Ya know, back in the late 90's and early 2000s, I used to think of the FLD Freightliners as throw away trucks. All the big companies had a bunch of them. However, as I've gotten older, I've come to appreciate these trucks. I think they're some of the coolest trucks out here. They are getting less and less. Nice find!
Funny about your remark about the Freightliners in the 60's all the way yo and including the 2000 year models. I refused to drive one in the winter because running Coast to Coast you would freeze to death unless you has a small heater. I hated them with a Passion. And the International Trans Star your legs were always sore from being cramped in that narrow leg space for a Big man. My choice was always Peterbilt's. Pittam's Trucking in it's time.
Buying a truck and not using it for work is worse than having an old muscle car and not taking it out on weekends. I know it's cool Tim but it's just another truck put that bad boy to work the way it deserves to be ran. Just don't let anyone drive it other than you and your old man if you're worried about it.
I love FLD 120's, my dad drove one when I was a kid. He called her Old Midnight, jet black and sounded mean with her 8 inch stacks. Give this old girl some love!
I believe I have heard brax talk more in just this video, than I have ever heard him talk in all your lives combined. But that is a beautiful fld. Looks all original.
Tim l really like the FLD the only thing I don't like about a FLD is the Front Fenders l don't like that style. But it is an Amazing Awesome Truck Glad 😊 you found it and now own it.
Man you could really feel your passion for trucks when you were getting ready to open that storage unit. Good things come to those who do good. You’re always helping other people this is your reward. God is good brother 🙏🏻
I think I remember seeing that truck when I was at Landstar. I'm retired but got my 2000 KW W900 sitting in my driveway. It's got a 14 liter 550 Detroit. Rare in a KW.
I sure enjoyed the video. I recently purchased an older Inveco 440 Eurotech flattop cabover with small sleeper, at a government auction. It had been stored outside but when I looked at it, everything looked brand new except for the paint. It does have a couple things damaged in the interior, and slightly damaged fiberglass on the bumper, cracked windshield, and peeling paint. The driver side door handle was broken so it was sold as non-running and mileage unknown. I got it home and opened the driver side door and it has less than 30,000 miles. It has spring suspension, double frame, and full locking rear ends. It was built for the military but came white from the factory. It is marked Tanker, on the inside of the cab. I thought maybe I should fix it up as a show truck because there are very few Inveco trucks in America. This one was probably brought back from Iraq. However, I am thinking about cleaning it up, replacing the wheel seals, and purchasing a vac-water trailer and using it in the oil field to haul water. I have my CDL and tanker endorsement and I think that this truck would last a long time and make a lot of money over the next 4-5 years. Trump is saying that he wants America to start drilling for oil, so perfect timing. I thank you again for the video.
If it really was a no miles new truck I could agree with the collector truck thing, but with 281K on it already, Make it look good and send it to work.
I used to swing 160 of those batteries every day into battery boxes at the Freightliner factory by hand. They’ve got it to where you don’t have to do it by hand, now!
Tim, use the primer pump until it gets a little stiffer and you will hear the return valve open when it is done. Those filters were probably still empty since they were changed. If diesel is clear and you can see through it, it’s still good for use. It’s not the same as petrol going off after a few months and smelling bad.
Tim ill be praying for your daddy thats the prettiest FLD I've seen in years its nice. If it was mine it would be really really hard for me to put a driver in it. It is definitely a find of a life time especially with a kitty cat in it.
That's a very nice truck, I had a 1996 FLD 120 mid roof. It was 3 years old when I got it I put almost 3 million miles on it, add to sell it about 6 months ago that truck kept me going for over 20 years years. 430 Detroit with a 10-speed I do miss her.
I remember when those first hit the market, I had to give up a cabover to go into one of them. At the time I hated them but loved my old cabovers. Nice score there dude, put her back on the road. God bless you and yours and thanks for all the work you’ve done with the hurricane victims.
