graco snugride 35 rear facing infant car seat with click connect base, and belt secure option fits in the middle seat without compromising any foot space! I could see how the latch system would be difficult to use in the trax.
It's not too bad at accommodating child seats. It seems better than the Nissan Juke. Nissan actually has a list of recommended child seats that fit the Juke. The Trax's trunk could hold your travel roller bags better, and that was quite clever how you positioned the 2 child seats in a "Y" formation, with just a sliver of visibility through the rear view mirror. I noticed you never did a child seat review for the Juke. Maybe next time for the 2015 model with Scion styled color customization?
This is really helpful. Thanks. BTW, I noticed that after you removed the cargo area cover, you had resting on a shrub or something on the ground next to you. Did you know that, once removed, it can store in a little channel at the back of the cargo area just behind the rear seat backs? Or would that have prevented the luggage & child seats from being able to fit with the hatch closed?
A car seat review really needs to address anchor depth in the seat bite as well as the ease of access to the anchors due to the firmness of the cushions. I would like a look at the tether locations and the ease of rear headrest removal/adjustment as the rear headrests often interfere with high back boosters.
It's virtually impossible to remove the headrests in the back, and there are no anchors for the top latch in the middle, so I don't know how he was able to put the middle one in
