    I’ve always preferred head movement and foot work more that just blocking punches, its worked well with most of my sparring partners who are often stronger than me. Love this technique and I LOVE THIS CHANNEL 🔥🔥

    Good stuff. One of the first moves I learned in boxing and most successful at implementing is what you explained first here, slipping while throwing straight shots to the body.
    Most of the people I've sparred with have been taller than me and it makes them think twice about trying to stay outside and jab me to death when I time their jab and hit them to the body. Simply slipping and hitting to the body makes them hesitant to throw because any time they do their midsection is open and a punch might come at it.
    That's an important point you made about moving the head just enough to do the job too. It allows a quick follow up because your balance is less disturbed by the movement.
    Slipping and hitting at the same time makes opponents walk into your shots and also helps load up power shots on the side you slip to.
    Slipping their jab and hitting them with your own jab to the jaw at the same time doubles the power and loads up a monster right hand which they will be open for because they will be stunned and open on their left side from throwing their jab and you'll already be in range.
    And if you are vs a southpaw then the first shot will probably be your right hand and if you land that solid to the jaw while slipping their jab then you can see the kind of result when Marquez ko'd Pacquiao.
    It's good to practice pivoting out too. It's especially useful vs southpaws after throwing your right since you can wheel away from their power side and even throw a left hook in the process.

    In that same vein, I wonder whether you could do a video with your take on defensive strategies and techniques when fighting without boxing gloves - for instance, with 4 oz MMA gloves, or in the increasingly popular sport of bareknuckle boxing.

    Hello Gabriel, would you say headmovement is less common in Muay Thai? My school tells me to not do too much headmovement and to use my foot work, parry shots , or long guard

      The best use headmovment in muay Thai But u can get kicked in the face with a knee if u Bob and weave but people like mmashreded lerzila use it in a useful way so u should sometimes

      Yes. It's definitely utilized much less. However this slip, if executed properly, is pretty hard to go wrong with.

    What's the difference between this movement and what got Kamaru KO'd by Leon Edwards (head kick)?

    Drill 1:
    Step forward with normal stance, throw jab with head off center line, the cross, lead hook, and cross. Repeat x10
    Drill 2:
    Step backward and stance same while throwing jab and head moves off center line, followed by cross. Repeat x10
    Drill 3:
    Step forward with wide stance and throw jab with head off center; hen cross and step back. Then step forward in normal stance (both feet) throw cross, lead uppercut, and finish with cross. Repeat
    Drill so you throw and defend without thinking, and keep chin protected

    If possible, would you please expand on the element of avoiding the head kick as you execute the forward movement? In your experience how do you sense the opponents intent to throw the head kick? I know that every time I dip my head kicks, knees and uppercuts cross my mind which I feel causes hesitation.

      This! I often get head kicked when I try out head movement.
      I'd love an answer from Gabriel. Meanwhile, my guess: When I move my head without moving forward, I run into a lot of headkicks. When I push forward, the opponent has no room for head kicks, but maybe uppercuts and knees. Pushing forward AND moving my head, head kicks may get throttled and knees or uppercuts may get evaded.
      That's my guess, will be testing out next month. Gabriel please explain!

    Very helpful! I'm still beginner but I've noticed that against open stance(I'm southpaw) moving your head during cross is very effective. I'm still trying to figure out the jab though 😓

      Try pivoting, and counters on back foot, works for me usually. I'm a southpaw who's kinda short, we need to look for each other 😄

    This is exactly what I noticed in alot of kickboxing/ muay thai classes.Most coaches teach to be pressure fighters, moving forward, the focus on being dynamic is alot more than avoiding hits. Thank you Gabriel!

    Also watch out for hooks, but if you keep your guard hand up you should be fine.

      Yes. Very good point. Mistakes leave you vulnerable to hooks as well.

    5:36 how do I let my feet stay in the same distance while punching forward? Isn't the one step going to make a change in distance? do I move my front leg and back leg than I Jab? or Just one little front leg step with a jab? Need answer please anyone

      The way I do it and it seems to work for me is I kinda slide my back foot as I'm stepping forward with my jab. So I'm pushing with my back foot as I step with my front 1 and jab at the same time.

      You can also try stepping twice. Once with your front foot and once with your back 1. Step as your punching with same side hand. So in an orthodox stance, jab and step with your left foot while pushing off with your back 1. Then step with your right as your throwing that side punch. Foot should land as you're making contact with target.