If I were in your shoes I’d keep it as a collector and use it for special customers/loads and/or opportunities that would showcase your business like news events and such. Congrats on a super great find! Oh, and a huge thanks to you, your family, and employees for helping my fellow North Carolinians during the Helene disaster.
Drove a 99 day cab, basically same truck, was brand new when I got it. Had the 60 series detroit. Drove that truck all over the Midwest calling a chemical tanker. Love the way the clutch pedal felt. I'm a short guy and it fit me like a glove great truck
I had a 2001 fld 120 with a 430 hp cat with a super 10 in it. I know one thing about my old truck. It would top out at a 112 mph and I ain't interested in saying how I know that. Lol
Mister gentry cool I'm a subscriber I am so impressed with Braxton watching him grow up with dad sweet❤ he is not afraid of work good parenting my friend🎉🎉
After forty plus years of truck driving I’ve pretty much driven all types. One of my favorites was a 93 FLD with a Freightliner Classic sleeper. Series 60 18 speed and 22’s all the way around. That truck pulled like a freight train and ran triple digits. Plus it was purple and chrome. Sure do miss it.
What a fine Tim what a fine probably only one in the country with that low of miles that’s the same kind of trailer that we have at Fleetpride in Ellenwood Georgia they’re good trailers
Tires are probably dryrot and or flat spotted. But you have a time capsule! Qualcomm satalte communications. Pre emission... Run only with a stellar operator, no accidents or tickets...
I recently saw a small fleet of about ten trucks that were the left over from a liquidation the owner stashed them away almost 30 years ago two were brand new with only delivery KMs and were in perfect condition with plastic still on the doors and bunk it was amazing to see
8:02 I know Tim’s excited when he uses the lords name hahahahahaha that’s so awesome! Congrats you guys!! So happy for you! Much love from Massachusetts. Been a long time viewer since about the time Bruce got in all that trouble and I found your channel.😎🤘🏻
These late 90s trucks pre DPF/SCR are what you want. Many drivers labeled them throw away trucks back in the 90s but compared with what they build now they are solid. Personally I would prefer a Detroit series 60 diesel over the Cat. But getting a pre emissions truck is a win no matter what.
THAT IS ONE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF OLD ROAD IRON. MAKES MY 75 YEAR OLD HEART GO PITTY-PAT. I JUST LOST MY WIFE OF 55 YEARS SEPTEMBER 7TH. SHE HAD BEEN AN ACCOUNTS MANAGER FOR HORNADY TRUCKING FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS. SHE TAUGHT ME TO LOVE AND RESPECT THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY. AND I ALWAYS WILL.GO GETT'EM TIM! YOU OWN A CHERRY!!!
1993 got issued a new freightliner brand new 60 series detroit 10 speed Eaton fuller .all i say i was young and an outlaw driver. They were a beast and put up with a young driver..i wished i bought one back then.
My first solo truck was one of these with a series 60 Detroit. It had around 640,000 miles on it. I think it was a 2000 or 2002 model with the big sleeper. Painted white with the caddywampus factory black plastic bumper. That was the easiest truck of all the different trucks I drove to do a total blind side backup. It was due to those big flat west coast mirrors with the fully pivoting passenger side mirror and the way it moved in reverse. It was a solid and nice truck overall.
First otr job was with PST vans in 93. After 32 years of driving, the FLD is by far the most comfortable driver friendly truck I ever drove. BTW I’m looking for a good OTR job. Yes my MVR is great
Tim you got a true survivor at its finest definition, Please don’t just stick a driver in it and send it out, leave it stock to show America what hauled America!!!
Bout time someone beat ol Bruce to a low mileage "barn" find. What luck to come across a truck like that, kinda takes you back to when we were kids seeing one that clean.
