps. There is no one to blame here except Motorola themselves. Bloatware is definitely a concern as it takes up valuable storage. However, Samsung packs 64 GB even in their lower tier devices. So I ask you this. 5 GB of pre installed apps on a 32 GB g play or 10 GB of pre installed apps on a 64 GB a04? You do the math. As for pricing, that comes down to carrier plans and deals. The customer will be paying money regardless if it's to the OEM or the carrier. Even if we put that aside, basically every other device also gets heavy discounts from carrier contracts. That is why reviewers base their opinions on the MSRP as it demonstrates the value that the OEM themselves place on the device. Finally, there is your dissatisfaction with the signal quality. The reason most reviewers don't cover that is because there are too many variables to account for. Different carriers, different locations, different buildings. There is simply no feasible way for a single creator to go across all America to test all carriers in all types of buildings. On top of all that there could also be issues with the sim card, cell towers, or congestion. As for my thoughts on this situation, it's clear that people are immediately jumping to instinctive hatred. Many watch reviews after purchasing the said device. They believe that admitting their purchase decision was stupid will in turn be admitting that they themselves are stupid. As such, these consumers instinctively resort to hate comments to defend their purchase decision. This is seen across all Wade's critical videos and just critical reviews in general. Wade is not biased against or for any brand. He speaks his mind and advocates for better products for all consumers.

You should absolutely ignore the haters Wade because you do excellent reviews. I find myself agreeing with most of what you say in phone reviews. However, I do understand why people might be inclined to think you’re biased towards Samsung. You do tend to call out Motorola for things you don’t call Samsung out for too. So I think it’s more about consistency than real hate towards you personally. For example, you can’t call out Motorola for bloatware when Samsung has tons of dual apps and unlike Motorola’s bloatware, Samsung’s bloatware is not able to be deleted. You also say Motorola should stop putting crap in their latest phones and again, I totally agree. But, so should Samsung. Tell me you don’t notice the garbage Exynos in most all of the Samsung A series? One thing I will criticize Motorola for is their embarrassing lack of software support with updates and that’s where Samsung easily beats them. I see both sides of the debate, you’re entitled to your opinions which is fair but you also need to be balanced to equally call Samsung out. Either way, keep doing great videos Wade.
I appreciate the kind words! Samsung was awful with their old OneUI skins and bloatware apps years ago, and they did get better, but you're right, they've been adding more & more crap apps and now have like 2+ folders worth of junk on every device like Global Goals, Samsung Members, etc. My gripe with Moto specifically was they introduced those odd "folders" which were literal spam ads for garbage apps that weren't actually installed on the device. Not helpful at all.

I do agree that Motorola needs to stop with the bloatware because they’re kinda known for no extra added junk. Best phone you can get for the price, I bought it for only $110 in Canada and that's in Canadian dollars... The style of fingerprint scanner that this phone has is the only type that should exist on any phone, it's so much Superior than any other type.
Whew, I dodged a bullet. I seen the 2023 model at the same price as the 2023 model. The 2024 model is working well for my basic use as a phone, with a few smart features.
I absolutely love this phone for $90 from Walmart with a 50 MP camera (iPhone 14 quality) and 120 fps with SO many features and you don't even have to pay for TH-cam music the phone's pin feature completely by passes paying any subscription you can even lock your screen or play music while gaming!
I recently purchased this phone for $60 and was shocked by how nice it is considering that I've been spending several hundred dollars for each of my previous few phones. I found your critique too harsh given the phone's price point. I remember paying something like $350 20 years ago for Motoroloa's top-of-the-line flip phone. I also remember what my first Android smartphone looked like 12 years ago. It's truly incredible how nice this phone is compared to what our options were not that long ago. I don't love the Google ecosystem but I think people will be happy with this phone if they aren't expecting it to be an iPhone substitute.
I had an old Moto G6 that lasted me 5 years . I loved it so much that I was very upset when it finally died. And it had a head back. The Pixel is a disappointment.
I still have a tablet made from Motorola i bought in 2013. It still works in a pinch. Ever since I bought Motorola phones. 2020 Power was by far the best
Here in the US Motorola is basically the only other options customers have besides Samsung and apple. So we’re just gonna pretend google doesn’t exist.
Samsung and motorola have $200 phones and they’re even cheaper with carrier offers, while the cheapest Google phone is the 8a at $500 unless you buy last year’s 7a which carries do not sell anymore.
