A friend from Kenya was working in Scotland as a programmer while his wife wax improving her skills as an opthalmic surgeon. Every weekend he had to take his 4 year old son to see the hairy cows, he was fascinated by them.

40 years a Scotsman and been all over, but the best place I've ever seen is definitely Glencoe. Right next to me too, i remember as a kid sitting on a bus and the 3 sisters appearing for the first time. The beauty of it really took my breath away, I'm thinking of it now

Recently spent 3 days in Scotland covering the same trip as you. We hired a car and covered 800 klms in the 3 days. I was born in Scotland, so it was my first time back since I was 14. I live on the north coast of NSW near Yamba. Just loved Scotland and especially Edinburgh. I'm glad you had an awesome time. ❤

Greetings from Scotland! The next time you head North, keep going beyond Inverness and you will experience the true Highlands in all it's splendour! At least you'll get to see it how it is in the particular season you visit, because every season brings a new view a new feeling. I went to the far North on my honeymoon back in 1973 and because we couldn't see everything in one trip, we moved to Lairg in Sutherland to work and live. We brought up a family there and never returned to South Wales. We have lived in all the areas of Scotland but Sutherland/Ross-shire is where we will always call home! Come back sometime and spend more time, it may be a small country, but it has so much to offer! 😊😊

As a Scotsman born in Inverness and brought up in Ross-Shire, with family origins in Sutherland, I second this. Every corner brings a new magical view. There's plenty of room so please do come and visit, and if you do stay, that's even better!

Your boat trip on Loch Ness made me laugh, remembering a similar trip I took on Loch Lomond, in the west of Scotland. The boat was full of American tourists that day, all oohing and aahing over the scenery and talking about how they were really Scottish because their great-great-great-grandfather emigrated back in the day. 😅❤ Meanwhile I was sat on the other side of the boat looking out over the beautiful loch, and noticed something - apparently alive - swimming toward the boat. I swear to God it looked like some sort of beastie, it was huge and it was definitely alive and swimming, it was leaving a wake and everything. I got more and more alarmed, then panic-stricken thinking 'It's a beastie, it's a beastie!' When it got to within a few feet of the boat I realised it was a huge fossilised tree. 😅😅 Some of the loch floors are covered in fossilised forests, and occasionally a tree will break off and float up to the surface. It's astounding how 'alive' they look off in the distance!
I still believe in Nessie though. ❤🦕

So glad you enjoyed all of your Scottish adventure. If you come back (and it sounds like you will!) the West Highland Line train from Glasgow is a good option to get to the Highlands, it's often a finalist in world's most beautiful train journeys and if you go far enough on the line it crosses the Glenfinnan Viaduct (or the Harry Potter Bridge if you prefer!). I'd also recommend visiting some of the islands like Arran, Islay or Cumbrae.
I forget what Highland Cows look like sometimes, in my local park (Chatelherault Country Park) we have a herd of Cadzow White Park Cattle which are a white coated breed.

Loads of wee towns like Dunkeld, west over the other side of Loch Tay are the Falls of Dochart at Killin, spent some of my summers going around different lochs when I was wee. Good that the sun was out for you though lol Best thing to do is find a Scottish friend and rent a car, Tours seem expensive to me, there is one takes folk to Falkirk where I live, shows them the Kelpies and the Falkirk wheel, people paying a lot of money to be driven to places that don't cost anything to visit, It's good if you've no idea where to go and what to see yet, there are plenty of folk in Scotland will give you directions if you're driving.

Glencoe should be on any visitors list. It's the most amazing and beautiful part of Scotland(though the road to and including Skye also is). If you go the north road from Rannoch Moor, you have the most iconic mountain in Scotland - Buachaille Etive Mòr. If you've never been to Scotland before, the west coast is the best coast... if you want scenery.

Is it possible to stay in Glencoe? Sorry that’s probably the most basic question ☺️ but I’d love to go back and stay somewhere out there for a few nights to have longer to see it. I’m picturing a remote airbnb or something with amazing views!

The fog in Edinburgh is called haar, it's a sea mist and it tends to come to an abrupt end, it's not uncommon for Edinburgh to be shrowded in fog but for the rest of the country to have nice weather. Perthshire is full of lovely little towns that are worth a visit. A lot of places do a veggie or vegan Sunday roast option, often with a nut roast to replace the meat. Highland cows are the best, they've got amazing temperaments, they're so chilled out! It's funny how people acclimate to different climates, because you found it really cold here, when it's nowhere near our coldest weather yet...January and February are when it's properly cold! On the other hand, I can't cope with the heat at all!! Scotland is really easy to find your way about in, even if like me you don't drive, and while Rabbie's tours are good (I've done some of their daytrips), they're not the most economical. That's the fanciest rooms you get on those trains, they're usually really expensive so you definitely lucked out!!

i did a highland tour back in april, but not with rabbies. and i agree with you, i did regret letting the tour book the hotel for me. yes with that price we could have found something better ourselves. but before i told the tour to book it for me, i did browse around and it was HARD to find a place in the highlands (i took the isle of skye tour and we stayed at portree), and the tour has a specific radius of where u can stay in order for them to pick you up the next day (which all things considered, made sense so i dont blame them). but yeah, would've been nice if u could just book one yourself, i dont even mind paying a slightly higher price to get a place of my liking

Heilan’ coo = common Scottish pronunciation of “Highland cow”. When I was a child in rural lowland Scotland (65 years ago) farmers would refer to cattle in the plural as “kye”, sheep were “yowes” (a Scots variation on “ewes”), but I don’t think you’ll hear those old Scots words any longer. Enjoy the trip.

We live in a very sad age. We have to have an explanation for everything that happens. We also have to know "the Truth". We have erased Magic and replaced it with boring and dry Scientific fact. I ask you are we any better off? I say we are much the worse for removing the Magic and the Gift we were given called Life. Some things will never be proven they just have to be believed in. You can't explain Love. I mean, not really. Pheromones still don't explain the magic of being in love. Do I believe in Nessie? You bet I do. To quote the last line of "The Maltese Falcon": "It's the stuff dreams are made of." That's why the Highlands are so special, because you can explain the feeling you get when there. You can't explain it rationally or scientifically. You just live it. Excellent Vlog as always, FiBi!!!!!! :)
