@@starwarsquillNo need to follow this 1:1 but I had the idea that Palpatine still had the dark side, but instead of willingly killing Cosigna and the rest of his family, he was instead abused and had a psychotic break, Sidious being "born" with the death of his family, a coping mechanism created by Palpatine's mind to lash out at his father. Plagueis would then further strengthen this mental divide, this way, Plagueis would both have a politician completely loyal to him (through lies & manipulation like "Oh, I killed Sidious and saved you") and the perfect Sith Apprentice who was 100% pure evil. So, you have Palpatine, the well meaning and wise politician from Naboo who genuinely wants to do the right thing And Darth Sidious, a monster made of pure carnage and darkness, who has no desire to have any apprentice and kill all who oppose him. A living weapon (briefly) controlled by Plagueis. Then, as Palpatine becomes Chancellor, Sidious kills Plagueis and the divide between the two personalities begins to slowly thin within the decades. Eventually, Palpatine becomes more dark, wanting power not for the sake of it but because he fears that the Republic will fall if he were to lose it. Bad actions, good intentions. Whereas Sidious would gain a hint of mercy for Skywalker, who Palpatine would see like a son (like Goblin having a hint of mercy for Spiderman because Norman sees Peter as a son)

what if palpatine told the senate he was sidious when he was elected (not illegal by the time of the prequels) what if gungi stayed with the bad batch what if caleb joined the bad batch when his master died (could coincide with gungi wanting to stay with them) what if caleb survived the fire on lothal what if anakin blocked windu’s strike instead of cutting off his hand what if ahsoka got to coruscant with maul before mace windu left for the chancellors office

Perhaps it was the beginning of the Jedi not being no dogmatic in their ways. Perhaps it would eventually open the door for them to embrace “a larger view of the force” as it were, and thus balance would be brought to the Jedi Order itself.