Google pretends Google doesn't even exist. Their 8a launch was a flop that they themselves botched, and they for some reason keep putting the focus on the Pro & Fold which no one buys. They'll be out of the hardware game within 2 years. They're the *best* option for Android users, yet they can't get out of their own way.

I bet people would understand why you criticize Motorola so much if you were to compare their G series lineup with what Samsung Has to offer with their A series lineup.
Saw this phone at Best Buy next to the other motorola phones and the screen is very bright, and looks okay as long as you dont compare it to the other phones. The resolution is a bit on the low side, but at least the colors are good.
I've used this phone and it's very decent! Only real con is the display dimness but alas it's a $150 ($129 on recurring sale) phone that's actually usable.

Yes that Moto g play 2023 was the worst phone ever. Along with the Moto g stylus 2023. That too sucked. I'm a Motorola user and I know junk when I see it. My Moto g stylus 2022 is starting to show it's age. Freezing up, just turns off, won't turn on sometimes, ect. I'm also using a 3 year old Moto g pure. That phone is giving me no problems. Great video 👍
It should not had been showing it's age being a one year old device. I bought the Moto Play 2023 and I immediately regretted it. I didn't expect much based on it's price tag, but it was a sluggish piece of shit that not even Tiktok could load properly for me. Even the basic tasks like web browsing was a chore to do on that device. I immediately sold it and bought myself the One Plus Nord N30 and I have zero regrets. I am not the most power user, but I just want to be able to run videos without the device having issues doing basic tasks.
This is the phone you buy your kids for their first phone. Even if you want to use this phone as an adult for a daily driver, how can you trust using it for business, banking apps and a bunch of other apps when your not getting security updates. No adult should use this phone.
I somewhat agree with that - it just depends on a person's needs. It's not nearly as unreliable as last year's Moto G Play, but the lack of software & security updates is a personal concern of mine.
@@TechDaily You phones basically a pocket computer. If I didn't have security on my windows laptop it would be the same thing. I run my businesses, my banking apps, send and receive money through my phone. I couldn't do any of this without updated security.
I got the Moto G Play (2022) for free through my lifeline plan. It is as awful as you say. I bought a Pixel 6a and have the Moto on eBay auction. Current bid is $0.99, just about what it is worth. It does beat the 6a on one count though - the fingerprint sensor sometimes works as opposed to the Pixel which never works.
@@OrlandoGarcia0322 to be fair, CMF's primary market for sale is India, and they don't really do NFC over there - they have a different system over there.
I think it's called the Moto G Play because it's game oriented and that's fine with me! I'm not big on cameras. I'd rather have a performance SoC and a weak ass camera. They should consider a Moto G Photo for the Shutterbugs perhaps.
I'm getting the moto g 5g 2024(I think it's the 2024) for 10 dollars with boost. I wanted a phone that has a lot of storage and this one has 128. I think people want phones that are cheap asf but are so good still 😂
Ok I agree that the moto g play 2023 and regular moto g stylus is bad But the other 3 phones from last year's lineup is not bad i have the moto g power 5g 2023 and coming from the moto g pure its a huge upgrade my only complaint is the screen could be a bit brighter
It depends on what's available for people, but I agree, there are carrier deals out there where the 2024 G Stylus isn't that much more expensive. I just always like to advise people to stay away from the Motorola website and avoid paying full price
But seriously, not everyone cares for expensive phones with “all” the features. I work in the tech industry and find myself just needing a basic phone for music, TH-cam and social media. This works well and I could afford a flagship if I wanted one.
Avoid all Motorola's upper tier phones. Motorola has lousy software support for their devices. It's no excuse in 2024 to provide one Android Update for your phones. If you're willing to shell out extra money. I recommend getting a One Plus Phone. They are actually pretty good and even the lower tier option the One Plus Nord N30 surprised me (I originally came from a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra) Although, I would wait until the One Plus Nord N40 to come out as that's getting 3 years of software support for a budget device.
Honestly, this year's 2024 Moto G Stylus is pretty solid spec-wise. You just have to still work with Motorola's Android experience and the lack of software support in the longterm. But it's a decent phone for sure.
I got it. The Minecraft experience is the worst I've ever had. I've had more fun with Minecraft on way old quad A09 core systems. What the bleep is wrong and why does nobody talk about it?

@@tejasraman6913 it’s a good phone, but no one would buy the $500 8a when the 8 is usually on sale for $550. Google need to make the a series phone like $350-400 or no one will buy ut
I bet people would understand why you criticize Motorola so much if you were to compare their G series lineup with what Samsung Has to offer with their A series lineup.
