One thing to note with Chrysler/Jeep/etc. The frequency used in the TPSM system changed in the late 2011 models. Pre and post change equipment will not operate with each other. So if you are buying used rims you will need to know which year they came off of. Same if you are ordering a new sensor(s) make sure you are getting the right one(s) or you'll end up causing yourself fits.
Two on my 09 Accent went within in 6 months, one leaked air and one kept the light on- they aren't cheap, 100.00 bucks a piece installed- You have a great tool collection
In Germany we now have a law that makes it obligatory to install TPMS System in cars after 11/2012 and i simply think it is stupid. Stop.. no, not stupid in general but the TPMS systems that use these Sensors are stupid from my perspective. The ones that us the abs-sensor are the clever ones. No 100$/€ extra sensors and it works realy good. I hope that most of the manufacturers step on them.
1kleineMax1 Sadly it has been passed, granted I drive an old vehicle from 1992 so no TPMS at all. But if I had something newer, I would have to admit that I would be looking at a TPMS disabling kit, so that they can't fail my car under inspection for not having that crappy system. There are certain things the law mandates that are best forgotten because of overcomplication, and this is one of them.
A $1500 gadget made to do such a simple thing. If chrysler or any manufacturer sells a vehicle with tpms and owners are expected to replace them when we buy new tires or do a relearn every time we do a rotation, then such a gadget should be included with the price of the car - just like a jack or lug wrench. These are just like rf keyless remote fobs programming - another scam by car companies do to keep cash flowing into their dealership service departments. Shame on them. ...btw, I can hardly blame a repair place for charging $20-$30 or more for the 1 minute service of relearning the tpms valves when they have to pay so much for the device to do it. The damn system should not be so complicated in the first place that it takes a special computer device to do this. Its asinine!
Had mine at the shop and they tested all four and they were all good, but they were unable to reset it. Just wondering if you would have any thoughts on what it could be.
I run two sets of tires on my G35. Summer performance tires and winter snow tires. Change tires after each season is over, but I never had to program the winter set when I brought them. Just slapped the winter set on and didn't get any tire pressure warning light. Only time the light is on is when I start the engine and if One of the tire is low on air.
I took my spare tire off my Jeep and the light came in a week later. If the spare is off would it kick the light on? What does a new sensor cost to replace?
South Main Auto Repair LLC my spare doesn’t have one but I had to install my spare until my tpm get a new valve. Can that cause the traction control to not work? My truck will only drive with it off now. (08 Jeep overland 5.7)
Great video. Looks like you get a lot of Chrysler car on the shop, goof for you. TPMS another lovely feature that DIYers like me hate. Most of the cars don't allow to store two sets of codes on the PCM if you have winter/summer wheels. So you have to go through this again twice a year.If you have the reset tool you have to pay to relearn the codes, what a cash cow. Shouldn't you suggest to the customer to replace all 4 sensors as they will be dying one by one from now on? Mine are still OK after 6.5 years on my Lancer
I can suggest it but at about a $65 to $95 installed out the door price each its a hard sell. I'm not to pushy of a sales person really. To bad you didn't live closer. I have a lot of customers that just swing in and I reprogram them in a minute during winter swap outs. A lot of times it's just for a hand shake. Customers are good and it's simple things like that, that keep them coming back :) Oh yeah Chrysler... see a lot of those. Dependable vehicles? You do the math haha
ATEQ actually makes a tool that stores sensor data for two different sets of sensors for folks that have summer/winter wheels. I use it with customer Evo X's all the time.
I have an 06 Commander and its showing one wheel as too low pressure but physically checking pressure shows all tires up to spec. Would you recommend just changing that one tpms or all four considering the age of the vehcle now?
It's things like this that make me never want to use TPMS. More trouble than it's worth, especially when there's nothing wrong with the tire. Oh, hope you enjoyed that cookie!
+Silky Tp It serves its purpose. I've seen too many cars on the road that the drivers are clueless when their tires are low on pressure. Its dangerous not only to themselves but to others that share the road.
+Henry Ting I suppose it's like the idiot light for oil. Those who check their oil think the lights are a joke. Reminds me of when I was married. "Honey, why didn't you tell me that the oil light was on on the dash?" She said "I thought if it were a problem, it would have been redder". True story.
Just wondering. Since you cloned the old TPMS ID into the replacement TPMS, it should not have been necessary to flash the sensor ID's into the ECU. The ECU would have already had the ID for the replacement sensor stored. So I'm thinking the flashing step could have been skipped.
