How I miss the biannual Springfield Extravaganza. Thanks for the visual trip down memory lane. I always thought the variety of goods was excellent at this show.
Lots of fun things to look at. Loved the yellow fifties table set. Target used to sell fifties chairs for $100.00 per chair. Oh! Oh! 7:43 See the Gems from Burns, pillow book?? I have Gems from Longfellow!! I didn’t know it was a series!! 🧐😍🤩. George!! I enjoy your videos so much! Thank you a thousand times for helping me have fun again.
The yellow formica dining set was a real treasure. It would be perfect sitting in my vintage Vagabond. I can remember, however, our house wasn’t outfitted w/AC so my parent’s chairs would be so hot to sit on in the summer and so cold in the winter! But that yellow is delightful!
George I find it interesting to see what you get excited about and purchase. Most of the time they are items that I would completely overlook. As a newbie to antiques and thrifting I am appreciative of the time you take to explain what the item is and what role it played history.
I'm glad! I had a lot of fun showing as I went through, and I'm just happy that you and others are appreciating the role of these items in our human experiences
Thanks George! Awesome stuff! You are my new favorite & I'm learning so much. I collect American art pottery & I didn't know Bybee until watching you. I just found a piece at a local consignment shop! Would have never known the mark w/o watching you. I was so excited! And I never knew of White Hall stoneware either so I just bought a 2 book set on their pieces after seeing you find the blue vase. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
I'm so glad you found me! I also am glad my info is helping you learn and find more. Bybee had a really long and interesting history. White Hall was new to me until I got to this part of the country and it was apparently a really big deal with 39 companies in that town at one time.

Hi there George. I watch you often and really enjoy your show. You’ve shown me many unique items I’ve never seen before. I’ve been around quite a few years so that’s really saying something. I just want you to I agree with you 💯 about the hilarity of the Vaseline sign. Also, it seemed really strange when that can shot off the shelf and fell just as you happened to be staring at it. Wondering what you make of that, George? 😳😳😳🍀

The Antique Nomad Hi George! I replayed the can thing a few times and I really don’t think it was the wind. The weather looked pretty calm. 😂 I think Something spooky was going on there. I’m trying to figure out if the can was possessed or if you have superpowers. 😊🍀
In the 1990's I got 200 for the Hubley Dog, when I was doing antique shows. Also the shows I did had early hours for dealers and they were always given a discount. I don't know if they still do that or not, but it was a courtesy. Love your video's but surprised by how much prices have dropped on some things. Guess the internet has changed things.
Hi there! The market really peaked around 1990, right before eBay taught everyone that things we thought were scarce were more available when you aggregated the market internationally. However, the relative values and scarcity seem to have held, and the market seems to be rebounding some now
Always interesting and we learn so much about history! Loved the yellow table and chairs...such beautiful style and condition. I'd love to have my place in retro style from that era...goes with my love for Marilyn Monroe and that time! ; ) Loved the jet plane model too...and sure makes me want to go to Hawaii, especially with our Canadian winters...lol...well, when we can travel again. The cast iron boxer is cute...glad you got him and a good deal! Thanks for another fun vid, George! : )

@@TheAntiqueNomad Yup...gotta get a big moving truck...lol ;D ...Yes, it would be great if all goes well, that you'll make it to Vancouver next Summer! Would be awesome to meet you! :D
George, do you remember the price on the oak sideboard? I have one but the drawer is not as ornate. I appreciate the information on the mesh purses as I have two that belonged to some of the ‘greats’ in my family.
I have a feeling I'm about to regret scheduling them when I have, I'll be on the West Coast next month and wishing I could do it at 6 instead of 5. It's hard because viewers are all over the place.
Did you sell the alexandrite cat yet? How much did it go for? I had told you during a recent live that my niece had an alexandrite cream and sugar for sale at her antique store in Shelton. You said it was a good price. Sadly, a customer snagged it before my niece did when the shop opened the next day. So I’m still waiting for my first piece. Love the boxer and Boy Scout ❤️
I do still have it, I'm not sure where it's packed but I'll try to put it aside when I find it and let you know! Sorry you missed out on the cream and sugar.
If you have time ( because I am too lazy to Google it) could you please comment on the graduated set at 25:19 in your video. You were at the salt glaze pottery jug but beside it was a set of about six, round, perhaps cardboard, graduated sized pieces. What was the purpose for those back in the day? I have a modern set from IKEA I bought because of the bright colors and to store things in and to let kids play with.
@@TheAntiqueNomad thank you. Not to belabor the point. It was interesting the way these old ones were different colors and graduated. I will look them up. Thank you.

