I recently discovered Steely Dan Aja...since then I found the MFSL gold CD, last week I found the 8-Track! Love that Bangles album, I grew up with the tape, super memorable. Pulled out my Dead or Alive CDs recently, they are good, some of the covers look like goth music, they don't match the vibe of the actual music. Get the Pet Shop Boys 1st album, it is an absolute gem. Last week I found someones collection at the goodwill, all alternative/synth pop. I got Marc Almond, Camouflage, Love & Rockets, Cetu Javu, Hubert Kah, Kitchens of Distinction, Kon Kan, Anything Box, The Ocean Blue, 808 State...all just Fing Great! I would say the best of those is Anything Box - Peace, whole album is fantastic. Funny I was looking up Cetu Javu prices on Discogs one night & found the CD a couple days later...such great luck to find it for $2, especially since it is from Germany, rare in the USA. The goodwills & other thrift stores are a goldmine out here in California. Especially since everyone is record-tarded and only buy records and not CDs...so I get dibs. I actually prefer CDs, I have records too but they take up too much space...I buy like 100+ CDs per month and maybe 2-5 records...all at $2 a piece at goodwill=budget deal

Thanks for this video Rudy! It really helped me a lot due to a rough few months financially and I learned to fall back in love with my existing music collection not to mention I also archived my music inventory to Discogs recently and I found Sooooo many albums that I honestly just forgot I had! It’s been a great week finding and re-discovering my music. Things are looking better again and I’ll be buying a few more new albums soon but I’ll be organized from here on out thanks to you 🤘🏼 😎

The opposite and no trend: Buying old CDs will produce mixed results in audio quality. Reason being, CDs made in the 80s and 90s used Pre-emphasis (a hidden eq for noise reduction we weren't supposed to know about) and all CD players use De-emphasis. CD burners did not have de-emphasis though and disc makers stopped using it around the early 2000s it's believed. Audiophiles are finally starting to realize that all those thousands of CD's they've backed up to hard drive over the years probably have to be redone or converted with software to de-emphasize them. This goes way deep. There's lots to read about. People are literally trying to figure a way for a class action lawsuit because all CDs are defective (it'll never happen + statute of limitations.)

i only have the first pet shop boys Lp and cost me maybe 3 years ago in mint condition , or i felt it never had been taken from the innersleve ever, paid 10€ only because there are 3 songs that have some detail i enjoy ,music wise or words wise, you´re paying a lot for your records i´ve bought some on Ebay but not even 20€ i paid, as an example was Dream syndicate live at the raji´s, i enjoy several songs from this band and it was a record recorded directelly into DAT but the vinyl sounds incredible good much more a live album with basic analogue instruments but if you hear the cd is unheardable compared with the vinyl my problem is the cd sound not nothing else ,only the covers were a sad to have them at a so tiny size ,as my original doble Lp is warped , a friend of mine let it catching sun, it happen three time so since 1990 not one record leaves home,i used to go to a store thinking "i´m going to buy this cd but when there i saw other i had to have so instead of one cd i used to buy two LP´s records

