Even all of them were active in their solos, nothing can be better than that when they're together. I want to see them performing as group again. I couldn't find any new group like them that satisfies my ear.
It is a right of passage for all Mamamoo listeners to watch this performance. Can’t even tell you how shocking their performances were in real time.
Also, the “aerobics” is actually the choreo reference to the original song performance choreo. It is why the crowd loses it when they do it.
For real I remember when I became a moomoo! This is one of the first things I listened to and was blown away !
The girls always said, Wheein is the backbone of the group. She can do everything: one of the best dancer (if you watch her dance covers you'll see), she can rap (just watch King of Mask Singer performance), and she has a wide range, probably wider than Solar and Hwasa, but she rarely does it.
Immortal Songs 2 was a TV show where they became famous, because they won it 3 times against Legendary Korean singers covering old Korean songs, that's why the old-school choreo too, it's the original.

To be fair, I'm not too concerned with them not loving her as much since she becomes everyone's bias wrecker in the end, but it's kinda funny how people (including me) underestimates the girl at first, then BAM! You realize she's a monstrous ball of talent and you can't ever unsee it. It took ME months to realize what a low-key genius she is, and I don't use that word lightly lol.

But I think most people are drawn in by Solar's charisma, Hwasa's sexiness, Moonbyul's coolness, so Wheein gets lost in the mix initially even though she's got the best balance of all that. And she's got resting bitch face lol, so people don't even know how hilarious she is. But I think that's part of her charm - she's hard to read, so it's fun to see reactors getting to peel back her layers slowly. Saying this as a Wheein stan myself.
lol the "aerobics" dance is the original choreo, so Mamamoo were referencing that. But yeah, it's kinda funny since it's an outdated dance from the 80's.
As for Wheein, it's fair to say she doesn't stand out much. I think that was the case for most fans like me since she doesn't really have that one strong "gimmick," whereas the other girls come with major bells and whistles - Moonbyul with the cool raps, Solar with the powerful belts, Hwasa with her sexy raspy voice. They also project dominant energy, whereas Wheein is much more of a subtle soul.
That said, Wheein is often considered to be the "backbone" of Mamamoo since she's simultaneously the best dancer AND best technical singer in the group. Even the CEO said he formed Mamamoo with Wheein in mind since she doesn't really have any weaknesses at all. It takes a while to really "get" the girl since she's so reserved, but she's got amazing solo music, her dance covers are fire, and she's also the by far the funniest member imo. Try checking out her stuff - you guys'll slowly come around to her I think.

Wheein knows how to have great stage presence, but she doesn't like selling out or having to smile or flirt with the camera when she doesn't feel like it. It's probably what makes her the most authentic in the group, but it's also cost her widespread popularity. Not that it matters...she's the most talented one and like you said, the funniest. MY GOD SHE'S SUCH A CRACK HEAD BACKSTAGE.

It is pretty normal for people to overlook Wheein... the other girls are exceptional...but slowly Wheein creeps up on you :). The girls rate Wheein as their most flexible, technical and important singer as she links the other three girls effortlessly, sitting low with Moonbyli - sultry with Hwasa and high with Solar... Live Whee draws your eyes because of her clean dance lines and stage presence...Ain't for nothing they call her the Ace :)

That's fine if she's not "interesting" in that she instantly draws the eye/ear, I love that she's a hidden gem that you can only see when you really watch/listen to mamamoo closely. It's one of my favorite things about her. I feel like people who notice wheein have a deeper technical knowledge of music bc of how deeply imbued her technique is.

Mamamoo made their own choreography until 2019 and so yes it's toned down in order for them to sing. 😂 The best part of Mamamoo's choreo is that it makes covering their songs almost impossible. Very few idols have even a fraction of Mamamoo's stage presence and so dancing demurely while trying to sound good so Moo Moos don't destroy you on SNS just isn't possible. Mamamoo doesn't really have a concept other being grown ass women and embracing their own unique brand of cringe openly. Literally no one is doing it like them. 😭🤣
btw moonbyul is touring in the us in november and december this year, if you guys wanna enjoy her voice and her raps 💗
Biggest regret you will ever have is to not say ef it and watch everything in their discography. Go full Moomoo. It will be the best discovery musically you will ever do.
Moonbyul’s raps are special. There’re not that many people who can bring so much emotions and story telling into rap like her. Honestly I can’t think of any other Rappers who can fit their rap into songs with those kind if overwhelming vocals, and actually make the rap become a highlight?

All 4 are very versatile and strong in all aspects! The only reason they're not the 'world-wide sensation' is because they don't have the marketing and millions from their company backing them up
The only reason Wheein is seen as the one that stands out the least by the general public is because the average person doesn't understand vocals/voices.
Vocally, Wheein has the best and the most flexible voice of them all. She also has the range.
The industry has made the people believe that loud belting = best voice, while in the reality, belting is probably the easiest thing to do for most singers.

