THIS is why old cars are timeless and amazing. its not just the car, or how much it's worth; but the stories they hold, how they bring people together and the memories they bring back.

That's why I love old mechanical clocks. A 100+ year old clock can be bought, running condition, for extremely cheap. But now you have a piece of history, that's been around for a century, and most times, runs as good or pretty close to as good as it did originally. Unfortunately not many stories can be found with them, as they trade hands so frequently, but, what you can imagine is what makes them worth it :)

Exactly, the mustang you see on my channel was my dads first car in the late 80s and he drove it every day with it full of rust holes and damaged paint but over time while in high school he built a 302 and swapped it with the original 289 and he saved up enough money to take it to the body shop and get new fenders and the rust holes patched and then it got painted. After he got it back he was putting it back together when he bought a brand new car (93 Foxbody) and the 66 mustang got put off to the side and ended up in a shed for 25 years. That car has always been apart of my child hood because after my dad got off from work I would sometimes get him to open the shed so I could sit in it and just look. Well here I am now 15 and we pulled it out of the shed about 10 months ago and she’s come along way and I’m so glad I’m able to be a part of my dads life work

My dad bought a 1971 Alfa Romeo Spider after university and drove it from CT to MTL (Quebec). I was born 1 day after a car club "rally" event in said car. He sold the car when I was about 5 years old and told me it was "at the mechanics" for sometime until I figured out it was not coming back. Years later (I am 27 now) it popped up for sale in the local classified and a friend of my dad sent him the ad just as an interest car, nothing serious. After taking a look at some photos he realized it was his car from 20+ years ago and had stayed in the same area for all that time. We bought it back and I have been working on it / driving it for the last few years, keeping the car alive and taking it to as many car events / drives with my friends as possible.

In the mid Seventies my Dad bought a 67 Duetto Spider with a heavy tail end hit and some rust issues and restored it.
40 years ago I was very happy to take it for cruising with the sexiest chicks I knew. Those cars were always attractive to the ladies as well.
But one day I killed the engine on the way home after visiting my girlfriend! I never destroyed an engine before or ever since! That very same evening this evil girlfriend dumped me and started a relationship with a very close friend! No need to say that this was the shittiest day of my life!!
Happy ending followed: My Dad bought a brand new replacement engine and kept the car to this day. My ex is an ugly old and divorced hag by now. But I am happily married for over thirty years to a beautiful and very sweet wife. The car is in my Dad's garage and prettier than ever. I even kept the damaged engine to this day. Maybe I will have it fixed soon.

So I have a similar story to Wyatt's - I have a 1982 Thunderbird Town Landau sitting in my garage that belonged to my Mother, who bought it new. I've had it since '94 and it was last registered in 2004. It has 46K original miles. It lived outside under a car cover for 10 years before I pushed it into the garage. The engine was seized up and the carb throttle shaft was frozen solid. It now starts, runs, and drives. By the way, so does Mom - she's 94 now, and I hope to get the car back in good enough shape to give her a ride in it.

When he passed I bought it off his estate and began the restoration, which is slowly progressing as time goes on. My grandpa worked for AMC back in the 60s, so I like to think he had a hand in putting this car together. I have documented the whole process on my channel.

My mom's 1970 Monte Carlo, which she's owned since the early 70s, lives in the garage most of the time. It does get to come out every now and then, although it needs some carb work. I showed her this video and she really had a blast watching the whole thing! Unfortunately, the huge fan shroud has earned a reputation of being a place where cats like to explore, which caused a few unfortunate incidents back in the day. So she always honks the horn before she starts it just in case.

My great grandpa had a 1975 Chevy Nova, and my grandparents took the car from him when he got to old to drive. The car is rumored to have only around 30000 original miles on it. They parked it in their yard and forgot about it. Fast forward about 30 years, my grandmother sadly passed away back in April. After a long battle with the family, I can finally say the car is mine. I will be pulling it out of its grave in the woods this winter and try to get it running. I can't wait to get it back on the road and maybe even restore it!

It was a 1947 Austin 10 that they drove for a year then parked up. About 30 years ago my brother and I attempted to start it as teenagers and we learned the hard way about mice and wires! We got it started and it decided to smoke and burst into flames thankfully we got it out of the barn and in a matter of minutes it was burnt out!

My mom had a 72 Buick Skylark GS 455. She drove it like a little old lady. But.....I NEVER passed up a Sunday morning "let's go get some doughnuts" drive with my dad. He would drive down our little neighborhood road easy as could be, but at the main road he would get a little sparkle in his eye. Then, it was HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE!!!! It took hours for that smile to leave my face! I was 14 at the time. Mom would comment on the "darn teenagers" leaving burnout marks at the end of the road. Dad and I would just smile. Two years later I was just about to get my learners permit, when I pulled up to the house on my dirt bike, only to see the massive Oak tree out front had come down in the wind and crushed it front to back. I actually shed a tear of two. I'll always treasure the memory of those Sunday morning "let's go get some doughnuts" drives with my dad.

So my grandma had an old 1977 Chevy k10 that she drove when I was a little kid, like 5 or 6 years old. The issue was that she always had to drive long distances for work, so for the gas mileage it became a weekend truck, and then when she moved it just sat under a carport for about 9 years. Then she gave it to me. I've rebuilt the motor, replaced the radiator and heater core, wiring etc. and its been an emotional thing to see my grandma being so happy about it driving, but the transmission finally gave out, and at the moment I'm waiting for the new one to arrive, but its running almost two weeks late, so here's to hoping that it will show up soon!

