Having visited America 3 times & Canada twice. I was curious as to how Oban would impact you. Cleary your enthusiasm embraced the Centuries off culture, history period buildings & a magnificent landscape. Love the video & reaction. It is so different from America. Just everyday things are amazing & delightful. I like travel. But I love comming home. Have a great time.
As a 6ft 3 laddie, with a partner who is 5ft 2, boy, do I recognise the look back to see if my lassie has caught up to me yet! Thank you so, so much for taking the time, and care, to make our wee country look so good. Seeing the joy on your faces is infectious. Haste ye back, if naw, lang may your lum reek! (Come back soon, if not, long may there smoke coming from your house!(a sign of prosperity back in the day)(In old Scots). One love from Scotland. 💙 🦁 ⛰️ 🏴
Loved your video. Beautiful views and a really positive vibe. I especially liked the end shot in Glencoe with the violin music. Absolutely breathtaking.
Your genuine excitement is contagious. I keep coming across your videos and I just love them; I sent the one from Edinburgh to my daughter. I live part time in Scotland, Shane (from Denver) and indeed, you are in God’s country and heaven on earth. I get your pure joy 🤩 Keep exploring, and I’ll just have to subscribe now and follow you along. Alba gu brath 🏴
Same here. A few of your videos popped up for me. So wonderful to see your genuine reactions of a beautiful country I hope to visit again soon. Keep up the great work. Just subscribed 💗
I worked in the hotel where you talked about the green moss in the 80s. Thought you would like a fun fact. The bar cellor used to fluid in High tide and the empty kegs of beer would float. Not fun to change kegs at high tide, lol As a young city man Oban was a fun place
🇬🇧 Hi folks. FYI the majority of mountainous areas and moors/valleys of the UK, Scotland, Wales, Cumbria are the result of glacial erosion. Enjoy your stay
I’ve climbed to the top of the 3 sisters many times. But the buachaille etive mor is my favourite. You can see it from the roadside . If you look at the three sisters from the far right and count one sister two sister three. Then buachaille etive mor is the next one you see. It has a little weight House sitting at its base..🫡🤷🏻♂️🏴🇺🇸
Actually Buachaille Etive Beag ridge (munros Stob Coire Raineach and Stob Dubh) is the next mountain along moving up Glen Coe from the leftmost of the three sisters (Beinn Fhada ) but it is less prominent than Buchaille Etive Mor.
Oban is my happy place. If I could move anywhere else in Scotland it would be Oban. It's just got a little bit of everything. Just one thing though - don't pick low hanging brambles (blackberries) - dogs love to pee on those bushes! If the cat was a tabby it might be Monty, he's a bit of a celebrity in Oban!
There are plenty of narrow and sharp ridges on Bidean Nam Bian (the mountain behind the three sisters) and it is possible to climb up the faces of the three sisters on zig zag paths. The other side of the glen has the Aonach Eagach ridge which is a fairly narrow ridge that extends several miles down the glen plus several other mountains that have a number of well known roped climbing routes. The whole area is very much a honeypot for tourists and climbers with many thousands of visitors every weekend but is still very much worth exploring. Just be aware that there are very much quieter and more remote mountains with even better views elsewhere. And much narrower roads 🙂
On the next trip we're going to go remote and off the beaten path, but this trip didn't want to miss the main stays. We did hit some more remote areas though which I'm about to post.
@ShaneMilson moat pubs serve it in the uk. If you see a pub whenever you are in the uk with a hand pump rather thana tap where they pump the beer. That is real ale like a long handle. It doesnt have the additives put in lagers or scrap like that. Like in ice beers they add chemicals bd to normal lagers they add gas. Nothing is added. Cos the beer is Alice when you buy a cask as a pub you have to k ow how to rest and condition the beer. It's a loving creature so you have to be trained on how to keep itm I went on a few courses to learn and won an award for keeping it. That's why it's not as cold as american beer as the cold would kill the yeast. Ruining the beer.
There is an interesting history to McCaigs Tower. A wealthy landowner provided ( in his Will) for the erection of the tower in his honour and it was intended that their be statues in all of the openings including one for Major McCaig. The Will was challenged by the family ( who presumably felt better use could be made of the money) and the court decided such enormous expenditure was unreasonable - “perpetual expenditure for an unreasonable purpose lacking in public sentiment”. For legal scholars this is one example of the limitations on the terms of a Will.
yopu missed the wild rhubarb or burdock, it went by too fast to see it properly when you went out of the folly where people where taking photos (colloseum as you call it) burdock is made into the dandilion and burdok ancient british rink you stil l get to day and rhubarb is rhubarb, also i hope you didnt forget to try british wikld mushrooms you buy them in supermarkets or in restaurants
Enjoying your vlogs Shane, but please shoot the outdoor scenes to include that lovely lady you're with. I don’t know if she's your gf or wife, but please stop running off without her. You're on this adventure as a couple, but it often seems you'd rather experience it alone? It's like 90% your input and 10% hers. It would be nice to even up the contribution. Sorry for the criticism, but I hope you understand I'm trying to be constructive. It's just how it comes across to the viewer (well, this one anyway). Have a great trip - together!! 👍
Genuine question. What's the big deal with raw milk in cheese? I thought that's just what you need to make cheese? If it's pasturised, you have to artificially add the bacteria back in. Am I misunderstanding?
'Pick your breakfast place'??? Can't an American make their own breakfast FGS? Or isn't one available at your hotel/B&B??? Book my fairy too please, ooh!

