Enjoyed the video Rudy. It’s too late for me “to get in on the ground floor” as it relates to building a CD collection I’m afraid. Hi There from France, you are totally right about buying CD's now, especially the first editions were not re-mastered with too much loss of dynamic range. About 15-5 years ago i was always buying up vinyl from yard-sales/flee-markets, now it's CD's.Everybody here now thinks that their old badly-kept albums are worth i don't know what (Vinyl revival for the masses). I recently saw a talk on youtube hyping CDS. Went and found I still had tons of CDS that I had never sold back during the big digital revolution. Bought a nice little boombox and opened it. Put one of my old cds from the 2000's on and boom nice clear music filled the room. Sounded just as good from when I bought it. They are amazingly resilient. Best physical media to own. Glad I kept them. Even found two new cds very cheap at the store. Time to continue rebuilding the collection! Also CD players and cd stereo system with speakers can be bought at Wal mart for a reasonable price. Buy them before they go up in price.
Collecting and listening to CDs is a fun hobby. I recently picked up a Sony D-5 (the original compact CD player from 1984) and it makes them even more fun to listen to. Just crack open a beer, throw on a pair of great headphones and get lost in the music.
just subscribed. Cds are a great buy I spent $30 at Goodwill for 30 cds amazing finds along with a vinyl copy of Cream's Goodbye VG+ with the poster. You are so right now is the time to load up on cds.
The saying ‘what goes around comes around’ I use quite often in my life. I work in a charity shop (UK) and the amount of CD's we sell is creeping up slowly and I notice a lot more people looking at them and the amount we receive as donations going down. I think charity shops may wise up and re look at their prices. I've picked up a few from as little as 50p.

Nice haul, Rudy! By the way, about that Japanese CD: while DVDs and blu-rays are subject to region encoding, audio CD's aren't - they can be played anywhere in the world. (I have dozens of CDs from Japan that I enjoy regularly.) If it has special CD-rom content on it, that might throw off your CD player, and enough scuffs in the right places (usually right by the hub) could also make it unreadable. I hope you're eventually able to play it!
Yes .. starting to collect cds… I have found out like so many others that often the first releases from mid 80 through 90s are often better then the remastered reissues…not subject to loudness and often near flat transfers… so with more modern dacs sound great….
Awesome video! I've began collecting CDs again myself and backing them all up :). The price of CDs for what you get nowadays is unbeatable! And the music is ours to keep and listen to and pass on! Cheers, have a blessed day
Nice score! I agree with you, it seems cds are on the rise. I've been hunting them for a couple years now. The discs are being grabbed up at yard sales and flea markets, and the prices are increasing. But still many great bargains to be found...
I just started collecting CDs again but I am shocked at how hard it is to get good CDs. I went to 2 thrift and 1 pawn shop. After looking through 1000+ CDs I only ended up getting 20 CDs. I didn't see ANY old school 90s CDs that everyone used to have.
Hi There, That’s cool you’re getting your CD collection going! Hang in there you’ll find that they are everywhere! I had some dry spells too. Today I came across a fresh donation of about 100 CDs at the goodwill for 1.99 each. There were lots of good artist to choose from but many of them I had already, so I only ended up taking three. Also I always do really well at yard sales! Thanks for watching and happy hunting! God Bless! 😊🙏
Hello Rudy Im Paul..tripped on your channel from Noble Records and subbed.Yes loved the Specials RIP Terry...I have never stopped buying CDs...and truth be ..most times best bang for the buck.Just in these last 6 months have found incredible deals with CDs some as low as 50 cents apiece and minty.Great stuff great video thanx for sharing and take care
RIP Terry Hall. Also co-wrote the tune Our Lips Are Sealed with the GoGos. 1st specials lp produced by Elvis Costello. Great album. Yea, cds are hot where I am now. Hot tip: Barnes and Noble usually has a great $4.99 selection of classics and some $7 and $8 cd deals.
I think that the cd is the most practical way in today’s world over vinyl. The cd is more portable, more durable, easier to handle, recordable, smaller, and playable in cars, and they don’t wear with use like vinyl. AAD CD’s to me sound the best. Digital remastering of analog recordings to me causes distortion in the sound giving them that metallic sound. They also have up to 80 minutes per cd which is a good bit more than what you can safely put on vinyl. I’ m all for improving the sound of the cd and bringing it back. The AAD cd might have some tape hiss but you have to turn your stereo up to hear it because of the analog tape involved. I have heard some very good sounding AAD CD’s through the years. A friend of mine had a cd that was digitally remastered and he noticed that parts of the sound were missing, but were returned when he later replaced the cd. In short to me this digital remastering of analog recordings is a detriment, not an asset to CD’s maybe they with research and development the cd can improve the sound to come a lot closer to that of vinyl.
The song was a different take or different mix. Incorrect master tapes are pulled all the time. Single versions and album versions frequently differ. The medium has nothing to do with it.
@@StevieBoyesmusic 45's were mixed hot as well. I know the concentration for many collectors is on albums though. Personally I like a mix where almost everything is at the same volume....like you hear it on the radio.
