    Thank you for visiting the Choicemas "STOP THE CLOCK" Channel. I create content with hopes to inspire, motivate, educate, empower, and help others. A majority of my videos are Educational videos teaching the ins and outs of Safety and Securement, as well as the excitement of driving a 18 Wheeler Semi-Truck throughout the country. In addition, I have some inspirational, motivational commentary that I feel can help others. Recently I've opened up my page to Vlogs and Roadtrips with my wife and I that carry some humor and interest. I hope you can find videos you like, and if you do... give us a thumbs up and hit the subscribe button, as we sincerely appreciate the support and the amazing feedback we've received throughout the years. I started this channel knowing nothing at all and have come a very long way, and the journey has all been worth it. Many thanks to you all, God bless. -Choicemas

      +Newhouse Truckin My man New! Thanks, I appreciate it. Have to learn this other tapping style for Coils though. Unhappy with the tarp. It looked good, but it can look better, and apparently can save me some mpg if I master the "Aero Tarp" 👍🏼

    Whenever I get my cdl, I'm planning on going for flatbed, plus your more active, I prefer lumber, I probably wouldn't be comfortable with the chains. How long did that take to strap, and tarp?

    • @choicemas
      @choicemas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man this vid is so old I’m not sure. I have other newer vids that show you exactly (without edits) how long it takes to tarp roofing material. Chains aren’t bad once you use them and get use to them. In fact using 5/16 chains… they are faster and easier than strapping in my opinion.

  • @bosco358
    @bosco358 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    im guessing that those coils were not too heavy which is why you used straps on them instead of chains am I correct ?

    • @choicemas
      @choicemas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bosco358 nah they were heavy. Straps are one of the standards for “Eye to the sky” or “Upright” coils. Had they been “Shotgun” or “Suicide” I would have used chains. The straps have a WLL of 5,400lbs. So 3 straps do the job on these coils that weighed about 40-42k. Using the strap across the front of the pallet to prevent any forward movement. You could use chains if you wanted to though for sure, you just have to be mindful of damaging the coil. Also, considering they are tarped it is much easier to load-check straps under a tarp than it is chains.

    What's up bro. I'm at Roehl now in the end of Phase 1. We just finished Cargo Securement. Is there a Vetter way to understand the formulas of how many tiedowns, chains, etc. You are supposed to have on a load.

    • @choicemas
      @choicemas  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jamar Tyms peace J. Glad to hear you got through phase 1. That's what's up. Best formula is go by DOT regs and put extra Securement on every load until you begin to learn the requirements by each load you do. You learn as you go. Orrrrr you can study the Cargo Securement book. Just always remember 2 straps in the first 10 ft, and one strap very 10 ft. after that. That should be your bare minimum always. When you are getting loaded at shippers, when you are passing other flatbedders on the road and at shippers be aware of what they are doing. Ask questions. Keep your eyes open and peep what they do. Use your best judgement and remember there is no such thing as "too much Securement!" Most loads with Roehl will get strapped. Coils get chains. And sometimes you will use chains on steel bar. Chains on Steel plates too! You need anything holla at me. Email me and I will send you my math and you can reference me whenever needed! Stay Fresh!

    Wow No I mean No rubber or plastic edge protectors being used.

    • @choicemas
      @choicemas  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cannon Ball didn’t need plastic edge protectors on this load. Not all coils require it because they have there own plastic or cardboard protection in addition to the paper.
