    OK Chief, I'm on it. Today is my wife's birthday and I'm surprising her with a Pot Roast dinner. Your Yorkshire Puddings will be just the ticket to push it over the top. I'll let you know how it comes out. The roast is in the slow crock pot cooker now so wish me luck. My son Patrick married a delightful gal from Buckingham Shire south of London. 20 years wed and 5 kids. Doing just great !!! Thanks from CB, North Carolina USA

    I am so not a baker but I recently able to make scones in my own kitchen . I used to travel to England many times in the past and loved eating your traditional tea time treat, Scone with clotted cream with strawberry jam. Now I am thinking of our family favorite . When we were in the US. This one restaurant that we loved going there ,they served this yummy bread called “pop over “with the meal. I think it’s the same like your Yorkshire pudding. So, with the successful scones, I shall make this recipe pray for me...and thank you for making it looks so easy to make

    I watched your video and followed the recipe I used a larger muffin tin with just six spaces. I used some lard and some coconut oil as I didn’t have enough lard. The Yorkshire pudding puffed up so big and golden. I was so pleased and they were so tasty accompanied with an elk rump roast and vegetables in gravy. I put the remaining puddings in the freezer as you suggested. Thank you for showing your recipe and method.

    My Mum used to make Yorkshire puddings, she made it as a great big one piece pudding. She just poured the batter into the baking dish and it was always delicious. She said the real secret was to have the batter poured into piping hot dripping. It was always light and fluffy when cooked and the best thing ever to soak up some gravy.

      That's how I learned. Pour batter straight into the roast beef drippings. Bake on high heat and they puff up. Once cooked, and they let down some, tear into individual servings.
      But the individual popover muffin types are wonderful, too!

    Indeed these are perfect Yorkshire Puddings. I have tried making them in the past but not been successful. I halved the quantity for this recipe and used vegetable oil in the tins and they were excellent and really did rise well. Not only that the preparation time of the mix is very quick. I think what John has taught me which is the most important thing is getting the oven at the correct temperature. I use a separate thermometer to check that the oven has got up the correct heat and also bought a digital timer, it has made all the difference and John's easy to follow recipes make cooking a joy but also foolproof, thank you

    I remember the first time I ever made yorkies (for my mom and husband) I made the first half of the batter in a jug and let it sit for most afternoon. Then I added the rest of the milk. Then I poured my batter mix into the piping hot oiled tray. You should have seen my mom’s eyes when they were served up. They were perfect. I have never been able to repeat this, though

    Absolutely amazing, John. Tallow is tricky to find here in the States, but I lucked out, found a source of Wagyu tallow, picked up a small countertop convection oven after seeing how well yours handled heat circulation, then made a half-batch of these and...well...they did not survive long enough to cool. My wife profusely thanks you, as do I!

    Never seen or eaten these in real life. I made them following your recipe to go with roast chicken. Turned out perfectly. Nice puffy crisp puddings. Really good reliable recipe.
    One small incident. At first, I used beef dripping leftover from my last beef stew, but the moisture in the fat splattered all over my oven and I saw sparks go off. So I had to switch to vegetable oil. Still tastes great!

    • @JohnKirkwoodProFoodHomemade
      @JohnKirkwoodProFoodHomemade  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah you have to use pure fat, if there is any jelly on the beef dripping it will mix with the fat and react like pouring water on boiling oil, butter reacts the same way. try lard or goose fat, oils (although works) doesn't have a very nice flavour.