South Main Auto Repair I know they do and it's the only one I would have put into vehicles. As I can see if my tires are low on the car. It's the spare I want to know that is good if I need it. As having to pull it just to find out it's flat or low on air is kinda too late. One reason I drop it to check its status every 1-2 months. As I still live in the stone age and to rely on my noodle.
Would a check tpm system with no flashing lights, cause the vehicle to randomly stop running? I took my vehicle in, it randomly shut off and turned out to be a crank shaft sensor. I got it done and when I picked it up, it said check tpm system. Didn’t have them look at it. Thought, another trouble for another day. I’ll just check my tire pressure from time to time. We’ll, ever since then, the vehicle would randomly shut off. No warning lights no nothing. But I’ll just get the same thing. Check tpm system. It turns back on okay and drives fine. Then out of no where, shuts down again. No warning.
What brand of replacement TPMS sensors have you had the best results from on Jeeps (Chrysler/Dodge & Rams)? I have 2012 Jeep Liberty Sport and have at least one bad sensor as my light is staying on with all tire pressures to spec. Given the age of my vehicle, I plan on replacing all of the TPMS sensors before putting new tires on. I was surprised when looking at a couple of the parts store's websites in that they had about 15 to 20 sensor listings all claiming to be a "Perfect Fit" for my vehicle. How could there be so many? Thanks for your very informative video.
Get Autel MX sensors. They are generic, inexpensive, the sensor has a quick disconnect from the valve stem. A new valve stem is a couple bucks so you can move them to another vehicle and REPROGRAM.
I just had brand new tires put on and the darned light came on. I bought the sensor and took it back to the tire place to put it on. Light is still on and it's driving me crazy. According to the mechanic, the computer is reading that there is a new sensor but no one can figure out how to program it. Any suggestions? I've been quoted another $130 for another tire shop to use their sensor to fix this problem : /
Where is the tpm system reset button in Jeep Liberty 2005? Can you show it in the video ??? I have taken my car to discount tire they checked and told me that the tires were fine, but the light is till on ? Can you help me ?
TPMS should only be on luxury vehicles, or only an option. It's only purpose is to cost people money and make money for tire shops, dealerships, and mechanics. Wal Mart will refuse to service your tires if it is broken, and a few tire shops will refuse to replace your tires if you do not pay to fix it. The 1 time I did was $80 for 1 tire. Firestone refused service if I did not and I had already been there a hour. tire discounters broke my valve stem and tried to charge me to fix the sensor.
I am told my TPMS Module is bad on my 2012 Town and Country. Dealer wants over $600 to replace. I can buy it online for less that $100! Do you know the location of said module? It must be outside the vehicle somewhere because they said there was corrosion involved.
Just learned today that there are “data brokers” around the world that use roadside radios and collect everybody’s TPMS signals as they drive by so they can sell your location data to whomever wants it. It’s a dirty world out there. But, what can ya do, right?
2015 Jeep wrangler jk unlimited sport 4 door. I just don't understand why it waited a week later. What I done was checking to see if my tires were swapped from the rear to the front. I let the air out of my left rear and it came on even after I put air back in it. It won't go off. I took it to the dealer and they said it's because I don't have my spare on.
Your welcome. Put it on and drive it for a bit (5 miles at the most I would assume) If that doesn't work and you have access to a compressor, park the vehicle and leave it running while you go around to each tire and deflate them about ten pounds then fill them up to what is stated on the door placard. This should "activate" each sensor and if the vehicle is running it will receive the signal and tpms data. Don't forget to do the spare too. Hope it helps ya :)
Thanks. I will give it a shot when I get my spare back. I am having my wheels hydro dipped. So when I get it back I'll try it and let you know if it worked lol.
If you get a replacement sensor at the same frequency, wouldn't the system automatically find the new sensor? It knows when you rotate the tires without reprogramming them.
Those sensors are nothing but a money grab! We survived all those years without them! All you need to do is quit being so lazy and get off your smart phone for 2 mins and check your tire pressures and do routine maintenance!
Not useful at all. I needed to find out where the TPMS reset button was & they did not show it. There also did not say how much it would cost to fix the problem. In that case it was a faulty system & shops charge a minimum fee of $50 to $100 just to look at it. Who knows how much they will charge you to just reset it?
Thanks! Plenty of help over the years!
Glad to help!