6 TS Caterpillar motor is the engine prefix for the 3406E which was produced from 1993-1997 that can produce between 450-700 horse power. So you have an early 98 built Freightliner then or late 1997 which is a 1998. Beautiful FLD and one of the good years as I say. Gotta love the old FLD's/ Freightliners especially with a CAT in them.. Congratulations Tim on the great find and daaam she sounds good too..
Tim, I remember the first video I watched of yall taking delivery of the air force cab over from Bruce. I would love to see you guys finish that truck and take it to MATS. Brax is growing up quick on you, make them memories brother! This is a super find for sure, very sweet FLD!
Hey, when are you gonna finish the blue truck for Brax and that other truck you bought from the old man. You got to many irons in multiple fires. Pick a project and finish it. Not being mean just saying. Love your drive and compassion. Keep up the great fight and work. Hopefully Dad will be ok. He’s a good guy. 🙏🙏❤️

I love cabovers the most but these to me are the best looking conventional trucks made! I love Freightliners over all of them

That FLD will run for ever with out all that electronic garbage. Very Nice Find.....
Now how many dream trucks is this, lol
Lol, right,
Big dreams!
a car guy/ truck guy/motorcycle guy / gun guy/ lego guy can never have too many "dream" items
Buying a truck and not using it for work is worse than having an old muscle car and not taking it out on weekends. I know it's cool Tim but it's just another truck put that bad boy to work the way it deserves to be ran. Just don't let anyone drive it other than you and your old man if you're worried about it.
I am buying 5 old muscle cars. 3 1969 Plymouth Roadrunners, a 383, a 440 6bbl & a hemi. A 1970 hemi 'Cuda & a 1969 Boss 429 Mustang. My dream cars.
Tim is probably the worst driver in the company the way drives trucks.
Drive it, like you stole it, lol! It'll tell you right away, if it's worthy or not 😂
But there is a difference between a weekend warrior and a full time driver right? What’s the difference
I own 2 muscle trucks, and both are from 1971, I choose when they go out. If i want them to sit for 19 years, that is my choice.
Best wishes on your Dads recovery
This is the gift you give your dad when he gets back from the hospital and is able to work again
Real good idea!
Yeah, this would be a proper gift.
Really you want your dad to work again?
Tim l really like the FLD the only thing I don't like about a FLD is the Front Fenders l don't like that style. But it is an Amazing Awesome Truck Glad 😊 you found it and now own it.

I can imagine the storage owner was impressed by all the fluids spilled all over and diesel on the foundation.
The great thing is that it was parked and stored inside rather than being outside very nice FLD indeed .👍🏿
If it really was a no miles new truck I could agree with the collector truck thing, but with 281K on it already, Make it look good and send it to work.
It's still a collector truck with 281k lol.
I used to swing 160 of those batteries every day into battery boxes at the Freightliner factory by hand. They’ve got it to where you don’t have to do it by hand, now!
I used to HATE those short jumpers in the two battery boxes they are new in the factory, and I was the first one to bend them.
This guy who worked with me installing batteries called that white anti-corrosive grease on the terminals “monkey sperm.” 😂😂 he was crazy!!!
Awesome video. Cool truck. Happy for you and Brax with the special time together getting the truck running. 😊
Tim, use the primer pump until it gets a little stiffer and you will hear the return valve open when it is done. Those filters were probably still empty since they were changed. If diesel is clear and you can see through it, it’s still good for use. It’s not the same as petrol going off after a few months and smelling bad.
The truck is a rare find but the kind of driver you need for that truck is even more rare !
He not putting a driver in it he's going to be the only one driving it but his dad.
Did the previous owner of the truck explain why he parked it right after rebuilding the engine
@JonathanSparks-ht4vq why does that matter lol.
CONGRATS!!!!!! You helped all those people after hurricane Helene so you getting your pay for it. So tickled for you!!!!
Very good point. He is receiving his blessing. 😇
Tim ill be praying for your daddy thats the prettiest FLD I've seen in years its nice. If it was mine it would be really really hard for me to put a driver in it. It is definitely a find of a life time especially with a kitty cat in it.