I'll probably do a Moto G vs Samsung A Series video at some point, I just have to figure out the right phones to compare
@@TechDailyG Stylus vs A35 (both retail for $400 but sell for less usually) and GPower vs A25 (both retail for $300) would be fair comparisons
I think Motorola makes good phones😂 ,
Don't listen to the Motorola fanboys, they are just mad because you provided evidence.
I genuinely don't think there are any Motorola fanboys around here lol
Saw this phone at Best Buy next to the other motorola phones and the screen is very bright, and looks okay as long as you dont compare it to the other phones. The resolution is a bit on the low side, but at least the colors are good.
I've used this phone and it's very decent! Only real con is the display dimness but alas it's a $150 ($129 on recurring sale) phone that's actually usable.
Yeah, I wish the display was a bit better but for the price - and compared to last years - its a nice upgrade
Great video Wade. I think some of Motos older phones are better than their newer ones.... just like Samsung and Apple... there's only so much you can improve on.😄
Lol so true. The Moto phones from like 2020-ish were peak
Shame they force you to install updates which slow your phone down and make it unusable within 3 years...
Apple does that lol. To a certain extent
@@ladiesloveghost. at least Apple are honest about it. Motorola claim the updates are "in the interest of security", they blackmail you into installing the updates (with all the crap that slows it down) otherwise your phone will be at risk.
Forced... Updates??????
First of all, Motorola updates their shit once in a blue moon, and second of all, go into developer settings and turn off automatic updates.
@@MLGPRO-dx8fg you can't turn off Android updates, I've spoken with Motorola about it and they say it's their "policy". You can dismiss them, but the prompt will pop-up several times a day and there's no way to stop it.
@@dbs567 It's hard to look into this because of how sparse updates are, but if I find anything to back up my claim, I'll let you know lol
Im a tually inpressed for the price. The battery is great.
You can disable apps that are preinstalled and use adb to disable Motorola own spywares and adwares and you can have a usable phone.
Use UADeboater
please show me how to do that
Phones are ment for calling and texting not ment for gaming or photography you want games buy a pc or console you want a camera then buy a camera phones are ment for calling and texting 😂😂
No. These are not phones, these are smartphones. Cameras, display, performance is why you pay 100's of bucks!
phones arent just meant for calling and texting, its 2024 for crying out loud. they are smartphones. they are multitools. calculator, clock, camera, flashlight, music and video player, social media, even games, come on. its literally a extra portable computer 🤦♂️
Obviously not otherwise there would be no options other than calling or texting. If that’s what you want go buy a dumbphone. And stop watching SMARTphone video. Nobody wants to lug a camera with them everywhere genius
I need to pick this up for my backup phone for suuuuuure.
Not first, yet still always best! 😎
Always appreciate the quick comments! 🏆
@@TechDaily Just letting you know I'm still around!
I'm Actually Proud Of Motorola For Stepping This Phone Up Cause Last Years Model Wasn't Good At All & This New Motorola G Play (2024) Is Actually The Best In Its Price Point I Believe U Cant Get No Better Expecially If U Like Bought It From Like A Dollar Store As A Back Up Phone I Believe This Is A Hot Seller In My Opinion 📱📱📱
Yeah, I hope Motorola sees that when they launch a decent phone, people will actually buy them! 😅
The new 2024 Moto G Stylus is one heck of an upgrade...maybe that could be your next device?
@@TechDaily yes definitely
Even better for its current $109 price tag!
Fingerprint aside, the 6a really is a great phone!
I mean dude. It’s a 50 dollar pre paid phone, you can’t expect it to be good
Great review as always sir..
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it!
Even CMF omits NFC on their budget phone just like the G Play (which the G04/G04s sold outside the US does have by the way).
Last I checked the CMF phone doesn't have NFC and that phone is 200 dollars. There's zero excuse not to include it in 2024.
@@OrlandoGarcia0322 to be fair, CMF's primary market for sale is India, and they don't really do NFC over there - they have a different system over there.
Complains when he has all the apps sitting on in the background and wonders why the phone is slow 😂😂
I think it's called the Moto G Play because it's game oriented and that's fine with me! I'm not big on cameras. I'd rather have a performance SoC and a weak ass camera.
They should consider a Moto G Photo for the Shutterbugs perhaps.