Another great video of my homeland. Great job guys. You're a natural Shane!
I love the offering of cheese to the mountain spirits 😉
Thanks Johnny! Can’t wait to hear your trip when you go.
Thanks for showing my beautiful country so well.
Beautiful isn't it, the Glen is stunning ❤x my homeland

As a Scottish resident from Inverness, my next favourite place in Scotland is Oban. I hope you enjoy it.

Thank you so much. Just grateful to be in such an amazing country, exploring it. Appreciate you sharing the video and many more on the way! 🖤
Please try to visit the Scottish Borders, if you have the time; I’d recommend Melrose & Peebles. Kelso, if you get that far south. Happy exploring☺️

Ahh that's awesome. What a great looking hotel. Love hearing the history of people who have lived or experienced the areas we are passing by.
If you'd gone just a wee bit further up the hill in Glencoe, you would have come across the Hidden Valley at the top!
“Oban is the Florida of Scotland” 😂😂😂😂somebody hasn’t taken their meds.
Oban is wonderful we go a lot, the beaches just round from the castle are stunning 2, take care have enjoyed your vlogs ❤x
Spent many a holiday in Oban. It's a place that draws you back time and time again, but very busy in the tourist season.

@@UnknownUser-rb9pd Are you trying to teach me about what I can see from my window. I know where it is. I’m looking at it. so don’t even…😏🤷🏻♂️🏴
Still love your enthusiasm. You guys should be tourism ambassadors for Scotland. Btw in Scotland we call blackberries Brambles.
Love yous guys your so positive ❤❤❤
Great video ❤
You were almost at the hidden valley. Go next time 👍
We will go all the way next time.
Oban. Very popular

Plus you have the port access to many of the beautiful islands right from Oban. I can see the appeal after being there.
You didn’t have far to go on your hike to get to the Lost Valley 😩
Next time we'll have more time to go further in.

Blackberries are known as brambles in Scotland x
Lasts shots are literally from Lord of the Rings x
Mountains are sharper behind you and further north.
been to Oban once its beautiful , Glencoe i found spooky but beautiful , the Campbell clan are hated to this day in Scotland
Definitely a weird feeling there - I was shook when I heard the history
BS. My maternal grandparents were a Campbell and a Macdonald and between them they had a family of eleven
also note, Real ale, the british beer is very good for yu. in moderstion, it contains live yeast, and also lots of vitimins and minerals
The ancient and classic way! Yes I can imagine. If I found a brewery serving that I would happily raise a glass.

The West Coast .. yeh unmatched
the west coast of scotland is always warmer than the eastside because of the gulf stream that runs up the west

God's country, as many have said.
Great video guys. Try Ullapool
Oban is the Florida of Scotland, we go there every autumn for a week, from the North East of Scotland.
Alligators

That's exactly what it feels like.
@@ShaneMilson are you going up to Mallaig and taking the ferry to Skye ? 🏴🏴
lol you even have a Saltire 🏴 in the sky, I told you, gods country 😉

Ahh I can’t believe I missed it. Will rewind the footage and see it. Got so focused on recording the video and the blackberries
Scots are taught at a young age not to eat wild berries growing below waist height.
Great video.

Ho dear never pick Low down Blackberries. That are in Male dog 🐕 aiming range. 😮
oh and scotland isnt so much sad, its "mournful"
Everything you have said about food was British , so why not say Britain isnt so much sad , it's mournful then we know you are talking about england .
MaULL, pronounce.
