I remember when this channel had about 10K subscribers. Some of us put in comments saying that it was going to get much, much bigger. 217K now and growing. High quality work IS rewarded. Keep it up 😁
Nature is magnificent, but watching it through Harmen's camera magnifies it even more. It's always a delight to watch his videos, and this one is no exception. Thank you Harmen.
Another absolute cinematic masterpiece, the camera angles, the composition of the shots, the music, the colour grading and everything in between is absolutely perfect, thank you for another incredible video.
I love how much these videos focus on the landscapes and making you feel like you're there. The thing that irks me about most nature documentaries is that they'll say it's about the Grand canyon, and then show scenery for about 10 minutes (of an hour long episode), then pan to like a squirrel family or something for the rest of it. Not this guy. He really gets it!
This is a beautiful example of the fact that you don't need words to tell a story. Well done, sir. Your style from the composition of your shots to your editing is superb. I'm excited to see what you create next.
I've never been to America, and the sheer variety in the biomes there is stunning. Some atavistic part of me is soothed seeing the raw magnitude of these places, of the reminder that the world is _much_ bigger than the age of fast travel and constant connectivity tricks us into thinking. We're microbes on the skin of the world, and we've forgotten how much we belong under a clean sky. All this to say, this was just plain lovely filming. 💚
Harmen, your channel is church to me, and the Grand Canyon is the cathedral. The ever changing light on the panoramas, the close ups of flora and fauna (even the little beetle!), the music you choose, the comforting simplicity of your daily practices on the trail, it’s all like a sacrament for the beauty of our natural world. Thank you! It’s not enough to cover how this makes me feel, but Thank you! (I clapped like a school girl when you mailed post cards delivered by mule…last place in the US that does that. I have postcards from 45 years ago from Phantom Ranch!)
Thank you for your kind words! Glad you enjoyed it, and I love those cards too. I have 2 'Mailed by Mule' stamps in my passport from 2017 and now from 2023. (;
Job 38:4-6 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone. Good bible text at the end 👏🙏
I spent 5 days trekking the GC before I got ill. SO glad to see you doing part of this one with a friend - its such an unforgiving place at any time of year. Another jaw-droppingly excellent video. I am stunned at the quality of your work. THANK YOU!
My dear brother Harmen, as a strict follower of yours, I think you are a very, very good man, even though I never hear your voice. as nature lover and a walker, I watch all your videos with pleasure, I am grateful to you for these beautiful shares. You take me to the ends of the world while watching you. In my country, in the city of Rize in Turkey, there are countless routes in the Kaçkar Mountains that you should see. Since the Kaçkar Mountains are a remnant of the ice age, there are great routes without people at approximately 3000-4000 meters. I strongly recommend that you plan a very nice route of 100-150 miles in length where you will take quality shots. Even though I have never heard your voice, I wanted to do you a favor by recommending this route because I thought you were a very good man.
Yes, the Kaçkar Mountains are a beautiful area! I passed through the region many years ago on bicycle. The scenery is similar to Georgia except, like you said, there are very few people. It would be a wonderful place to trek!
Dear beloved brother Harmen! This year mark my 21 year living in Arizona!🏜️ I’m a big fan of your and since your first hiking video, I did offer that if you are ever make it to Arizona please let me know because I have room for you to stay however long you like! But I guess that you are a very busy person! As always, you captured shots that no other can! You work really hard by waking up very early so that you can get the most out of the morning lights and to avoid crowds! I appreciate how you included Cactuses 🌵 in this film and that is very special because they are a significant part of Arizona!🏜️🌵 I feel very honored watching your films Harmen! Your works will bring Joy and Happiness to many people around the World 🌎 for generations! I am deeply grateful for your loving kindness and compassion Harmen!🙏
Brilliant film! I loved the intro and also the end. Music was special in this video esp towards the end. It captures how majestic The Grand canyon is! Thank you again Harmen for this film. Enjoyed it! Looking forward to the next video already coz every film you make just gets better and better. 😍
You missed the waterfall at Phantom Ranch did you do that on purpose because many believe that to be the best spot of the whole Canyon? Or do you need a personal invite? It is on Indian Land you know 🤷♀️
I think one of the most impressive thing in Harmens video’s is the will to walk long distances just to set up the tripod and camera, then walk back and into the scene. Have not seen anybody do this to this extremes. Impressive!!
