Kudos to you sir for doing this collection in the first place, you continue to outdo yourself. But to have Joe Franklin as the appendix to the collection is comedic genius. Thus EXTRA kudos to you. Thanks once again.
I truly loved occasionally watching Joe Franklin. There was a certain calming vibe to the show. Something reassuring. One thing about Joe was that he was a real salesman. The exaggerations he came out with were never-ending. But that's from the vaudeville-type background he basked in. Good memories of his show.
Joe Frankkiin was wonderful, wonderful tome. I appared on his tv show many many times. It was on one of the shows that I acknowldged a debt to Fred Astaire` for making it look so easy`. I as also on his radio show at least once a month. I remember I was once with Julian Schlossberg (whom I think married the Kennedy girl). Franklin has nipped out to use the loo and Julian and I were stuck there on air with nothing to say or to do. We both simutaneously burst into laughter.
It's so weird, I was thinking about the chair levels bit yesterday, and was wondering where on TH-cam it was. And lo and behold, you uploaded it (again?)
Paul Shaffer is a GENIUS (and a humble one at that). Letterman is a GENIUS (and a humble one at that). You are a GENIUS if you like the Legendary Lee Canady. That sax player was BRILLIANT too. I loved his stance. I will pray for America. 🇺🇸 Please pray for me. 🙏🏻 God Bless you. ✝️
Joe Franklin show lasted longer than the TV series Gunsmoke Joe Franklin was on channel 9 for the longest and on radio w o r radio along with rambling with gambling his secretary was Bernadette Peters
I'm dying to see Spinal Tap on The Joe Franklin show! Legend has it, he thought they were a real band, and interviewed them as such. Anyone know where I can find it???
Hi Don. I've binged watched a lot of your videos. Do you have the Bob Dylan compilation? The first one's from March 22, 1984. I'd like to rewatch them via your wonderful editing.
Hi Don, this is not your thing (cameos on other shows) but you or your fans might find it fun playing "spot the band". It looks like Paul brought some or all of the Orchestra to the Rock Hall at least one time (he is the permanent musical god and master for those ceremonies, right? I never noticed that he took the band with him). Lin k is in my reply to myself, since YT ghos ts most posts with lin ks.
It is impossible to overstate the tremendous number of priceless moments in musical history Paul has been a part of. Yet with all those legendary events I'd bet this - Shaft! - was one of his very favorites. Sorry the sound mix is very iffy for parts of it. th-cam.com/video/ViGrDTGDsfs/w-d-xo.html

Joe just brings you back in time ❤
Don, I know we tell you all the time, but you're doing God's work with these uploads. Thank you x 1,000,000!

Your channel is easily the best of it's kind. I've spent untold hours watching your videos, Don. Thanks as always.
Welcome to the rabbit hole. Thanks! :)

Johnny Carson also referenced Joe Franklin in 1991 when he showed up with the giant cheque.
Joe is a unsung hero of the talk genre
This is funny, I have some Joe Franklin Collectibles that I honestly love but need to pass on!!! Know anyone?

Old Joe reminds me of Jiminy Glick.
Not a coincidence. :)
@@dongiller Also a coincidence that Martin Short appeared on a spoof of The Joe Franklin Show on SNL with Billy Chrystal playing Joe.

Uncle Floyd use to do a great impression of Joe on U-68
Was on the joe Franklin show in the late 80s. Strange experience.
Do you have a tape of it?
I'm dying to see Spinal Tap on The Joe Franklin show! Legend has it, he thought they were a real band, and interviewed them as such. Anyone know where I can find it???
Don your channel is amazing. I wonder if you have any clips of the Book Mobile Lady with Gruff But Lovable Gus? I loved them!
I have everything, and a Bookmobile compilation is in the To Do box.
And thanks!
Never heard of this guy... and has the longest running tall show ever?
How could you miss it - he was all over the country in Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico! (as well as New York.)
Wonder why the audience "ooooh"ed the mention of Dustin Hoffman...
Because Dave had been making a big deal that Hoffman wouldn't appear on Late Night.
Don!! How do you have access to all these incredible clips!!????
Easier to point to a blog post I wrote two years ago rather than explaining it in full here - donzblog.home.blog/2019/01/16/the-journey-begins/

I recently took down the March 22, 1984, rehearsal and aired performance before the Dylan folks could.

Paul and both the WMDB and the CBS Orchestra have been the house band for all but, I think, one of the Hall of Fame ceremonies since it began in 1986.

I doubt Woody Allen did Joe Franklin's show in 1981.
I don't doubt that Woody Allen did Joe's show in 1981, especially knowing that Joe was in Woody's movie "Broadway Danny Rose" in 1984.
