Almost a year ago on his podcast, I remember when Kraig was talking about going into the 'hiking film genre' on TH-cam because it wasn't too popular. Fast forward to now, and he's dominating the entire genre all the while evolving it into something more. I am really looking forward to more of these. Best of luck on your future hikes!
Former National Park Ranger here. What a fantastic video you have made. So glad more folks are hiking Rim to Rim at GRCA and posting their videos here. Those Epic bars look scrumptious! Need some for my next hike!
I'm glad you brought the recap back at the end of the videos, but I'm glad you changed the style of it. This video felt more in tune with your goofy fun loving style of vlogging while still keeping the professional clean aspects I subscibed for. This video felt like a perfect combination of your newer videos with your older vlogs. I loved it! Keep up the good work
I've done this on the Bright Angel trail..Can't wait to go back. It's a place you could stay for years I feel and still have so much to see. Definitely a wonder of this planet. Thank you for sharing!
Long day hiking, sweat dripping, need water........ ahhh salty, high sodium Ramen noodle for dinner. That was a great video! All of your videos are great! Thank you!
My gosh Kraig these are absolutely stunning videos you create. I haven’t been hiking at all this year ☹️ I watch while I’m having coffee, doing my morning stretches and to calm my nerves sometimes. Very grateful for your work and sharing these hikes. 👍🏽
Thanks, Kraig - I have toured both the South & North rims of the Grand Canyon, but because I was with non-hikers I did not do any of the trails; thank you for the great footage of your hike.
Congratulations, Mr. Adams, upon making this epic trip. A job well done! My son, Patrick, completed a similar rim to rim trip several years ago. He made the hike in early May to avoid the summer heat. He is an amateur photographer. He took dried fruit, a water bladder, salted nuts, crackers. We are from San Diego, Ca. He prepared every day for several months by climbing a local mountain/hill here named Cowles Mountain. My wife and I dropped him off at 2 AM at the South Kaibab trailhead. He stayed at Phantom Ranch to rest for a couple of hours. Then he continued on until reaching the North Rim at the North Kaibab trailhead at around 5:30 PM. Although, it was not recommended, he felt he had prepared enough to make the trip in one day. He made it in a little over 15 hours. His mom and I were so proud of him...and still are! I told him then that later in his life he can look back with a smile at what he accomplished
Nice!! Did it in 2008.. but from North to South... Brought back some great memories..... Thanks for sharing and posting such great content... Very relaxing to watch and makes me want to get back...
Great video. I really like your chill, no talking video style and I prefer the info at the end on the details. Hiking is my favorite activity (currently doing the Arizona Trail) and your videos are beautiful and inspiring.
I lived at the Canyon for three years all together.I did that hike lots of time. Thank for jump starting great memories. Cool video yo. Thanks and keep up the good living
Nice little film you've made. Great that there is no narration, the story is told in images. I was a backpacking guide in GC for years, did many rim to rim trips, Ribbon Falls is a beautiful spot, which once saved the lives of some heat-stroke sick hiking companions with it's water!
Hey Kraig! I just hiked the grand canyon, Bright Angel trail to the Colorado River and back in one day. It was one of the most difficult things I've done but also best thing ever as well. I just want to say your videos inspired me to go out and challenge myself. So thank you!
Your videos are beautiful I'm so inspired. Told my husband that we are planning a back packing trip some where just dont know where yet. I cant wait!!!
Back in college, Tanner Canyon connecting into the Beamer and Escalante was always my favorite trail in the Grand Canyon to hike -- puts in over near Lipan Lookout, and I've spent full weeks in the inner gorge only seeing rafters come by; no other hikers. No water rim to river; but glorious experiences all along the trail.
Exquisite photography. At age 71 and busted up from an active life, I can not hike where you do. So I vicariously enjoy your trips. My favorite so far was the Spanish Pico trip. Recently visited Chile's Atacama desert. We had several guided trips to explore this phenomenal place. Hope you get a chance to visit Chile. More please.
Just finished this hike on Halloween 🎃. I uploaded my video a couple days ago. Thanks for being one of my sources for this hike. I had fun. I slept like a baby at cottonwood.
Thank you kraig for inspiring me, im a big fan of yours from India. You are someone who first time inspired me, also the first time I'm writing to someone on youtube in the comment section.