How's the storage on it
I'm getting the moto g 5g 2024(I think it's the 2024) for 10 dollars with boost. I wanted a phone that has a lot of storage and this one has 128. I think people want phones that are cheap asf but are so good still 😂
That's honestly a great deal! Hope you like it!
I've always used cheap phones and have not been disappointed. I think most of these reviewers do not use cheap phones hence the criticisms
I love you man, platonically.
Get me 6GB of RAM and 5G and this would be the budget king
Excellent review! Yeah. Great simple phone though.
Ok I agree that the moto g play 2023 and regular moto g stylus is bad
But the other 3 phones from last year's lineup is not bad i have the moto g power 5g 2023 and coming from the moto g pure its a huge upgrade my only complaint is the screen could be a bit brighter
Very true, not every phone last year was awful per se. But Motorola didn't really upgrade them from the previous year which kind of irked me.
What about the Moto G24 G54
Why get this when for the same price or even less in some places can get the stylus 2024 with an OLED screen 8gb of ram and a SD 6 gen 1 chip
It depends on what's available for people, but I agree, there are carrier deals out there where the 2024 G Stylus isn't that much more expensive. I just always like to advise people to stay away from the Motorola website and avoid paying full price
people should be able to sue u if ur recommending phones that cost 15 times as much as this.
Moto G Play: sponsored by McDonalds smoke breaks
But seriously, not everyone cares for expensive phones with “all” the features. I work in the tech industry and find myself just needing a basic phone for music, TH-cam and social media. This works well and I could afford a flagship if I wanted one.
Are any of Motorola's upper tier phones worth a hoot ?
Its a great phone!
All in all, this was a positive review for a MOTOROLA SMARTPHONE. Did they threaten you with a cement bath?
Motorola fortunately has not yet threatened me 😅
@@TechDaily
😂🤣😂🤣
My 2023 moto play got upgraded from Android 12 to 13
Honestly surprised to hear that 😅 Maybe Android 14 will hit this phone someday too..!
i got it for 50 bucks and i only use phones to call and text so all those stuff dont matter to me lol the place where i have fun is the pc
Its a no go for me. Does not offer enough even for a burner phone
Maybe the Samsung A15 or the Moto G Power would be better?
I am begging you...I mean begging you to please do a video reviewing or re-reviewing the 2023 Motorola edge+ for 199$ on boost mobile it's worth the price point...your thoughts?
Has all the bells and whistles and.... wait for it......the charger is in the box!!!!!🤣
Hmmm...let me see if I can get my hands on that phone!
This week i got android 14 update
Head jack, sorry.
They ALL have the same exact issues. Im sick of losing multiple paragraphs of text because of (?????? My phone decided I didnt need it ???????)
does this phone run mario kart tour?
My moto g play from 2016 literally had the same if not better screen 🤣
Motorola literally hasn't changed the screen on their cheap phones since the beginning of time lol
Wait how about "Blu" Phone? I think those have better spec than this!
I've checked out a couple Blu phones before, I just worry about the longterm legitimacy of the brand.
Blu is shit
Dont ever buy or use Blu phones
Shady chinese spyware
Motog G Play: the official phone of what you get after not buying Apple Care
What?
yes
SAMSUNG AND APPLE ARE FOOLING EVERYONE! always had the latest and greatest galaxy or i phone. After i broke another i tried this cheapo..................ITS BETTER NO JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!
moto g play 2023 traumatized me and im never getting motorola again. idgaf what anyone says about the new 2024 phones motorola is garbage i switched to iphone and havent looked back since
Aye I just got this moto g 2024 for temporary use , and wen I said this is the best cheap phone ever I mean it I bought this with the mindset of returning this phone when my iPhone 14 is ready, but man idk it's too good for me to just return it like it's trash or something lol
No one asked and no one cares. If you don't want the Moto G Play 2024 then fine. You'll be missing out.
That display just so poor, you can get a Redmi which is miles better for a similar price.
Redmi, let alone Xiaomi isn’t available in the USA… so you have to get it from Amazon from a seller that may not be trustworthy
Yeah, unfortunately we don't get Xiaomi / Redmi in the U.S., and I also don't think this phone is available internationally either...? Really strange discrepancy, but not exactly a direct comparison
i have used or say tried to use one such unusable Samsung device as the one you are referencing
Which Samsung device did you try? What went wrong with it?
any a series before 2023 😂😂😂
It's $40 dollars at Walmart
It looks like this was a contract gimmick