Damn Timmy Gentry, that kitty cat sounds really good. You're a good man Timmy to get that thing moving again God bless you and yours
Those FLD's are great trucks, durable and dependable. Not as flashy as some, but well built and comfortable. Its the kind of truck that makes money.
I remember when those first hit the market, I had to give up a cabover to go into one of them. At the time I hated them but loved my old cabovers. Nice score there dude, put her back on the road. God bless you and yours and thanks for all the work you’ve done with the hurricane victims.

What a beautiful truck. My dad drove and owned trucks all my life. ❤🎉Congratulations ❤️ 🎊
Really enjoyed seeing you get your son involved. Thanks for the update!
Hot Damn that CAT 😺 MOTOR sounds just like l thought it would absolutely BEAUTIFUL sure do LOVE that sound of Perfect.
What a great find Tim & Brax COOL!!!
I had a 2001 fld 120 with a 430 hp cat with a super 10 in it. I know one thing about my old truck. It would top out at a 112 mph and I ain't interested in saying how I know that. Lol
Test tracks are fun

I’ve gotta say I like my Detroit too, but it is something different when a caterpillar is just sitting there Idling . It just makes you smile.😂
Nice Truck. I miss my 1997 FLD 120 with a series 60 Detroit.🙏
After forty plus years of truck driving I’ve pretty much driven all types. One of my favorites was a 93 FLD with a Freightliner Classic sleeper. Series 60 18 speed and 22’s all the way around. Fat brightness back memories that FLD Freightliner was the first truck I drove when I started driving over the road
That same exact truck? Or same model?
WTF!!! THAT'S FREAKING AMAZING !!! NICE TRUCK🚛🚛🚛
Hey Tim and Braxton are you doing on this beautiful day and I like the content in the videos and I like watching your TH-cam videos
Who's your wife, I paid off 3 trucks with hornady. Worked there a long time. . Sandra and Debra, old pinky..
Sorry for your loss sir.
She sounds great!!! Congratulations!!!
Ive driven the FLDs back in the day, definitely good trucks. That one is in great condition. You got a good one.
That would make that boy a good first truck in a few years .
Fix the Truck up install Duel Exhaust System some Chrome and Show the Truck for a year and then put it to Work.
1993 got issued a new freightliner brand new 60 series detroit 10 speed Eaton fuller .all i say i was young and an outlaw driver. They were a beast and put up with a young driver..i wished i bought one back then.
Keep it stock and clean!
I've driven all the large cars over the years but this is my favorite truck! You are lucky to find one this nice
Need to add a little bit of red and some stars to that great looking rig you found Tim !!
Awesome rig, fella. Hope you got it for a good price 👌
My first solo truck was one of these with a series 60 Detroit. It had around 640,000 miles on it. I think it was a 2000 or 2002 model with the big sleeper. That was a awesome video that is a nice truck hope you all have a blessed night god bless you all 👍🙏❤️💯
I would put some nice matching fiberglass fenders , Two pipes on the side ,18spd and leave the rest original.

I think you need a show truck deck out. I know you Timmy you can lay it out. Good luck brother
Tim, I remember the first video I watched of yall taking delivery of the air force cab over from Bruce. I would love to see you guys finish that truck and take it to MATS. Brax is growing up quick on you, make them memories brother! This is a super find for sure, very sweet FLD!
That's why I love rooster so much
Hey, when are you gonna finish the blue truck for Brax and that other truck you bought from the old man. You got to many irons in multiple fires. Pick a project and finish it. Not being mean just saying. Love your drive and compassion. Keep up the great fight and work. Hopefully Dad will be ok. He’s a good guy. 🙏🙏❤️
These old flds getting snatched up left and right you found something special
People can say whatever they want bout Freightliner, but these trucks produce more profit than a 379,389, or W9. Its lighter and parts r cheap. Got my 99 fld120 mid roof with an N14 525 and a super10 for $10k.