Really interesting video Kraig. Your shooting gives the viewer an 'authentic' feel for the Grand Canyon: the whistling of the wind; the 'crunch' of the dust underfoot; the incessant rhythm of footsteps... And then the awesome visuals which give a sense of scale; what are we in the face of such immensity and grandeur? This is the impression your video gave me and, although I've never been myself, the one which many people I think take from visiting the Grand Canyon. Thanks
Man, i dont know you, but i think your videos are one of the best videos on youtube for quality of photo, imagine and relaxing. Thanks a lot for your passion. (also mine, sometimes)
Crossed the Canyon in the mid-70's, in one day, on a bet that I could get across the canyon with four friends faster than the other half of our group could get around the canyon. We won, but were instantly findable next morning: when we stretched, our legs cramped, and we yelled. Glad to see that they have improved the trail.
Should have had the steak. After the hike down, the steak dinner was what we needed. We were there for 2 nights in June in the cabins. Down the South Kaibab and up the Bright Angel. What a peaceful and magical place. Thank you for sharing and bringing back all the memories.
Really been enjoying these hiking trips. A year or 2 ago I don't think I could have guessed you'd be making hiking films, but I'm super glad I've been along to watch the journey. :)
I have 5 different backpacking / hiking trips into the Canyon and I think the music choice for this video fits the experience perfectly. The Canyon is a special place to hike....and hiking it solo is an amazing experience. Try it at night some time!
Man, just the amount of time it takes to hike...but then the amount of time it takes to set up a shot, walk or hike thru it...then go BACK to get the camera, then have to hike again, then have to set up another shot... Man !!! Got a lot of respect for you. Patience. Dedication + passion >
consider this, you walked through the most beautiful and compelling example of a lichtenbergian figure on the face of the earth.. Kraig, these video's are just amazing, it's been a while since my last hike, which i did with way to much stuff as i was hitchhiking in europe, i even had a skate with me sometimes.. the french pyrenees , especially the ariège region is my favorite and a bit more towards the mediterranean you can relax in beautiful hot springs after a day's hike.. so thanks, i will go out there, lightweight style like you inspire us to do.. :)
I did with a friend down to the river twice this winter once down bright Angel Trail, then down south Kaibab which was much easier we are both in our 70 it’s very beautiful
Nice saturday morning treat to watch such a peaceful video, I find these super relaxing and they make me want to head off into the mountains with my camera! Another route I'd suggest if you're coming back to Europe is the GR20 on Corsica, it's often called the "toughest trail in Europe", if you are heading back to Spain, hit me up for a room in Barcelona!
I did the North Rim Kaibob trail in just recnetly at the end of August. It was hot and steep and I loved every bit of it. I plan on coming back to do the full rim to rim.
I did the rim to rim to rim hike with a buddy 3 years ago this December. We stayed in the yurt on the north rim. Highly recommend doing that hike. It's amazing. Total distance is about 55 miles.
Please do not stop making videos, Kraig. Your content is therapeutic and is having a little positive effect on lots of people's lives. Thank you for your hard work and I hope your channel continues to grow because you deserve it!
I had to check the date, but I missed you by a few days - I was on the North Rim on the 27th and 28th of October. You also missed the snow! I'd advise everyone to visit the North Rim late in the season - the chill weather makes it the best time to enjoy the scenery and get moving, even if you have to deal with the constant wind.
This is the right way to do it. I did this as a rim-to-rim (North K to South K) trail run sometime around 2003. Unfortunate. Didn't take the time to enjoy the scenery and my legs hurt like hell the next day.
Trouble with TV is that you can't get a sense of the discomfort from heat or cold. Like that show Bad Monkey why is no one sweating? Because they filmed it in winter. In Florida. Likewise, get thee to the G.C IN WINTER! Nights are cold (except down by the river) but daytime hikes are comfortable.
Man, I did this, it was great. Can't remember which trail (was 25 years ago), but I went from South to North and back again. Down in the valley, it was sunny and warm enough to shower naked under some waterfall (it was late in the year, October/November or the like, and almost no other hikers around (at least I didn't see any - I mean down there in the valley itself; there was quite a lot who hiked down the South Rim and back up again), and then hiking up the North Rim and there was snow. Then going back down again, and it was again like mild summer. Awesome. And breathtaking scenery.
I've been loving all your explorations and ways of incorporating your artistic vision as well as subtly adding in sponsorships. If you're at all worried about the sponsorship feeling weird or out of place with your artistic vision, I don't think so. I love seeing that other companies enjoy and support your work. As for the format--- this one by far is my favourite. I love the cinematic and the explorations of your journey, and I also enjoy hearing your behind-the-scene thoughts, Q&As, and how you came about to this video.
its the best feeling in the world when you have some time to just seat quietly and listen to the sounds of the nature and you some how you manage to transfer that feeling to me . thank you for that

EPIC bars.... What an EPIC trip Kraig....Thank You for the video. I have been there with my family 2 years ago. I can not have enough of this natural wonder.
