- I go over how to wire up 2 AA batteries and set them up to ignite the glow plug in your nitro engine if your ez- start system has failed and you don't have a glow plug igniter or if your glow plug igniter has failed. I hope this helps people get their nitros started and having fun.

AlexFPV You can also use a AA or AAA battery and take the wrapper off and shove it in til I the positive terminal contacts the glow plug.

You have re-invented what every 14 year old boy knew in 1947. You are actually supplying a 3 volt battery that is unable to deliver the required current but due to Ohms Law (oversimplification) drops the voltage into the voltage range of the glow plug. For a simpler glow plug igniter even than your 'World's Simplest' glow plug igniter, try a single fresh D cell in place of the two AA in series. Try a voltmeter on the 2 AA cells when you are glowing. You may even be surprised to discover that a bunch of weak used AA in parallel will also glow a plug.
It takes just 1 battery .. your 1 battery probably was weak.
If using 2, wire them parallel .. for more mah (lasts longer
Run 4 x AA batteries in parell keeps the voltage at 1.5 and combines the amps works a traet

Garrett Feury a single AAA NIMH battery with the wrapping taken off is actually easier. I've got a quick video on how to do that one as well.
3 or 4 years now and have never had any problems with my starter wand and I have the exact same one. It just supplies the power just the same as manually connecting the AA battery does. If it's not starting when cranking you need to check connections. The wand either supplies the power or not. May even check your battery I'm your wand. If you charge it and store it when not in use properly you like aren't going to have any problem with the wand. I don't see why so many people say they have trouble getting the engine started with these. I'm thinking they don't actually understand how it works or they have something out of whack somewhere along the line. If having problems they just need to pull the plug and leave the lead hooked up while grounding the plug then hit the button. If it glows nice and bright then they have a different issue. If not check the wand with a meter. If it shows that it's putting out any power then look at your fuel. Pretty basic even for a newbie.
TheEZ start wands are very common for this and it’s due to a fault inside of the wand, I’ve had several be dead on arrival out of the box. I’ve been in the hobby 20 plus years and I couldn’t count the amount of people that is new to the hobby come to me asking for help with their Traxxas nitro not starting and 90% of the time it is a faulty wand. I always recommend they ditch the wand and just pick up a regular Igniter and they will have far less headaches.

But yeah... science. Watts and amps and stuff. Parallel 2 sets of 2 AA batteries. So 4 batteries paralleled with 2 cells made from AA batteries. Works great.
I no longer wear the butt pirate loops lol

Dammit!..... Thanks dude lol i just blew my glow plug! Actually dont connect batt end to end. connect - to - and + to + not - to +. YOU ONLY WANT 1.2V TO 1.5V. ! If you connect + to - then it will be to much voltage 1.5 + 1.5 = 3v to much bro.

Paul Pateras I know. but many dont know this. mine work fine. I did this for about 12 guys on facebook that had the glow plug side of the wand completely crap out. the plug was good but something was wrong with the wand. if you look at my other videos I even show how to diagnose the ez start system. I know what I'm doing.