I have actually been trying to get a childhood truck back from my local Junkyard since 2011. It's a 1989 Mitsubishi Mighty Max Macrocab (Extended) 4x4 with a 2.6L 4-Cylinder and a 5-Speed Manual. To give an idea of the time, I was 10 when it went in and I'm now 20. The 10 year mark was actually on August 11th. I need a frame for the rear, but the personal value is worth it. Attempting the last amount needed to pay for a haul. Me and my dad had actually went camping that during the week and the day we were coming home, August 11th, 2011, we ended up stopped by the police and it went to the impound. Surprisingly, it's all intact and still there. I was told someone wanted the engine the first month it was there (after the wheels were sold and it became junkyard property), but the individual never showed back up. I'm in the process of restoring my grandfathers 86 Toyota pickup. We worked on it back when I started college but I managed to get busy with school and we were in different towns. My grandfather passed away 2 years ago. I've felt terrible that I didn't really get the chance to bond with him due to life happening, but I hope that in some way fixing up this truck would have made him proud. I was able to get it idling not too long ago, and I can credit this channel and what I've learned here for helping me to to that.

my dad has a 67 mustang currently sitting in the garage. all throughout my childhood it sat there and i only briefly remember taking a ride in it around the neighborhood when i was about 4. ever since that time it’s sat and never ran. we moved house about 4 years ago and took it with us. back then, i wasn’t really into old cars and fixing them, but after watching your videos about 3 years ago of reviving old cars and seeing just how little it took to get them back running, i wanted to do the same real badly. then i realized we had an old car in our garage that hadn’t ran in about 12 years. went through the steps you did when reviving old cars, had to rebuild the starter, put fuel down the carb, and got it running! it ran real good and it felt really good to hear that 289 with a cam and glass packs fire up again. it’s gotten a lot more work done to it, like rewiring the whole thing, putting disc brakes in the front, adding other little things, etc and it’s to the point where it can drive around the neighborhood. there’s still a good amount left to do to it, but it shouldn’t be too long now till it can get roadworthy. just have to find the time to get it done

I have spent the end of my Summer reviving my fathers 1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible 318. My father bought the car over 26 years ago and it was previously parked in a field since 87 and he only drove it up a hill once 23 years ago. I had never seen it move under its own power in my 19 years but i was determined to change that this summer. I used your videos on how to do a revival and in 1 night we were able to get it fired up. After fixing an oil leak and the brakes coming back to life, it was able to be driven around the backyard.(I have since put 2 miles on it turning my backyard into a dirt track) While it is super rough still and needs a full restoration, seeing my dad's reaction when he was finally able to properly drive his dream car that he bought so long ago was priceless! Without your videos i wouldn't have been able to get it running again so i am so thankful for the videos that you put out. Not only are they a great source of entertainment but they are super educational.

My mom is a proud 1 owner of a 1973 Dodge Charger SE. It's dark brown with a white vinyl top and in pretty good shape for the year. It is garage kept and doesn't see the snow. It has the 400 engine, not sure if it's two barrel or four barrel. My mom or dad does take it to car shows back in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area.

    • @auteurfiddler8706
      @auteurfiddler8706 3 ปีที่แล้ว

If the 5th digit of the vin is "P" then it is a four barrel. It might say on the air cleaner lid "400 4BC" And have an orange dual snorkel air cleaner. Also, dual exhausts and half circle clearances in the rear valance above the exhaust exits, and chrome exhaust tips are other things that came with the 4 barrel. Check if you have an 8 3/4 rear axle. No need to measure. From the back it will be a smooth hemiphere with no bolt heads visible. While you are down there, check for a rear anti sway bar running below the axle.
I mention the vin since you can see it in the windshield on the drivers side where the glass meets the dashboard. In case your mom doesn't give you greater access. This is a VERY desirable car, by the way.

He did a total rebuild on it in the late 80s and then it spent 20 years off the road between 93 to 2013. Moving into a new house with a young family back then, meant the car had to take a back seat. Its something that will get passed to me down the line, and it will always remind me of him when he's not around. Cars that spend years in the family really do become part of the fabric.

Great video and fun seeing an old family heirloom get driven around. Sitting out behind my shed is an 87 Toyota xtra cab 4x4 pickup that's more rust than steel at this point. My uncle bought it new in 87, I still have all of the paperwork from the deal. My dad got it around 90 or so. It made it's way from him to my sister and then to me as we both learned to drive in it. It's had wiring issues, spun rod bearings, a trashed A340H transmission and finally a rotted out frame and cab that have parked it, but I haven't been able to bring myself to scrap the old thing yet. Yeah it sits there sinking deeper into the ground and getting more and more rust every year, but it's still there. I get to remember all of the old memories every time I mow around it. I still remember when it was new and the first time I saw it, I was so short/little that I couldn't even climb up in the cab on my own.

How ever, my Dad watches your videos from time to time and he happened to notice your 73 Gran Torino and he has been looking for one ever since he had that 1972 Ranchero, but he had to sell that to because of title issues. And my Mom and Dad loved that car to because of that badass rumble they would have every time they would crank it up and it shook the house up to.