Very nice cinematography. I just recently came across your channel after watching your Spain video which is great! You happened to show my Thumbnail as part of your research for this GC hike. Thanks for that! Grand Canyon is no joke. One of our natural wonders and well worth the effort!
Your videos are amazing. Beside the content which is refreshing with no voice just quiet and nature, what I also highly enjoy is at the end when you cover “how to do this hike”. Keep doing this and thank you!
I will never forget the year I was using the Greyhound Ameripass ticket to travel from New York to Los Angeles, also alone. And the Grand Canyon Village was to be one of my stops to spend the day there. So I arrived at Flagstaff Greyhound terminal at 4.00 am. After waiting for four hours, around 8.00 am I boarded another bus to Grand Canyon Village. Once there, I discovered the trailhead of Bright Angel Trail at the village (next to Kolb Studio). When I saw other hikers entering and exiting the trail, I went to nearby Bright Angel Lodge and found out about Phantom Ranch, right at the bottom, and I was offered a bed down there due to a cancellation made within the last hour. So I had to hire a rucksack and a pair of hiking boots, and I bought some food and started hiking down the trail. I arrived at nightfall to claim my bed for the night. Next morning, starting at daybreak, I made my way back to the rim, using the same trail, as back then I knew nothing about the South Kaibab Trail. Duration of descent: 4.5 hours. Duration of ascent 9 hours. Distance covered 19.2 miles Month/year of the hike: August 1978.
I've kind of been upset recently for many reasons and I've been going back through your hiking vlogs and they bring me a lot of comfort. Sending love 💗
I live in Arizona and even wrote a guide for the North and South Rim and you captured the GC perfectly. Composition, Edit, Music Selection, perfect. Thank you.
Kraig, you have "MAD" videography and editing skills. You have professional sensibilities and abilities. You really should do some type of hookup with Nat Geo or Discovery Channel or one of the new streaming services to sponsor you and take you to the next level. You are that accomplished. I spent over 40 years in network TV business in Hollyweird and I know what is good. Your work is just EXCELLENT.
so glad you did this. I am 67 now and unable. I was there when in my 20s and didn't have time then again a 2 times within a 5 year period but by then was crippled with auto immune disease RPF of the arteries Thanks. very good
Kraig, your video's are BIC (Best in Class). I almost feel like I'm there with you. LOVE the music and peacefulness that comes with your ethos. I do like the few minutes at the end where you summarize and share your trip logistics and thoughts.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but you have to check out John Zahorian, if you don't already know him. He's in tthe top as well.
Can't stop imagining him stopping and coming back for his camera 😄 Awesome video.
Koperlos same thoughts! Hahaha
He doesn't go back to go to the camera, the camera goes to him.
😁
hahaha same here!
yeah me too, wouldn't it be easier sometimes to set drone to follow mode? :P
@@Indygoflow1 Yeah, maybe in future we'll have autonomous drones with AI that'll make videos for us. But the question is if it is worth it.

Every frame is pure peace and joy. Thank you for bring peace and joy into my day.
I WAS THERE in 2013...... RIM-to-RIM.... an experience I will NEVER forget!!!
so glad you did this. I am 67 now and unable. I was there when in my 20s and didn't have time
then again a 2 times within a 5 year period but by then was crippled with auto immune disease
RPF of the arteries Thanks. very good
Thousands of miles away in southern Africa, How I miss visiting the Grand Canyon. Thanks for sharing
The guy with the pumpkin. Wholesome. I love it lol
I enjoy imagining the process for filming something like this. How much extra work and energy these videos must take! Great work.
What a great treat, your hikes are so enjoyable.
Hi Kerry, stop by my channel for more hiking videos. (Not up to Kraig's epicness, but trying). 😁
I did a similar hike with my dad this May! We descended from South Kaibab and returned up with the Bright Angel Trail. 10/10 awesome hike
I love how we can truly appreciate the sounds of your experience on trail with the subtle music. Thanks for creating and sharing!
Kraig, your video's are BIC (Best in Class). I almost feel like I'm there with you. LOVE the music and peacefulness that comes with your ethos. I do like the few minutes at the end where you summarize and share your trip logistics and thoughts.