@@DorianPaige00 yeah, less dynamic is sometimes better. Just the original vibe of the record can get lost if there's too much limiting and distortion trying to make it loud and trendy sounding.
Cassette tapes too. I love the mechanical clunk sound of the button presses and the ffw/rewind whir. And you’re getting that analog sound cheaper than vinyl.
Goodness, what you are saying is transporting me back to the 1970s. I would buy blank cassette tapes and record from the radio. Mix tapes if you like. I would wait for a favorite song to come on holding the record button.
Nice haul, sir! In 2022 I got into CDs for the second time after a long break. Recently I bought a 350-CD collection for 20 bucks, the guy simply wanted to get rid of them and stream everything. Sure, more than half of it wasn´t my taste, but there are lots of good ones too - still a steal.
Mister you got a great deal there all those CDs for $30 you won I have close to 7,000 CDs Now I have a great collection and I also have vinyls I have like 100 vinyls now but I prefer the CD it's clear
Wham! Make It Big was the first CD my parents bought me in the 1980s so it's nice to see the album cover right in the middle of the frame even though I know that's obviously the vinyl version and not the CD. My original CD copy of it still plays just fine too.
CDs here run anywhere from 59 cents to a dollar at thift stores. I have bought a BUNCH over the past ten years or so. It takes some digging, but the hunt is half the fun. Might unload a few with some incentive. Pawn shops also sometimes have them; they'll probably give you a deal if you buy a few. I've gotten those for a quarter each at times.
Of course… I don’t really use the remotes on my stereos but for 7.99 you can also get a universal remote…. idk… what do you think? thanks for watching!
What $30 can get you in CDs might get you 1 vinyl. But I do remember when CDs were $15 and more and records and cassettes were $7.99 or $6.99 AC/DC value music.
I agree 100% with cds. I never stopped buying them. My latest purchase is the new Megadeth- The Sick, the Dying, and the Dead. I also am an avid vinyl collector with a nice set up. But prices have been increasing for new and used records for a while now. I like playing cds though and find them really convenient and fun to do. I still even make cdrs off of my desktop for my car. Most recent one I made was my download of Momma- Household Name. It made me laugh when at the end of this video you show your bonus cassette of MJ Thriller. I found that used years ago for a dollar and still have it. I have a stash of tapes that I keep, but don't really play. I think the audio quality of the tape playback is lacking and just doesn't sound as good as cd. Great deal for $30, Rudy.
Shhhh. Don't let out the best-kept secret, that those of us in the know have been buying up the best material out there for as little as 5 cents a disc while the vinyl people are getting reamed. The prices will go up if too many people catch on, lol.
I do the same because after Vinyl going through the roof because of scalping assholes.... CDs will be next on the chopping block. DVD Audio and SACD are already lost to the scalpers too... so.... not much left.
Cd's reached their peak around 1991 but were still selling well into 2000-2010. At least that's what I noticed. Once Spotify, I-Tunes, Amazon started offering music streaming that's when cd sales dropped off. This new generation dies not collect music like old timers like myself do. Records have made a comeback but new vinyl prices are off the charts for the most part. I still buy cds because they don't take up the space of albums. People say vinyl sounds more natural and warmer than cds, well these ears can't hear muchdifference. I will buy records from time to time when I see the ones I want in the Target ckearance section. Found some real bargains as an example Pink Floyd's "The Wall" for $10.49. And The Rolling Stone's "Honk" for the same price. Bith are 2-Lp's and 189 gram vinyl. But there's no way I'll spend almost $50.00 at Walmart for The Rolling Stone's "Hot Rocks" 2-LP's and colored vinyl. That's highway robbery.
Whenever someone goes to WALMART looking for music and they see an LP for $27 and then they see the same recording on CD for $5.99 which one do you think they're going to purchase?
a couple thrifts will let me get all the cds I want for 25 cents. do you think I should always take them up on getting them all? couple times I have. I sell a bunch on ebay.
I buy Vinyl regularly but everything is so pricey now. CDs still have a great used selection at a fraction of the price. So i’m getting 15-20 cds for the price of 1 LP
I like CDs bc I can rip them to them my PC and have my music in lossless audio. And I like flipping through the lyric booklet. I hate how video games got rid of manuals. btw you can totally rip the audio from that Japanese CD on to a PC, I've done it with CDs from the UK, Germany, France, and Japan. I think I even have an Australian pressing of a CD lol
Don't want to burst your bubble again but that Motor City comp are re-recordings. Not a Motown era cut anywhere. Probably an Ian Levine 80's version. There actually 10+ versions of Bad on cd. Michael actually changed the album every time he released a single which were mixed differently.
I’m not sure why my bubble would be burst? I got a two CD set with great songs from Motown legends for $1. They’re still great songs and I don’t mind at all if they are remixed. It brings new life to old music. Plus I already have the original recordings on other CDs and vinyl ready to go. I really enjoyed listening to this CD… but the point I’m trying to make is what a great buy CDs are right now. Thanks for watching!
@@DorianPaige00 that’s great! Even though I’m sharing the value finds, I’m will to pay more for certain artist that I can’t easily find! Happy hunting!
