    While I do agree with you about the weight, I think this does fill a niche in the x39 market. I have the 32 rifle and am working on getting/SBRing the 32p. As an owner of many AKs, I noticed the 32 outshines them.all in the accuracy department. My first range trip I was amazed at how accurate the rifle was. So much so that I am thinking of scoping it. I wish I still had my young eyes because I'm not a fan of scopes, but this little rifle needs it if you want to wring out the best of it.

    I forgot to mention how smoooooooth it is to shoot. Really cool.

    This may be a bit late but I have one, love it to death, I'll take this over my AK, the PTR also extremely consistent recoil, it just bounced strait up and down compaired to the AK even with all the additions. Originally put a compensator which made it extremely flat shooting. I can shoot this gun all day compaired to an AK where I'm good after 10 rounds. If you want to use steel mags you have to round out the feed ramps by bending it a bit until it feeds otherwise relyable and still works with my regular AK. Also some polymer AK mags need a dremmel to cut them to more the Magpul mag style, had to do that for the 40 round mags, after that works great. The big thing is all the compatablity with G3 surplus and parts. Got a supressor (polonium full) and was lucky enough to already have the 65 degree locking piece which made it the most roller lock locking gun out there unsupressed, you feel the bolt carrier move every inch and was sluggish (still completely relyable). Supressed it goes much faster and was relieved that I never got gassed out inside my indoor range after doing bill drills or double taps, not as flat as just the comp, but supressed has other bonuses.

    I got one of these and I used a dremel to relieve the inside of the magazine well and now it will run every type of AK mag I have without issue. Suppressing it requires changing out the locking wedge for one with a different angle, and then it will run fine, as long as it stays suppressed. The HK roller locked system is rather inflexible like that. It shoots great, the long reciever results in very controllable recoil. I think it is a really cool gun since it is basically an STG45 from WW2. Post war mauser engineers took that gun, scaled up their design to 7.62 NATO and this became the G3/HK91/CETME rifle. Scaling it back down to 7.62x39 recreates the STG45, and that is kinda neat. The weight makes it hard to justify over an AK however, and the mag compatibility issue is a serious flaw (which can be fixed), but overall this gun is only for people who love the history or will put a full auto trigger pack on it.

    I definitely love the idea of this rifle but I can understand its drawbacks. Rob Ski said that rifle was one of the most accurate in the 7.62x39 he's shot. Keep the Armory episodes coming, Graham!! 🙏🙏

    Good video. Food for thought for you and all...one problem may be that if you own many many firearms, you find yourself looking for the ephermal "ultimate" rifle or for a niche firearm...word for wise, they don't exist. You just keep buying guns and safes.
    As much as I love HK sidearms, all the G3 clones do for me is a heartfelt MEH.
    The build quality on the PTRs that I've handled is exceptional but after you shoot them you say "conscript's rifle."
    I still remember the first PTR I shot...I thought the trigger was broken and then the owner said "it's not an AR, just keep pulling hard."
    Then the recoil impulse (granted these were .308) was so much more pronounced than in my AR 10s and .308 Galils.
    So. Heavier to carry than an AR10, less accurate than an AR10, less pleasant to shoot than an AR10, and way less cool than a Galil...as well as less accurate and less pleasant than a Galil.
    So. I'll just enjoy my Galils instead,
    Better luck next time

    I know the mag issue seems like an issue , but pmags are found everywhere and they are the most consistent , mag to mag . You can buy 15 of them and they will all work. I love my 32 . I don’t think it’s a platform that loves lots of mods but you can definitely set it up for modern use. I think the magpul grip module is the best mod you can make . That less raked grip angle makes a big difference .

      I own dozens of the most common mag ever produced - the AK 7.62x39 military magazine. I don't want to go buy crap quality magpul or tapco mags, just to shoot in one rifle. It should be the opposite - given the price this thing should take all AK mags, or at the very least, just surplus mags. Some dudes report that certain surplus mags work and some don't. This just makes the water even more murky... Why PTR, why??? Just tweak it until you get it - it would be a decent seller if it took all AK mags... (Edited for bad typos)

  • @justanothergunnerd8128
    @justanothergunnerd8128 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I don't mind quirks on this gun - it's a weird little beast but that makes it fun. The mag thing though... What a let down and a deal breaker for me. I am in the same boat - I don't want to go buy crap magpul or Tapco AK mags as I have a ton of surplus mags (standard, bake, drums, RPK, etc.). There are two main reason to own this - it's cool HK style roller delayed and it's in a common (formerly dirt cheap) caliber used in the most popular gun ever made - and therefore it should take the most popular magazine ever made - a standard 7.62x39 AK surplus mag... PTR could sell pallets of these every month if they took all standard AK mags... Some guys report some surplus work - some don't. It's could be so awesome - but it's not. Very disappointed in PTR not putting in the extra time for the mag issue. I would buy two of these immediately if they took all mags. (edited for confusing typo)

    Nice looking rifle. I have the C-308. After 60 rounds your shoulder will let you know time to stop. I was going to pick one up , but passed due to the asking price $1200.00 with AIM Surplus. Cleaning them is tedious at best especially the bolt. Nice to see it here. ♠️🎩🎯🎱🇺🇸🏁🇮🇱🇺🇦🔱🌻💮🌸🌼🏴‍☠️🏹

    Love the concept, hate the change in market prices of 7.62x39 (hoping PSA was going to save it with their own steel cased 7.62x39), and the weight is less than favorable (did they use 7.62x51 parts and overbuild the gun?). What type of accuracy do you get from it at 300 yds? 500 yds?

    • @gbgunsmedia
      @gbgunsmedia  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure on the parts as I'm not an expert on this platform. I never test accuracy at ranged beyond what the rifle is responsible for. 300-500 is beyond the cartridge's intended range to boot.

    • @raygixxer89
      @raygixxer89 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It is built on the PTR91 system. The bolt/carrier and magwell are modified for the x39.

    • @justanothergunnerd8128
      @justanothergunnerd8128 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      PSA promises the world and then delivers garbage most of the time - years after they promised the world. But yes - these are built to HK-91-ish specs with the longer receiver. They have a heavier than normal barrel for an HK like this. Accuracy is supposedly awesome according to Rob Ski (AK operator union) and others. It's a cool gun but the magazine thing turns me off - will never buy one for that reason.

    • @justanothergunnerd8128
      @justanothergunnerd8128 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They function ok at the range. But don't drop your gun with the mag inserted, the plastic lugs will snap like a weak twig. They are not long term durable, not steel reinforced in the lugs, body or feed lips. They might last a couple years, but surplus steel mags are basically the same price and last forever.

    Shame PTR has so aggressively raised their prices lately on their .308 models. I felt like the Niche of a PT91 was "Cold war battle rifle but way less expensive than an M14 or FAL" but now they went up a few hundred dollars in a year and are almost the same price.

      With very few exceptions, and very few at that. Nearly every manufactured product whether it be firearm or pickup truck, has gone up tremendously since 2020.
      Remember all those "free" gov't COVID financial incentives (which I received none of, btw), well we're paying for them now with interest rates and inflation. We're all paying now for that largess then.
      The only items that haven't seem to be from those manufacturers who have deep enough pockets to stockpile raw materials and inventory.
      Sorry, but if the price of milk, eggs, and diesel goes up 30%, something's gotta give. Want to keep employees? Have to pay them.
      Want someone to deliver goods to you or for you? Gotta pay 'em.
      PTR wasn't alone in this. Not by far
