Great Vid. I have 2500 miles on the C8 brought it home July 20th this year. Going to try and take it Cedar Point this weekend.... Heck yeah. Have a great day everyone....
Mr. Conti,,I had no idea about the tire rotation,,thanks for the information,,I will try to remember that 🤔!! Rick,,Stop Dreaming and Start Driving!! Thanks again sir 👍😉
Another home run great video Rick. Things you just don't think about. Also awesome rides. I love your videos. Rick until the next time GOD BLESS & be safe!
Interesting on the TPMS for the C8, the C7 seems to automatically re-learn the sensors. I switch back and forth between daily and track tires. The pressures are different and the car learns the new pressures after about 5 minutes of driving, if it even takes that long. I do use the AC Delco TPMS sensors.
@@jster171 I reviewed the C8 manual and it has the same exact wording on the automatic TPMS relearn as the C7 manual. My guess is the dealership cannot wait 20 minutes for the car to sit. Time is money.
Thanks for all the informative videos. There's some dealers I know of that should really be watching these. They're pretty lost when you ask some questions.
Page 272 of the 2021 C8 manual states that after rotating or changing tires the system will automatically match and relearn the TPMS sensor codes after a few miles all by itself.
I take it that the tires are multidirectional and can can rotate in any direction. Because that changes when you rotate sides. I did look and I did not see any arrows showing any particular direction to be installed.
Use the "Relearn" selection in the DIC. Read the manual, Page 272 TPMS Sensor Matching Process - Auto Learn Function Each TPMS sensor has a unique identification code. The identification code needs to be matched to a new tire/wheel position after rotating the tires or replacing one or more of the TPMS sensors. When a tire is installed, the vehicle must be stationary for about 20 minutes before the system recalculates. The following relearn process takes up to 10 minutes, driving at a minimum speed of 20 km/h (12 mph). A dash (-) or pressure value will display in the DIC. See Driver Information Center (DIC) 0 92. A warning message displays in the DIC if a problem occurs during the relearn process.
Awesome tech Tuesday video today Rick!!! Great to know what absolutely has to be done at 7,500 miles!!! Also the tire rotation and relearning of the tire censors is good to know about too! Great rides segment today as well!!! Still dreaming but one day I’ll be driving!!!
If you purchase the Z51 package GM should have automatically added 2 more quarts of oil in the transmission for what your pain for and state so. Supercars need extra oil to keep cooler and for G turns. What up GM? Are the tires bidirectional? If not what does swapping them from left to right do? Wear the treads in opposite direction to even the other edge of the tread? I thought you would remove the tires and remount them on the rims. If that's the case, why relearn the sensor? Any help would be great. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Rick, always the best content and always timely, and always informative and fun. Thanks much.....BUT!!!!! How then do I rotate them myself?? or at a regular tireshop with out the special tool????? there's got to be a way.
Don't pay the dealer to rotate your C8 tires. Do it yourself. Just remember that left is right and right is left when you get an alert. Next rotation you'll be good again.
The system automatically relearns the proper sensor positions after you drive for a while just like it did on the C7s. You don't need a dealership to use a fancy gadget like Chuck had.
Hey Rick, not sure all that nonsense with the TPMS relearn is required on these cars. I have 2 sets of wheels for my 21 C8 with original equipment TPMS sensors and I can swap wheel sets at will and the car learns the sensors and locations within a few miles of driving. I feel like Chuck should know this.
This is what I experienced as well. The system actually learns when tire switch (left to right) occurs and calibrates the TPMS correction automatically.
Good stuff Rick! 👏....btw....how soon till Chuck starts his Christmas 🎶 music....fa La la LA la....LA LA LA laaaaaaa. Best to both of you! Rapid Blue first service done here... ✔ 💙
Hi Rick, how do you guys get on with your insurance cover with off road activities , here in New Zealand as soon as the car leaves an "offical" roadway eg raceways etc, your insurance cover ceases to exist and any damage whether to your self (car) or second party is on you??