The commons will always be common....get the harder to find cds while they are still not all already in collector's hands. That's when prices rise. You want period obscure Hard Rock and Hair Metal you are already late to the party
Thanks for the comment and watching the video. That’s cool you like collecting rare cds.I pretty much just buy what I like wether it’s CDs or Vinyl. Happy hunting God Bless! 😊🙏
I'm all about CDs.. All this trendy download garbage is for the younger crowds and those are the people you need to convince not the veterans like us..
Snap crackle and pop, check out for warped vinyl and poor sound, handle with white gloves to keep clean and wait for the hop skip and jump on any vinyl record, welcome to the world of vinyl fashion fad snobs. Give me cd's any day, had enough of vinyl in the 50's and 60's until cd's came on the scene and never looked back, with decent kit sound better.
Nice debut Rudy.. I'll be watching again just subscribed. I'm vinyl and analog all the way but with vinyl at premium prices these days I can learn to live with the digital format!! Looking forward to your next video!!
Apart from the compression of a basic 320kb mp3 download being acceptable a CD is far more friendly as a possession. Holding a CD complete with a cover and an inlay booklet/artwork is better than any download or listening from Spotify etc. I understand the difference of opinions for listening mediums but CD's just work for me better than all others. I have a cellar full of old DJ gear just sitting there in the dark, a mate was having a clear out of his stuff and asked if I wanted to buy it (2 Pioneer CDJ's and a Pioneer DJM250 mk2 mixer). Did I need em? no, but at the price I paid they will go to a good home. I work from a hard drive when I'm in front of a crowd, I only hear the "sounds" when I'm working as a DJ but at home I can "listen" to music with a CD. My CD's act like my diary, I can tell you when, where and why I bought them. Time to re-invest in your childhood pleasure's guys.💿📀💿📀🎧🎚🎛
I have a pair of Numark NTX1000 Turntables that I bought new for $400 each and they’ve been pretty good to me. The Pioneer PLX1000 & PLX500 are also pretty good and they will set you back $300-$650. If you have the money the Technics 1200s are great but you’ll pay about $2500 for a new one. depends on what you want to do with them. I’ve had turntables that cost much less & speed adjustment was just fine. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Great comment! thanks for watching! 🙏
The specials still get hips moving at my dj gigs?
Whenever someone goes to WALMART looking for music and they see an LP for $27 and then they see the same recording on CD for $5.99 which one do you think they're going to purchase?
The Green Day Dookie CD has a few different versions with different back covers (one with Ernie from sesame street and one without).
a couple thrifts will let me get all the cds I want for 25 cents. do you think I should always take them up on getting them all? couple times I have. I sell a bunch on ebay.
Hi Eric, If you’re making Money on them I would buy them take what you like and sell the rest! Thanks for supporting the Channel! 👍
My local thriftstore sells CDs 3 for 1.00
I believe The Blue Hearts came out earlier before that band. None the less cool find. The Blue Hearts were kind of like The Clash. Great band.. )^_-)/
Good to know… I’m really digging on their music. Thanks for watching!
I have a huge LP/CD collection. I like the convenience of MP3s, but physical music trumps digital music any day!
if that first slipknot album is in good used condition its easily worth $15-20 currently. Give it a few more years it'll be worth $50+
You might be able to play and convert that cd on your computer.
Urban Hymns by The Verve was $46.99 on vinyl at my local shop. The 💿 was $4.99 used. I got the 💿. Great album but not 50 Dollars great. Not much is.
I buy Vinyl regularly but everything is so pricey now. CDs still have a great used selection at a fraction of the price. So i’m getting 15-20 cds for the price of 1 LP
If i buy a cd it will be just to rip them to flac audio.
@@rudyonduty The cds I buy are typically $10-30 but they are niche but still worth it.
Just found me a Dookie CD for a buck. The vinyl was going for 30... No brainer bro
Do you buy cds from abroad?
Hi, I only buy locally at thrift stores and yard sales. Thanks for watching! 🙏
@@rudyonduty oK thanks
I'm all about CDs.. All this trendy download garbage is for the younger crowds and those are the people you need to convince not the veterans like us..
Snap crackle and pop, check out for warped vinyl and poor sound, handle with white gloves to keep clean and wait for the hop skip and jump on any vinyl record, welcome to the world of vinyl fashion fad snobs. Give me cd's any day, had enough of vinyl in the 50's and 60's until cd's came on the scene and never looked back, with decent kit sound better.
I hate greatest hits albums. They are just a band sell out and cash in.
Nice debut Rudy..
I'll be watching again just subscribed. I'm vinyl and analog all the way but with vinyl at premium prices these days I can learn to live with the digital format!! Looking forward to your next video!!
It's usually the label that does it. The band just goes along with it cause they don't really have a choice.
I guess you need to swing front and back to get into a speaking flow. I just need to close my eyes and listen to you and not watch you.
😂
Love 💿 and LP Albums
great video also a collector of vinyl and cds questoion for you.......what is the best TURNTABLE that is adjustable speed??? thanks cheers
@@rudyonduty thanks so much for the info cheers