WOW, Harmen. Have never seen the Grand Canyon presented in such a magical otherworldly context. The gorgeous lighting & colors were really enhanced. Loved the moon shots & your parting shot. You definitely have the special gift. GREAT JOB ❤🙋🏼♀️🇺🇸👍🏻
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this one too, it sure was one of my favorite treks from last year. I love the desert, the colors and the lighting. It's such a unique place.
I had the privilege of visiting in 2022, but only had time for a day hike. There is no other place like the Grand Canyon, absolutely stunning. Thank you for taking us on an adventure with you!
I've loved every one of your videos, but this canyon video speaks deeply to my love of the desert. I've hiked the Fish River Canyon in Namibia twice, and hope to do it again soon. It is rated as the world's second largest canyon, after the Grand Canyon. Please consider hiking the Fish River Canyon some time, it is an amazing experience, and your style of silent hiking is so well suited to the desolation of the Namibian Desert. Bravo to your amazing work!
Fond memories of my visit to the Grand Canyon last October, but just to the South Rim. This amazing video shows that there's so much more to this incredible landscape.
Anyone who has experienced trekking in the wild and has had the chance to contemplate intense pieces of landscapes knows how inspiring and soothing it is. it's a life changing experience. Those unique feelings are wonderfully conveyed in your videos. I just want to pack my back and go!
Amazing!!! I see it is a challenging hike, so it was nice/surprising to see you with company. Thanks for the message at the end. Greetings from South America
Incredible. The most beautiful images of the Grand Canyon I've ever seen. Last thought, though, was a worry about your second hiking pole having rolled off into the canyon in that last shot 😆. Thank you for sharing, as always.
What a treat! Thank you! The cinematography and the sound are just unparralleled for any hiking videos/films out there! I"m so glad I was among your first subscribers! I sometimes go back and rewatch your films, that's how good they are ❤
Another adventure in the book of life my friend 🤜🏻One of the most adventurous treks through the wildest and remote places on earth. I need to go back and complete the section I missed now! Fantastic film my friend - until the next adventure 🤙🏻
Hey Harmen... I just want to say to you l, Baie Dankie, thank you very much, Danke wel, for this incredible content. ❤ I've been binge watching your videos. Such superior quality, not only that, you inspire me to get out there and hit the trails and be in better shape... I'm amazed that you are so fearless! Btw, all the pictures in the end and the music is all so very relaxing , then the verses, are so beautiful too. I didn't notice it at first, but as I continued watching, I noticed it and I realized why you are so fearless. I just did a hike today and came home and watched your soothing videos to unwind haha... May you continue to be and feel blessed on every single journey you take in His magnificent creation!! I pray Devine protection over you!! On behalf of everyone watching you, we appreciate you! Keep up the extraordinary work 💪🏻👍🏻
i love these films! in this one, i found his hiking with another person to be a distraction. so i was very happy that halfway through it he went his separate way. of course its nice to hike with someone sometimes. but the impact the of the film is way more profound when he is alone.
Loved your story. At first, i couldn't make out your route down, it was quicker than any route down I've made ! The photography was awesome, but the five days were very condensed considering the route you took. It is such an amazing, awe-inspiring place to explore. I've hiked it five times, both North Rim and South Rims, and routes along the Tonto. Oldtimer Englishman reliving past adventures thru your stories. Keep em coming please.
Really love this concept! Silence and self-concentration is what I am looking for in mountains. And that is also the biggest benefit of your videos. Less is more and still so beautiful!