i always bought records, between 94 and 2017 never bought one record but when in 2017 and while hearing to my old records i notice a lot of diference from the cd and the vinyl in a lot of albums when hearing for the first time some 90´s albums that i bought in cd i knew i had to buy records again but the most i paid for a record was 22€ and when a new album is released i record it to a reel , Cassette, DAT or Minidisc, when after at the most 3 years i buy it for 20€ or around it ,i have several cd players that are really good but my turntables are most of them from the 70´s and some i still have new substitution needles as the new ones are far from they used to be and incredible expensive on top, but my stock is ending ,as an example i have three turntables using the shure VNP-15 ,i put the last one on one of them but the ones i saw for sale are looking like a joke to record listeners , i had bought after 1979 ,only two turntables in the 80´s the PL-707 from Pioneer ,the SL-M1 from technics and in the 90´s the TD 2001 from thorens ,in total i have 37 good turntables ,being maybe the cheapest a Dual 1224 from my grandmother that died already for more than 10 years but it sounds perfect better than most of the Rega and Pro-Ject turntables, being this last brand the worst i eversaw at incredible high prices, only last december bought a new age turntable the P10 who sounds good with a Hana Umami red as i kept the alpheta 3 ,one of the three options of choice when buying it , but i have access Hana cartridges for a very low amount, it looks good and sounds ok but it seems that will never last more than 40 years like others i own, you just have to find them cheap, old ones i already have them so only new i sometimes when really liking it i have to buy the record and this diference i notice in sound quality being the cds always lower quality sound compared to vinyl or wax it gets bigger as you have better speakers or amplifiers ,if those cheap compact systems around 100€ are nice to have besides your bed to listen to music while trying to sleep or when trying to get up, but quit on vinyl is like quiting on music unless you record from cd to any of the formats i refer to that i don´t have the DCC from philips , but to a cassette or reel that is less expensive you´ll have a better sound, later you´ll find the records you want for a afordable price, keep on spining them records

My girlfriend and I have built a "media room" in our living room where we have a system that plays vinyl, CDs AND cassette. We mostly put on CDs and its what we have most of in terms of physical media and we love it! Always fun having friends over and having them choose a cd to play while we all hang out together. AND less stressful than letting ppl touch our records, much safer with handling a CD.

Some nice finds there for sure. Interesting question you pose about lyrical content and how it will stand the test of time. I have some hip hop and rap in my collection but primarily what's known as 'conscious' hip hop. This type if hip hop/rap tends to be aimed more at ethnic/race struggles and day to day living within a specific ethnic minority. A few local examples (I'm from New Zealand) are Dam Native, Upper Hutt Posse and Frontline. These are perfect examples of 'conscious' hip hop that blends hip hop, rap and reggae in a very unique style. Yes, they still run plenty of explicit content but most songs have a strong backing storyline as the background to that content. I probably only listen to this stuff once or twice a year, but find it refreshing from my usual wheelhouse of glam metal..😂 Speaking of that, a new find for me this week was an album from Lillian Axe...their self titled album from 1988/89. Awesome stuff! Thanks for another great video too mate. Always interested in what you have to say and display!

We had a two week trip around the northeast US - the rental car had satellite radio so we listened to new wave, jazz, French pop music, and Phish. Favorite WAR tune is “Spill The Wine.” I visited a few music stores while in the northeast and bought about 20 CDs - mainly jazz, but with two older Billy Joel CDs (Streetlife Serenade, Turnstiles). Got a few dollar bin jazz scores. Albums will have to come down in price SIGNIFICANTLY for me to start buying them again. You got a great score - well done, Rudy!

MOST vinyl nowadays is obscenely overpriced. This is a terrible, terrible time for fans of 60’s to 80’s Rock & Jazz, especially with both collectors and flippers running like mad to thrifts, estate and garage sales and special”blowouts” elsewhere. I’m glad I got what I got when I got it. I’m largely done. Any new stuff I might get interest in? Cassette recorder? Meet Internet!😎

You didn't get the slip cover for Superfly but the double disc is the version to get. I have several Sequel UK twofer cds of his albums from later on in the 70's. I have the US and the Japanese press of Chaka's Epiphany cd with a key bonus track called "It ain't easy lovin' me". The War best of disc is solid but some criticize it because the versions are actually shorter than the single versions found on 45. Many are promo radio edits. I have the 40th anniversary edition of The World is a Ghetto with two bonus cuts and that one's becoming tough to get. Speaking of George Benson and Digital Underground. There's a rare promo cd version of Digital Underground's "No nose job" that sampled George Benson's "Love X Love". I always loved the limerence of "I just want to hang around you." Lovesickness at its best! Most of these were pretty common and stayed in print for a long time. The Superfly double disc is the one worth a bit. Try getting the rest of the catalogs and they'll cost you a lot more because the licensing label discontinued them after a few years. I paid $15 for that promo digital underground cd and I consider a huge bargain since only about 500 were pressed and the version is way better than what got released.
