    G'day everyone - Sharing our first experience flying out of Siem Reap's new International Airport. SAI!
    We were there when it had been open for only a few weeks. There was still a bit to do and a little of attention to detail lacking, but like all things in Cambodia, over time I'm sure it will get better.
    I'm Marc - and these are my mildly interesting adventures, mostly through Cambodia and South East Asia.

    G'day everyone! What did you think of the new airport? Have you been to it yet? What was your experience like? Our flight was when it was relatively new so we appreciate that like all things in Cambodia, things will get better over time! Still more vids to come from PP and Kampot so stay tuned! Cheers - Marc

      Talking with Claire from For Riel briefly, this will be our first time in Cambodia and the new airport (from Brisbane). We arrive on 16th Mar. Claire said your wife might be able to take us on a tour the morning of 17th Mar. My wife Alyce and I have a 4 year old boy, Kinal could bring Max if she wanted.

      G’day Maddo! Spot on mate - it’s plenty big, just needs the traffic (and dare i say direct flights from Aus!!) to make use of the size and facilities there. It was nice being there so early in its life but it still felt like it needs some fine tuning to be a super slick operation. Needs a proper bin in the kids change rooms too hahaha!
      Cheers mate!!

      Haha yeah that was a bit sh1tty lol, overall looks a slick airport for the future.

      G’day Brian! Haha Max loves the wide open spaces - much like a puppy iff a leash he runs and runs and runs…much the same happened at Singapore too haha!
      The new airport is huge! Just like everything in Cambodia, it will take some time to become everything that it should be but at least its done and can handle more passengers than the teeny tiny old one! Doing well here - missing everyone back there though! Hope you are well there and are calling out anyone that isn’t fair dinkum!! 😁😁

    Used it in December. A restaurant and full on coffee shop would be great. Hmm. Looks like the maintenance team has a bit of work left to do in the bathrooms.. Tuk drivers wanted my Telegram account to get more business, but I wanted Telegram in case I needed to bribe an official. 😄 Safe travels Marc!

      Hey Dave! Agree mate - a couple more amenities would add some polish. Mind you if they open anywhere that serves drinks they will be forced to sort out those bathrooms quick smart! Haha Telegram is taking over! Nicely done! Cheers mate hope you are well!

    2:12 the roof of the airport looks flat and empty without the traditional Khmer roof lighting, in the 3D master plan you can see they was hanging out and also in the old airport the Khmer roof lighting (kind of lantern style) was equipped there.

    Not much there yet mate I'll be back in March. I'm getting the post office bus from the airport into town only $9

    • @MarcsMildlyInteresting
      @MarcsMildlyInteresting  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty sparse ey J J. It needs a pub/bar or anything that will help create some atmosphere. That $9 by bus sounds alright. It felt like a bloody long drive out there!! Cheers mate!

      Yes bloody long drive not like before and I have to catch the early flight back to Singapore. I hope everyone is well. I think I got a beer from that little cafe, is it a coffee club?

    • @MarcsMildlyInteresting
      @MarcsMildlyInteresting  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know right! I use to love just rolling out of the old airport and straight into town - this extra hour is going to feel like forever heading in now! Yep that little cafe was a coffee club from memory. We are all well here mate - chugging along looking forward to our next trip! Hope you and yours are well too!

    I've got to ask... Did Kinal buy anyone a "coffee"? :)

    • @MarcsMildlyInteresting
      @MarcsMildlyInteresting  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hehe G'day mate - Nah she never does! It's a little sneaky the way they ask - I suppose they do it cause people keep paying them..??
      Cheers!

    I thought the airport is an hour from the city. Did you take a tuk-tuk the whole distance? How much did that cost?

    • @MarcsMildlyInteresting
      @MarcsMildlyInteresting  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Edward! Ah We drove ourselves out there with some cars belonging to family members. It was about an hour out of town - definitely feels like a full hour compared to the old airport being only 10 mins out of town.
      Should be pretty straightforward to get a car, van or bus now from the airport to town for not a whole heap of money. Although I think you could, a tuk tuk out there would be a pretty ordinary trip. Cheers!

    6:22 I had your wife speak Khmer to your son. I'm assuming your son speaks Khmer?

      Hi mate - Good pick up! Yes my little one understands both English and Khmer! He can switch between both languages pretty well too! He only speaks English to me though...even when I ask him questions in Khmer 🤣!
      Thanks for watching and hope you are enjoying our vids 😁!
      Cheers - Marc