Looking forward to this as well. I would love to watch a hiking video of Sedona, AZ. You may have already thought of it, but it’s also another gorgeous, scenic, spiritual place. Just a thought! Happy travels!
Another beautiful movie of trails less traveled! Thank you for always finding these peaceful and untouched lands to broaden my vision. It’s visual feasts in watching them. The mule troop passing was cute! You may want to wear trail gaiters to avoid sands getting into your socks and shoes. Congratulations! job well done again!

Fantastic video, Harmen! I was doing nearly the same route as you at almost the same time - probably only a day or 2 before or after you. We did Tanner to Escalante to Bright Angel Nov 8 - 13, 2023. You captured the beauty and grandeur of the canyon so well, and it really brought me right back! I sat watching in absolute awe! Happy trails!
Beautiful movie Harmen, we really like your cinematic way of documenting your hikes and we fill many Friday evenings with it. Your reference to Job 38 was spot on! Keep on shooting.
I already watched many videos about hiking the Grand Canyon but this one is King. You really know how to present nature uniquely. Outstanding work! I will watch the first half on Scott's channel now. Great work guys
Love you man, a big fan of your cinematography. One suggestion is that it will be better if all static video shorts have some motion, like zoom in or out, left to right or right to left. You are showing nature in big frame instead of your face. In Pakistan 🇵🇰 here we have nature vloggers who present the nature only in blurred background of their face. WOW… another beautiful video Harmen, well done 👏 you really know how to capture the essence of a place. There are some stunning visuals in here to enjoy as with all your videos. It’s a treat to follow your adventures. Keep it up! Thank you
Great Job Buddy! I'm so glad you decided to take this trip. I'd like to think it was from my suggestion. . . Let me know when you're ready for another Adventure to the Great American West. I do believe we can do even better than this. . . but it will be tough. . .
Lovely work, brother. I've been following you since you'd least number of subscribers. I'm really glad to find you that early. You inspires me as well as my fellow companions to travel, to not to give up , to no to abandon our dreams. Thanks for doing that. Love from India.🇮🇳
your channel was just suggested to me and I immediately watched an older video of yours. It is unbelievable what you do, your videos incredibly beautiful. Great shots, great editing, great music. Thank you for your work, you very talented guy. I have a lot to watch now 🤩
Thank you for taking us on your magical journeys again and again! You films are inspiring and motivating, it shows how beautiful nature can be without having to describe it with words, the pictures speak for themselves. Keep up the good work.
I watch your videos about 10 times, and it's true, since I do it before going to bed and after 4-5 minutes. I fall asleep, and here I watch 8-10 times to the end))
My favorite shot too! I still remember framing that one. I had to walk 10 minutes to get that shot, but I knew right away it was worth it. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful hike as usual. Harman I have a suggestion for a future hike. The Kalalau Trail is an 11-mile stretch of coastline that provides the only land access to the Napali Coast on the island of Kauai. The trail is considered one of the most challenging and rewarding hikes in the world, offering breathtaking views of the coastline, valleys, and waterfalls. The trailhead is located at the Hāʻena State Park, and hikers must obtain an advanced reservation for entry, except for those with valid camping permits for the Napali Coast State Wilderness Park and Hawaii residents.
The guy does it like no other. Incredible work. I'm a super fan
Thanks (:

I watch your videos about 10 times, and it's true, since I do it before going to bed and after 4-5 minutes. I fall asleep, and here I watch 8-10 times to the end))
Really good as always Harmen, thank you! A great depiction of the GC and the U.S. desert southwest in general😊😊
Great ending to a great video! Thank you!
Amazing! When im stuck inside programming, this just inspires me and get me excited for my own next hiking adventure
Go for it!
Wow, incredible scenery. The shot at 1:30 - 1:45 mins was just awe inspiring, have kept going over and over that bit - the scale!!
Always beautiful work! Would love more, more, more! Hour long or more is perfect. Thank you for sharing your passion.
Glad you liked it, and thanks for the compliment!
Beautiful film as always, thanks for the upload. A treat!
