Well wanted to end up with slx since I am just more familier with minelar oil. But some part on my bike broke so needed to go down a bit in price. So ended with doere xt they are still si much better that the old. Love the feel of those!
I personally don't like shimano brakes that much because I can't feel how hard I am braking through the lever. On my Sram brakes I can feel exactly how much power they are putting out. The shimano brakes on my dads bike also feel really weird because half a millimeter of lever travel makes the difference between half power and locking up, but you can't even feel that through the lever. The only negative for sram brakes is the fading when they are hot but that is not a problem in my area
Yeah brakes are definitely a personal preference area I rekon! Stick to what works and keep looking when you aren't happy! Plenty of options out there these days.
hey bro thanx for doing vid but i gotta say if ur gonna do anything where ur sharing ur experience with a product u def need to have the volume of ur mic turned up a lil more and prolly best to keep any loud children away just for the video recording could barely hear most of what u said cause of the yelling .. just some constructive criticism.. i still appreciate the video just wish i heard everything u had said :)
Thanks for the feedback mate. I realised that after uploading it actually but was too late to do it all again 🤣

I have slx m7120 brakes in my Marin Rift Zone. I think about code rsc because I fell once and now I have bent lever. All shimano MTB levers are very narrow and highly bendable. Flo levers don't look any better.

I changed to code and now I understand why author changed to SLX :D waiting for galfer pads. Stock are quite weak
@@SixFootSixMTB for me it's Leakmano atleast ofr the low end brake slike deore and below, all leaked, I got rid of the brakes today thst were leaking, as a dude needed the hoses, so I sold some stuff so he got those too. 😊 I had m6000 which were warranty replacement for M615, m396, which leaked, go more in depth on my website. But long story short all leaked before warranty was up in caliper and the master cylinder, all the replacements leaked too some in some minute, weeks, months. Also they are weak at stock reach setting, and adjusting for a child means they are a adesth reap cus you barely press the piston, you can't press it enough, for properly functioning brakes you need the levers all the way out and have to have long fingers or the brakes are awful, my mechanical brakes ar e much more powerful, I have full power at proper reach. But the m396 had that too, cus the lever did not have servo wave. If yoy have a brake with servoeave yoy have to have the bite point adjustment. About 2 wears since I sent back the replacements that leaked and still no answer. I have up. I only wanted replacement of the replacements them to sell them for cheap anyway. Which I would have done with if they did not leak, but no new replacement. So no I don't have any shimano brakes nor brake fluid, nor bleed cup, I got rid of it all. Best bang for buck seems to be mt420 brakes they are the cheapest 4 piston brakes from Shimano and they don't have servowave, so a child or person with small hands and fingers could use it too.

100% Shimano are awesome value and easy to bleed. Awesome bite with no fade. I’ve got the Icetech rotors on my GT and fitted them after a couple weeks running the original Tektro style rotors with my XT calipers and the difference in just the rotors with the calipers was amazing too. 👌🏻 quality vid mate
Yeah there were a few times where I thought I was going crazy thinking my 2pot shimanos had less brake fade than my code RSCs... Shimano know how to make a great brake 🙌
@@SixFootSixMTB yeah I’ve got from 2 pot Xt. on my last bike to 4 pot XT and it’s even next level. And they’re cheap to buy on line but run the same rotors which is great. 👌🏻
Yeah I think you either love or hate the shimano bite feel hey! I wouldn't say sram are dodgy, especially in vode rsc form but in my opinion, not as good as shimano
i gotta say i was always a sram guy and even loved there drive trains the most … but dang shimano are so strong and so good right out of the box is insane .. i’ve had sram level t all way up to 2021 G2 Ultimates and also Magura M8 and they all always seemed to be not 100% bled or just not great power .. i do like how they don’t lock up as easy but i’d rather just get use to the power of shimano and never look back .. there just so easy to work with and so powerful and nowadays there’s even a lil more Modulation with all that power now so how can u best that.. Also might be time to try shimano’s new Derailleur Cassette and shifter .. my friend said it’s much smoother then sram .. guess i might have to find out .. lmao
@@anthonyaspromonte761 yeah when I got my bike last year it came with shimano brakes and sram drivetrain. Both are awesome and have served me well over the 4,500km I’ve done so far. I rode a trek slash at Maydena with sram brakes and found them to not have enough stopping power. Also I love the levers on the shimano brakes

I downgraded from kid to dog
I am stuck between code r or shimano slx 4 piston. I have one shot. Help me!!! This is driving me crazy!!!!
Sorry mate, probably a bit late now. Interested to hear what you went. I'm still stoked on my SLXs

Awesome! Hard to go past the shimano brakes
sounds like you had a bleeding issue with your RSCs. they don't fade on downhills UNLESS you have done something wrong

shimano actually have something else than full lock ? 1st news my XT only have on-off and I'm not liking it
