    The best part of your shop is how much joy it obviously gives you. I feel the same way about my own "little slice of heaven". Thank you for inviting me into your happy place. I enjoyed it.

    I enjoy how every woodworker seems to have that one tool family they love, like your saws, and Ben Crowes planes. I like small hammers

      Yeah it's funny, we all seem to have soft spots like that. I love planes too, but saws have that special place, maybe because I don't use them very much.

    Hello Seán and thank you to all of the good folks involved with making your videos possible. I truly appreciate all of the helpful information that you are sharing with the world. I am hoping that you may have a moment to answer how you use a biscuit jointer in your workshop. You had mentioned that you were surprised at how it became part of your toolset.

    • @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars
      @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars  ปีที่แล้ว

      So the biscuit joiner isn't too much use in terms of guitar building, but I use it to reinforce the joints on the guitars stands that I build. I sometimes use it to align wings on a neck through, though.

    Love a good workshop tour. Yours looks like a well thought out space & somewhere you must love to spend time in.
    Possibly 2 years too late but with your workbench, why not grab a sheet of plywood & raise the height by making a torsion box to sit on top of the existing one? Quick, easy & sturdy. Will save your back :) You could raise the height to the desired level simply by cutting the sides & cross supports to however many inches. Join it all with dowels & glue &/or pocket hole screws if you have a jig. Could be built in a few hours.

    • @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars
      @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars  ปีที่แล้ว

      I spent plenty of time getting that workshop right, and I loved it!
      Raising the workbench wouldn't have been a bad idea at all. I had always planned on building a "real" workbench at some stage, as that one was really just a 2x4 and ply job knocked together.
      I'm finally getting to making that "real" bench now though, even if I'm not in that workshop anymore.

    Very similar to the layout of my workshop. The latest thing I have done to combat dust is to replace the bag on my chip/dust collector with a cartridge filter, made a massive difference!

    This stuff massively appeals to the nosy fecker in me. Just setting up my own wee shed at the minute, maybe half the size of yours, but still getting some ideas. I know you're over in Crimson at the minute but it's still cool to see your setup.

    Very nice, I love the space, I work out of my basement But we will be moving in a few months & The first most important thing when looking for our next home is My workshop. My wife wants an attached garage so She can come check on me because I spend a great deal of time making stuff. Thanks again & God Bless

      I know I'm not the smallest shop out there, but at times I feel like I might be with all of the "stuff" I've packed in. My previous "shop" was half of a 10x16 steel shed, so this was certainly a massive step up at the time.

    Nice shop, Sean Thanks for the tour and look at it all! Do you get cold there enough to hurt your glue? I store mine in the heated office, but did keep in a closed cabinet with a light bulb when it was out in the shop. It gets cold enough here in South Carolina to ruin water based stuff especially. I am remodeling now, then I will be doing a Shop Tour too!

    • @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars
      @AwenLutherieCustomGuitars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a million, I miss my little Irish shop alright! It did get cold enough to affect glue though, yes. During the day I had a heater so it was OK, but if I wanted to glue something overnight, it came into the house. It certainly got cold enough for the glue to chalk up and not cure, and that sure was a pain!

      Funny enough, this has never happened! I have thrown it across the room once or twice though. I've also turned it on a few times with the chuck key in the chuck and it looks kinda funny!