Crazy thing they actually sound the same while dancing. They trained to sing while moving. There is a clip where Wheein is running and practicing singing. Unlike the typically pop groups that claim they go through "training," MMM actually did do traing the right way, vocally.

This was for their 2017 concert, named ‘Mamamoo Concert Moosical: Curtain Call’ they picked their version of the songs they sang during the show "IMMORTAL SONGS", performing an Eleven-Minute long medley in the middle of a 3-4 Hour long concert.
FYI Solar was upset with her last Belt, because she had to stop moving to complete it.... Crazy Woman, you have to love her.

Yeah, Wheein is really good but often in a supportive role. Like she needs the spotlight less just wants to improve the overall performance to the maximum.
Belting but not as powerfully noticeable as Solar and awesome in soft balladlike parts and bridges but here Hwasa stands out more with her husky style. (And moonbyul does her own thing like a boss).

Yeah, Solar had a tendency to overdo belts a bit, like 99% of Got Talent candidates impressing an audience of vocal noobs. Technically perfect isn't always better and a little flaw does add flavor and the impression you are giving it your all. But a few vocal coaches noticed Wheein's technique as really good and healthy.
I'm sure they are all continuously learning and improving so hard to compare them over the years.

I meant she had that tendency in the first few years or so. She just loved giving it more power. That isn't the most healthy thing for your voice, even if it does sound more impressive than being technical. Quickly after, she became both powerful and technically good.
The got talent reference is more a criticism of what kind of songs people like to show off with, and how easy it is to impress noob audiences with belting. While the more difficult technical control and harmonies and other stuff that impresses vocal coaches are often unnoticed. I was ashamed that I myself hardly noticed Wheein at all at first, so that's why I remembered.
One of my favorite K Pop Ballads is a song called "Paint Me"

The girls from 2NE1 could gather this year after many years for a joint concert, so we can only hope that the same will happen with MAMAMOO. Because as someone already wrote here, their concerts are a completely different galaxy, no lips sync and let's forget about the sound from the studio, because there is always a new musical adventure waiting for us. Better. Let's hope.
Not sure if it's been shared. But these songs all come from their performances on a competition show called Immortal Songs. Where they present their take on famous songs from other musicians. Like the "Way to Sampo" from the 1975 movie "The Road to Sampo". Another song they performed on the show was Delilah by Tom Jones. So, choreo is based on the original choreo of the song, if there is any. And none of the songs had a rap in them at all. Which makes Moobyul's performance that much more impressive. I believe they are still the only girl group to have won Immortal Songs. And had the most wins at 3 up until Ateez passed them recently. Those individual performances from the show are amazing.

This is old classical songs compilation. So u have to understand that there's no rap part in the original so moonbyul has to write her own lyrics and make rap in every songs to make it even more better . And ofcourse she brings the energy to song like u mentioned and also not to forget the fact that she is also a good vocalist who can do anything

This is from one of their Moosical Curtain Call concerts in 2017, probably the first one, which would make it just the 5th concert of their career. Their debut concerts in 2016 were called Moosical, naturally. lol Their annual concerts increased in length and quality every year until their last pre-pandemic shows in 2019 called 4 Seasons F/W ran 4-5 hours. You can find a pro quality video on yt of a 4 Seasons F/W concert with Eng subs (when they talk to the audience). Highly recommended when you've got the time.
Immortal Songs 2 is a singing competition tv show where current artists cover classic (immortal) songs by older artists. The medley includes snippets of some but not all of the songs they performed on the show between 2015-17. Mamamoo appeared on the show 14 times between 2015-19 and Solar later competed as a soloist.
Moonbyul love, happy she got recognition! Wheein also deserves her credit, but Hwasa is my favorite

It is worth mentioning that she learned to sing at the SM Academy, which already has the strongest singers in Korea.
I looove Moonbyul's voice. It's so soothing and full of emotion. All four, including Moonbyul, of them can sing better than most kpop singers I think and feel.

Great set of songs as are each one of these from the original performances. Immortal songs is a TV contest of singers taking on korean classic songs, yes covers mamamoo has a tendency to make covers sound like mamamoo, they appeared many times and were the first kpop group to win and had the most wins until a year or two ago when a male group got one more than their 3 wins. At the time it was considered an achievement because kpop idols rarely one, usually it was pure singers and Kpop was all about performance and appearance, mamamoo was the only group where vocals were the focus and why they won, this also exposed them to the public a lot. None of the songs had rap, so moonbyuyl had to write all of it. This medley is during their own concert where they put together the fan favorite songs from those, there are in fact more immortal songs. One thing they do for vocals is a lot of practice and they for years practice things like belts while doing lunges, running or whatever the goal being to carry those vocals through more complex choreo and consider that was 12 minutes of singing and choreo and were still belting and in tune to the end. They sing better than 99% of singers everywhere not just kpop. There is a video out there of Solar singing her new But I on a radio show on a stage, this compared to the MV recorded, the sound editor showed her singing exactly the same live, same pitch timing and everything, the only time she was off on time was an extra note or two on the live recording. They have the talent but really they are extreme with practicing so well deserved respect for the vocals. Wheein is the shortest but they are all basically the same very short height. I have seen them live in LA last year they absolutely can sing like that live and really it is better than recorded because they add to the songs for performances, Destiny live on queendom is epic. their live stream concert I saw as well, just under 4 hours with them declaring their intent to never leave the stage, leading to jokes about toilets, at concerts they are great comedians as well.

