One of the best things about these old White trucks in my opinion is just those steering wheels. Those are some of the best and most comfortable steering wheels ever made if you ask me. I love the thin spokes with the nice big diameter. Modern steering wheels are made too damn thick and bulky.
Nice looking truck. I just bought one of these it’s in great shape as is yours . I can’t wait to do some tinkering on it after this RI winter is over . Keep going on it looking good
Very cool Cab over tractor keep on replaceing what needs replaceing in the next few years in this country we are going to witness a resurgence in Class 8 Cabover Truck Tractors White was a super great truck I wish you would just put new letters on the front that says White I can’t stand White GMC what you have is a classic White Road Commander go all the way with this i can’t wait to see the end result Good luck guys
@ I could not drive manual back in 87 when I started I went to truck driving school and graduated after 10 weeks by the third week i was shifting and by the eighth week I was smiling every day it takes practice but not all trucks are the same you get good on one transmission then you get into another truck and it operates a little different more loose or more tight different shift pattern it took me about 5 years to get seasoned in and a full 10 years to feel accomplished and nurtured to walk into premium jobs to apply and think about becomeing an O/O but I was not financially secure enough to take the big business plunge so I just stayed a company driver

Such a nice ride!
Glad you brought it out of the weather.
Ultraviolet light will dry an crack dashboard panels.
Snow reflects that light.
I agree with you. Thank you
Love it my father built a lot of these trucks in Pontiac Michigan truck and bus General motors
@@keepontruckinoutlawlife1248 That’s awesome I would love to find some assembly line pictures or videos
Thanks
@JeepDaveT I actually may have some
@@keepontruckinoutlawlife1248
Duplicate them and send them.
@@keepontruckinoutlawlife1248 I’ve seen some on line but I haven’t seen any set back axle pictures.
@JeepDaveT right I haven't either come to think about it good point
These are decent trucks I drove a new 78 model for a while it had a 8v92 in it. The dash rattled bad on it. No worse than any cabover I guess
Wow a 78 with a Detroit. That must have sounded great going down the road
@JeepDaveT it did
