    This is so true especially for younger or stronger guys, I usually hit people at my gym in the face because of that shoulder tension. It also gives me great cue's to follow for counters, I usually fight just watching for tension, I actually learned this from fencing!

    It didn't even occur to me to look for gender specific mistakes, but it makes a lot of sense - for guys especially with anything about using too much power.

    Guy mistakes:
    1. Loading a punch for power, but actually is slower. Stay tight and keep defense or hands touching your head
    2. Round kick without moving the hip, keep the hip and should matched, turn together
    3. Stiff shoulders/body causes faster fatigue. Stay loose til exploding or defending
    4. Always throwing for power, should throw about 1/3 light touch and mix in power shots
    5. Front kick for power and off balance when miss. Keep the head above anchor foot and control as ball of foot will hurt them, not just push them

    5:26 great points. I was taught you can have just as much power anyway if you focus on the speed of bringing the punch back quickly. Gabriel Varga is well schooled in boxing. Even though he’s a karate / kickboxing champion he could compete at a professional boxing level against even boxing champions. I’m extremely impressed at Gabriel Varga’s boxing knowledge and ring IQ.

    I was terrible about muscling through punches. Recently I've learned to drive my knuckles forward with my hip and think less with my biceps/delts

    • @yunusjackson3195
      @yunusjackson3195 ปีที่แล้ว

      too much muscleing is wrong.. but too high frequency of power punches (like he says) doesnt exist.. its just another more combat oriented fighting style.. but if you are muscling your power punches your mechanics are just wrong.. because the bodyweight you want to throw into your opponent doesnt get any heavier by tensing.. maybe it gets even lighter because you are holding some of it back because of the tension

    Somewhat unrelated, but do you read a lot? I have always admired how articulate you are and wonder what you attribute that to? We know it's partly due to staying in shape and eating healthy, but you state/explain things so clearly (and it's a joy to listen to you) that I wonder what else there is to your speech "regiment".

    Hi Gabriel, what do you think of Jack Dempsey's Step and Punch (lead jab) technique? He explained it in details in his book, he said that it is effective for street fight. Basically the energy came from the person moving forward with their jab as opposed to body rotation

    In your video “How to kick like Baukaw”, you told us to exaggerate the swing of our arm that’s on the same side as our kicking leg, in the opposite direction of the kick.
    How do we do this while keeping our shoulders going in the same direction as our kicks?

    Should I wait or is it nornal for the one two for example?

    Gabriel how do I brake out of my rhythm I tied listening to songs (I usually dont listen to music) to try to find new rhythms. And how do I avoid doing the same things? I see the same kind of ending on my combinations and even if I think for a while on braking out of it, I again start doing the same sequences of hits as before I tried adding weird punches and kicks just to have more diversity but it doesnt work.

  • @randymuaythai492

    Gabe do you mean ordinary men or men who train combat sports? Cus my experience from day one in boxing gym. Is always tug your jaw closer to your chest hand guarding eye brows level, the coach put tennis balls in my arm pits. And just do foot works for 1 months every day. No punching. And when we get almost perfect in stance and foot works. We do 1 punch. The jab and after we throw the jabs if my hand didn't get back to my eyebrows I'll get slap with pad right on my face. So none of us ever down our guard. I guess is true pain teaches you Not to do the same mistakes. That's Indonesian boxing coaches style. Hard pad on your face 🤣

    Do you think that Anissa Meksen hit harder than the guys in her weight class? Like, there's no exception for that? ( It's just a question I'm not some extreme feminist) and by weight class obviously It's guys who have the same weight

    • @GabrielVargaOfficial
      @GabrielVargaOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I haven't trained with her so it's very hard to say.
      She does look like she hits hard but I'd guess that her power wouldn't match up with the guys in ONE at her weight class.
      I'm only guessing from the experience I've had sparring with ladies who I was told "hit very hard" (they didn't compared to guys I'm used to fighting).