Thanks for the kind comment - so much out there and we have such a VERY hyper targeted channel....who knows...but support means a lot, was getting 800-1000 a month, around 400-700 now, could be time of the year...I want to inform you guys and have the must fun doing it
Wow, you want to make it personal, that’s super awesome of you. I have been a subscriber for over a year now, and the subscriptions seem to have plateaued recently. But I guess you can take a positive comment of mine to Rick and start an internet squabble if you like. Definitely shows your character.
Seems common practice at dealerships and other garage to ignore basic service, charge for unnecessary expensive things while ignoring preventative maintenance. Just another scam in the modern economy. Been a constant issue at Cadillac dealership for my 2014 CTS
Rick Wednesday's tragic accident I reported earlier to you about a whole truck load of C8 Corvettes that were on fire and probably were a total loss of close to 900,000 the sad part is these people have been waiting over a year or so for their cars and now what are they going to do now
I do not see this tire rotation and relearning sensor as a big deal, this is not new and has been around for a long time. The issue will be getting rotation by someone who does not know or care about the sensors. Any tire store when not busy will check air and check/set sensors as a courtesy. C8 does have a different tool that plugs into the car where the older ones did not. My local service station would rotate tires with an oil change as a courtesy but never reset the sensors and I would never know until checking air pressure and realize the tires were reading wrong. Frankly the transmission fluid change should be a warranty no cost item if required during the BTB warranty period, maybe that has been resolved now in late 2024?
Very informative, as usual. I just put a new set of all season Michelins on my 2019 ZR1 and didn’t really think about having the tire sensors relearned. I’ll have to check to see if mine are correct. Thanks for the scoop!
I think you should keep the new tire burn out intro as your every day one. Like the smoke show aspect!! Great information as always and keep pushing these new C8 owners to drive their cars like they where intended to be driven not stored in a garage like some sort of trophy.
I don’t get it. What’s the purpose of explaining how to relearn the tire position with an expensive tool when the car does it automatically on its own (page 290 of my 2024 manual)?
I have a c4 and I have directional tires so dose that mean c8 dose not just a little confused I thought all corvettes had directional tires 🤔🤔 one of your Faithful Viewers My name is Jeff have a great day
Rick, am I correct if you don't do a correction of the TPMS after a tire rotation will you get an alert on your center dash from your tire pressure monitoring system?
I think I remember hearing that for the first 500 miles you should check your oil level every time you fill the gas tank. Was that a recommendation at one time, and is it still the current thinking?
Thanks Rick Great info from you and Chuck again. Wonder how many owners didn't know about the rotation and relearn. Thanks for the tech info, been awhile. 🇺🇸👍
Not unless you take the tires off the wheels first. You also don't need to have a fancy tool like Chuck had. All you have to do is drive the car for a while after rotating the tires & the sensors will relearn the proper sensor positions automatically. It was the same on the C7s.
Agree: tech vlogs super important to all owners, and those dealers who sell and service very few C8 corvettes
I'm not even a Corvette owner, but I stumbled across this channel and I find it interesting.
So glad I don't miss any of these Informative and fun. Great work Rick.

Thank heavens for guys like Chuck since it’s nearly impossible to service your own car because of the electronics. Love seeing these tech vlogs.

Rotate tires? When did we stop using directional tires?
Arnt most tires directional? On my cars the are.
wow! What special effects!
Who pays for the 2 qts, side to side tire swap and relearn? Or is it a gm money maker?

Recommendation for your license plate "THX TADG"
So are you rotating tires because you have all season tires?
No need ro relearn the tpms. The monitoring system automatically learns the new sensor location after a few miles.
Correct, I should have mentioned that....forgot it says that in the manual....
Great vlog, Rick!

Never us an air impact on lug nuts! It damages the nuts!
And you could over torque the lug nuts and warp the rotors