Holy shit, what a find
no kidding!
man seeing that old transponder hanging off that full condo and that dash sure bring back some memories (and that old landstar logo).. sold mine in 2008 with 1.9 million miles.. best truck i ever owned (even though the AC compressor would grenade every other summer LOL).. mine had the detroit 60 series, full lockers, 18 speed, all white with gray lowers and the fiberglass front bumper, personally i never really like the chrome bumper options but thats just me
Where else you see a stock truck as good as this one ? Keep it stock but with some twin stacks and what a find. 👍
I am sure that you checked this out. But before I teardown the transmission, I would check the return spring for the clutch pedal. Thought I heard you say that you were lifting up the pedal. I had several Freightliners over the years. It was always the spring broken. They are inexpensive at Freightliner parts house . Used to be about $5.00 . I learned to carry several in my tool box. Got a small box to keep them from being kinked. Also spayed heavy with WD-40. And put one of those sand packets to prevent moisture. That way they don't rust up. They are a very small diameter wire spring. Any way , it might save you a lot of money. And down time on the side of the road. I usually had to replace mine about once a year
All i can say is that is one beautiful Truck ❤ !!!!!!! 😊!!!
Beautiful time capsule!!! They just don’t build them like they used to!!
wow tim and brax what a sweet catch safe travels y'all god bless
48:01 damn what a clean truck. You got a deal there without even knowing what you paid for it.
Back in the nineties I drove a number of these trucks, some with Cats, some with Cummins and a couple with the 60 series Detroit. They were a good riding truck.
That truck will be parked behind the shop, forgotten then sold and never talked about again like all the others
Yep…
Next time just use a Alligator clip wire to jump the ignition and makes it easier to start.
Tim Gentry and Son
The international cabover 9600 can be found in rilitizo Arizona at dealership Tucson trux and equipment sales
Or the others 9670 international cabover trucks in farmland, Indiana
Please keep updated on how your Dad's doing
Thanks Tim
That truck looks and sounds amazing. Congrats
Brax that 3406e will do things a Detroit wish it could. You are still young and learning the3406e with the right injectors was rated up to 700hp and 2100 ft/lb torque. Stock specks are more than Rooster .
Just look at #FSCTrucking's Orwell, its powered by a Cat 3406.
@@kristoffermangila its all in the little things ones an e-model the other is a b-model makes a lot of difference in the specs.
Timmy man that’s a beautiful truck you guys be safe out there ❤
That sure is one super nice FlD Tim
Very nice great to see another video Tim.
My only concern would be is actually somebody bought the truck new. Could not make the big truck payment . Put it in storage to hide it and then couldn't afford to pay the storage bill eventually . What kind of claim did you have to something like that . What would stop the bank from coming after the truck when they find out you have it and you're trying to get a title for it .
I would be concerned why there's a new motor in it at such low mileage?
The best commercial vehicle ever built ! You're so lucky !
Like. Old. .truck. Nicebest. Wishes. Tim. And. Brax. .😊😊😊😊
Thank you for another great video !
Series 60 Detriot diesel is the best engine for freight hauling ever built ! I averaged 7.7 miles per gallon with mine !
Tim, that is quite the find. I think it should be a collector. Very nice. Nice find.
Hell yeah brother she sounds good I’m looking for one myself they’re
some best semi’s ever made.
Yep, i trained in one of those. Mine was a Detroit with a 10 speed. The last of the good looking Freight Shakers in my opinion.
Good one back on road happy for u
Now, a comment on the FLD. You should paint all your trucks that color. It's beautiful
Why was it rebuilt with less than 300k
Cause it's hooked up to a Rockwell transmission 😅😅😅😅
WOW. Look at that yougan Brax be grown. Ain’t seen em in a while
Freightliner only had 6 different key cuts in those days. Get all your FLD keys and try them, one should work door & ignition.
Wow that's a good find!!