Yes, I don't know why I said boxer! It's clearly a Boston Terrier, my niece even has a real Boston Terrier puppy...it's funny sometimes how a mistake slips through
I'm afraid because it's a political season that the ads are very heavy and we don't really get a choice about it.
However, the relative values and scarcity seem to have held, and the market seems to be rebounding some now
I've seen that dinette set in my dreams.....
I so wanted to own that one
He’s a doll
Ken? I think I saw him there
Always interesting and we learn so much about history! : )
Thank you! I'm looking forward to traveling to Vancouver next Summer if things are back to normal, I understand. The yellow set was so fantastic, I wish I could've fit it in my van
@@TheAntiqueNomad Yup...gotta get a big moving truck...lol ;D ...Yes, it would be great if all goes well, that you'll make it to Vancouver next Summer! Would be awesome to meet you! :D
I want that yellow table and chairs. Wish I knew where that guy is. I love that set.
I wish I knew exactly, he's in Northern Kentucky somewhere
George if you bought those two cement lions you could make your place look like Graceland....lol
I've owned pairs before but I'd need a larger house to pull off Graceland lol
George, besides needing a larger home to look like Graceland, you would need horrible taste!
George, do you remember the price on the oak sideboard? I have one but the drawer is not as ornate. I appreciate the information on the mesh purses as I have two that belonged to some of the ‘greats’ in my family.
I'm glad the mesh purses triggered your memories! Look inside the metal part to see if they have maker names. The oak sideboard was $450 I believe
I think "the boxer" might be "a Boston terrier".
Has the 3 cupid photo sold?
It is and I should know better! The cupids sold
Another great video! Loved the boxer; I’ve only seen the terriers.
I mistakenly said boxer when I meant Boston Terrier, but I hadn't seen it either!
I still love it no matter what breed iris!
Missed another one darn it. I live on the West Coast so you’re usually done by the time I get home from work.
I have a feeling I'm about to regret scheduling them when I have, I'll be on the West Coast next month and wishing I could do it at 6 instead of 5. It's hard because viewers are all over the place.
Omg i bought two of the medal lawn chairs for 1.00 each restoring them this summer
That's fantastic! Some bargains are still out there
Nice job. Maybe I will see you in 2021.
Thanks, I hope to be back there again!
@@TheAntiqueNomad Do you go to Brimfield as well. A lost year in that regard but...
Hvert is the little bell yoy want me to press ?
Oh, you have to subscribe and then you'll see the bell. It's so subscribers can click and be notified of future videos
The Antique Nomad - That would be great! Thanks.
Are you sure It’s not a Boston Terrier? Boxers are diff.
You were right, and my niece who has a Boston Terrier was quite annoyed! I misspoke and somehow didn't catch it in editing lol
Hi,George!
Hello again, Geltha! I'm glad you got to see this
If you have time ( because I am too lazy to Google it) could you please comment on the graduated set at 25:19 in your video. You were at the salt glaze pottery jug but beside it was a set of about six, round, perhaps cardboard, graduated sized pieces. What was the purpose for those back in the day? I have a modern set from IKEA I bought because of the bright colors and to store things in and to let kids play with.
They're called Firkins when made with those style bent wood sides. They were used in the early days of America to hold cheese, butter and the like.
@@TheAntiqueNomad thank you. Not to belabor the point. It was interesting the way these old ones were different colors and graduated. I will look them up. Thank you.
Great stuff. Are u located in WA?
Yes I am! At least currently. I'm from Seattle and am here until Election Day
@@TheAntiqueNomad may be moving up there in the next yr. Sound like mpre stuff there than in northern CA
I have a question at my local antique store there is a whiting an davis purse up for sale for 40 dollars really good condition. Is that a good deal.
That seems like a reasonable price
Thank you. But since i was in a roll over accident last month an was in the hospital for 12 days someone bought it. I will find another.
Where do u sell? I'm interested in the antique photo
If you mean the daguerreotype of the woman, I have it with me as part of my show stock. Email me at TheAntiqueNomad@gmail.com with your shipping address and I'll get you a quote!
Boston Terrier perhaps
Yes, I don't know why I said boxer! It's clearly a Boston Terrier, my niece even has a real Boston Terrier puppy...it's funny sometimes how a mistake slips through
George, Weiss is pronounced with a "long I" sound (as in "ice"). If it were pronounced "weece," the spelling would be Wiess.
That's what I always said, that's also the correct German way
Yup. I mean ja. ☺
Crazylamplady's partner Drew would have loved that cub scout that you opened your video with.
You're right! I didn't even think of that. I don't know whether Jocelyn saw that piece when she was there, it may have sold before she arrived
Sorry, I've quit watching because of so many ad interruption😫s
I'm afraid because it's a political season that the ads are very heavy and we don't really get a choice about it. If you join us during the premieres, you won't see many, they add more after the fact I think. You are able to skip them generally, or you can pay TH-cam a $12/month subscription for "Premium" and then you won't see any more ads on any channels.