I have a customer that referred to the TPMS light as the "W" light. Beautiful.
Two on my 09 Accent went within in 6 months, one leaked air and one kept the light on- they aren't cheap, 100.00 bucks a piece installed-
You have a great tool collection
jim dandy I sell them for around $75 installed... ish
South Main Auto Repair Good deal, quality work and reasonable price
Great video! Straight and to the point! Finally
how did we survive without TPMS? another thing to deal with on modern cars, good video
I know right ... could you imagine if we had to check our own tire pressure and have $0.10 valve stems!
hahaha good one!!!!

BARTECH 400SD . Its NOT cheap.

good one as always, and by the way those TPMS are so easy to get damaged if care was not there when changing them.
Oh I hear that. I've seen guys peel them right clean off.
Had mine at the shop and they tested all four and they were all good, but they were unable to reset it. Just wondering if you would have any thoughts on what it could be.
Im currently having the same problem
Where you able to get the problem solved?

what is the sensor in the same jeep but it's under the fender cover attached to the wheel well?
Is there a way to relearn without tool like the gm vehicles? Thanks great video
Never over look the spare tire. I seen them go bad and people can't figure out why the light is on.
+Claude “Reviews4U” Rains That's true, some tpms systems do use the spare too.

nice job explaining tpms bar tech 400 is way cool
very help thank you. great video
Is it not possible to fit a new battery to the pressure monitor?
+Rodney Emmerich Nope you can't replace them
I wish its was so simple in mine situation.
Chrysler 200 all sensors reading ok, id pressure etk.
And still same code😕😕😕
What happens if you don't have the TPMS in the spare tire? Will it give error?
Yes, and that's fine because the spare should only be on for less than a day until you replace the tire.

Have snow tires on without sensors on wheels, it give me a 227 reading on tpm display?what goes?
What’s the model number of tpms tool you used ? Thank you
Nice info , Thanks. 👍
Thanks Steve... Almost didn't record it. Thought by the note she left it was gonna be a flashing MIL..
Thanks for the information!

Oh okay. Thanks.... I'll put it back on and see if the light will go back out. Either that or have them reprogram them again. Thank you

Nice, Lol I did a vid on hydro graphics too. It's long and boring but I had my struggles with it and did a video to share that.
i just had two of my sensors replaced and they all tested good but the light is still flashing? what could be the problem?
Same problem I had. Had to clear the codes
Just bought a 2002 grand Cherokee. Someone removed tpms sensors from wheels. How can I lose annoying message on in car?
Thanks, very useful info...
this video could have been 1/5th the length lol. thank you for the information.
Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 has 4 independent sensors that tell you which wheel has what pressure. Not common for for most cars.
How much does this cost?
Awesome! Thank you!👍🏻
Thanks for the video.
Ye and me but in uk lol Eric you to go in depth on electrical probs that’s why I’ve msg you to see if you could shine any light on prob with wipers
Good video.
Thanks Tom OConnor
If you get a replacement sensor at the same frequency, wouldn't the system automatically find the new sensor? It knows when you rotate the tires without reprogramming them.

Them dam things are the worse thing they ever came up with
Oh yes, on front left wheel
Soon We will have fly or bee sensors that will need to be reset with a gadget.
Every time a bee or fly hits our windshield.
Way to show how the sensor is replaced.. fail!!