Seriously though, another Mamamoo reaction so soon? I've researched the b side Mamamoo reaction so many times. This one is one I absolutely love. Yeah, the choreo is a bit weird, and dated but it's from the time if these songs. The real choreo is with their vocals.

I recently watched your reaction to Monsta X and I appriciate the honesty and respect your opinions. BUT. I would recommend you guys to check them out again and watch Stuck, All in, Jealousy, Beautiful, Love Killa. These are all really good and shows off all the talent in the group. My personal favorite out of these is Stuck and Jealousy. (Sorry if I spelled anything wrong, english is not my first language 😅😅)
If Mamamoo no longer has to prove anything as a group haha can you just check out their content for fun and do their solos for more proper ratings - e.g. Wheein, Hwasa and Solar solo music and part 2 of Moonbyul one day.
You're really missing out by not watching the full live performances of this medley. Their performances of the full songs are on a whole other level.
In the full versions of these songs, they DO sing with full choreography for many of these songs and they still sound amazing.
The back story to this makes a difference, at least as far as the dancing. Also, watching the individual immortal songs adds to this

This concert was only 1.5 hours long and it was their 2017 Moosical concert. Their 4 Seasons SS/FW concerts were 4-5 hours long though and their My Con concerts which also included the US last year were around 2 hours long. This was also ripped from the dvd release so the vocals and other things were mastered, not very much though.
Musical lasts 2:30 or so, they had been in concert for an hour and twenty when they sang this medley. In everything else you are right.
@@janygonzalez2262 Disc 1 is the full concert and it runs for 110 minutes. Disc 2 is basically the same just with different camera angles of each member.
One thing to remember about this medley is that they're just covers of old timeless songs sung by other great artists. Moonbyul literally had to insert a rap into all of these songs.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned this already, but the dancing is actually from the original song. These were all covers of songs they performed for the show Immortal Songs (hence Immortal Songs Medley), so these are all their own versions of other artists songs. The song with that dance was a very popular song back the day and they did this dance in the video. The dance is pretty much considered 'iconic' for all the reasons you mentioned: it's silly and looks like an aerobics class. So when they covered the song the girls decided they just had to do the original choreo instead of making their own like they normally did. I also didn't like it at first, but after learning the story and seeing the original song myself I totally love it and support their choice to keep it. 😂

Mamamoo are absolute vocal queens, but just to debunk the whole "K-pop must lack talent because it's pop, so Mamamoo must be the exception" stereotype, there are SO many K-pop artists who transcend even Mamamoo's vocal gifts.
Mamamoo's Wheein and Solar are in the top 5 of best 3rd gen female vocalists, but Red Velvet's Wendy is the top of that list. (Btw, you mentioned Wheein stands out the least, but she's technically the best vocalist in Mamamoo. She's the no. 2 after Wendy.)
Pretty much any main vocalist from SM is some of the best vocal talent from Pop on a GLOBAL level : Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, EXO's Chen, Baekhyun, and DO, F(x)'s Loona, Super Junior's Kyuhyun, SES's Bada, TVXQ's Changmin, Aespa's NingNing. This list includes Wendy.
Then there are other vocal mammoths like Ailee, EXID's Solji, Apink's Jung Eunji, Sistar's Hyolyn, BTOB. There's SO much talent in K-pop.
I agree that Mamamoo is that one group where every single person excels, but that doesn't make other groups less talented. I mean, Mamamoo is also at a very compact number of 4 people.

for me Solar is clearly number one and that across all generations
watch the concerts, fan meetings, studio recordings and you will hear who the number one is

I've seen some who are supposed to be better vocalists than Solar.
This singer stays in their comfort zone when they sing, which means almost always slow songs.
But in my opinion it only shows who a really good vocalist is in different genres, for example rock or musical, fast paced songs with a lot of power.
And Solar isn't perfect, the others aren't either.
In my opinion, other vocalists have even more weaknesses.
It's much clearer to see.
@@aries14-v8k Technique and ability really aren't a matter of personal opinion - who has the wider range, who strains and who doesn't, who has more vocal agility, who has a developed vibrato, who can belt better. Subjectivity is things like whose voice do you like more, whose artistry do you appreciate more (as you mentioned, Solar is diverse, though interestingly, Wendy is faaaaar more diverse, it's evident in Red Velvet's discography). Anyway, I'm not a Solar or Mamamoo hater. I absolutely love them and keep watching their Immortal Song performances. In fact, haha, I kind of forgot because of this discussion....Solar is my Mamamoo bias. But, I'm also a vocalist, so, I'm going to be fair when ranking vocals.
