This sounds like the similar set-up that was on the ZL1 Camaro. The C8 will be my first Corvette. I'm glad you've bought this out to everyone's attention. As I've seen on FB new owners doing donuts or burnout's and the brake keeps them from get the car to react in they way they think it should. Thanks for explaining these features!
Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻 Yeah, these different settings and modes can be a little confusing, but they're really important to understand to get the most out of the car.
I found the best results on highway pulls, you can put it in either track or sport mode, then at you can leave the car in drive; but on a 55 or 60 roll; use the paddle shifter to put the car back in 3rd gear. You can just floor it, and at about 90 mph, the trans will automatically dump you into 4th gear at a higher rpm, which seems like its faster this way, but I never timed it. When it does use full power, the car will backfire in the split second it does the 3rd to 4th shift, at least in my experience.
Thanks for the clear and concise information and instructions I’ve watched a ton of videos trying to figure this all out and your video helped me the most. Thanks.
Really good. I haven't seen anyone else explain in detail how to access & use these options. I stopped video and made notes for future reference. I will probably want to use either Sport 1 or Sport 2 depending on the course and it's conditions for Autocross. Thanks very helpful !
I am going to live vicariously through you folks, my dealership is far too incompetent from the front door to the back door to take a chance. The lack of parts in case something did break, which will keep your car in the shop for weeks and or months It’s just not worth it to me. I’ll just drive mine like I borrowed it not like I stole it.
The PTM (Performance Traction Management) requires the Z51 option that includes the eLSD. Mag Ride alone on a base Stingray without the Z51 option will not provide PTM settings. For non-Z51 Stingrays, you can still launch the car in Sport or Race mode, but you cannot fine tune the Launch RPM and slippage %. Non-Z51 have LSD and not the eLSD required to fine tune the Launches. The default RPM when launching a non-Z51 is 3,500 RPM.
Thank you, my custom build should be showing up July 2024, I don’t plan on tracking it though. I’m just an old man without a leash if you know what I mean. 😈
Just so people know, pretty much any vehicle if you push traction control once removes it and long press it shuts of stability control. I own a Cadillac SRX , Toyota Tundra,Durango SRT and a Daytona Hellcat. It works the same on each one, so my guess is it works on anything. Now , my Tundra is lifted so be careful removing stability control because it helps with preventing rollover , but it will make your truck a lot faster on straight aways, on some trucks you long push the tow/haul button to achieve this. Be safe
IDK about the C8 but my bmw TCS and ESC work exactly the same way, and if you shut them both off - thats it, there is no interference from the computer.
I spent sometime in the car yesterday setting up both the track options and changed to Touring display that shows actual numbers instead of trying to re ad the dial. This be part Sport or Track display not Touring. You are way too busy while racing to read a dial, numbers are much easier Thanks for the info
Corvette school at Spring Mountain will go through the different modes. Was hoping this vid would cover the exhaust. How much muffling between Sport and Track mode (obviously Tour is way muffled.)
The modes control the arm valves and exhaust valves They work together. In track mode they are both wide open , sport mode allows the afm valves and exhaust valves to be controlled by throttle. They open at wide open throttle in sport mode and track mode they stay open
I'm status 3000 also, decided to go without Z51 (probably regret it) but added Performance exhaust. Doubtful I'll ever track my car. What options will be available on my car for these performance options, and will tracking, if ever, be a no no?
You'll still be able to access Competitive Driving Mode in Sport and Track by pressing the traction control button twice 👍🏻 Just no Performance Traction Management since you won't have Magnetic Ride Control.
so with esc off will the car get loose? like can you get the car to power oversteer? i was hearing that the c8 will not get tail happy at all even with all the electronic nannies off. i really hope thats not true
Do you think there will be aftermarket bumpers that remove the extra bodyline right under the headlights? I think its unnecessary and makes the front not look as good.
Hello CC&T. I have a technical question if I may. Can the valet mode be by-passed by the Chevy technician? I've had my C-7 Zo6 in for service and it appears that the mechanic is by-passing my valet mode when he takes the car out for a test drive.
The channel Speed Phenom did 2.8 sec 0-60 in Competitive Drive Mode. So far the fastest I have seen in the C8 without NOS or any kind of mod to the engine.
Why not launch in paddle shift mode. That way you can use the RPM's for the launch just the way you want. Put the car in paddle shift mode, pull both paddles towards you, rev to whatever rpm you want, and let go the 2 paddle shifters!!! I would try in Sport mode 1st. I've done a video on Launch Control AND PTM. PTM is amazing!!!
So, are you saying that in Comp Driving mode, all you need to do is hold the brake, go to full throttle, when the RPM gets to 3500 release brake? Sorry, I'm still not clear as to whether launch control is selected from a menu, or it's just there in Comp Drive Mode?
Please question: In Track mode will the car go between V4 & V8 in automatic driving? I mean without using pedal shifters or put it in manual. I did read the comments, but need to be sure.
Thanks 👍🏻 I would use sport mode so you'll still have access to launch control but the suspension won't be as stiff as track mode which helps the car squat. I have another video recently showing my personal launches in multiple different modes.

Anyone else feel like their c7 grandsport in track mode handles tighter and feels more nimble than the c8 z51 magride in track mode? Is it just an illusion, i mean the g’s they both tolerate seem to be as advertised but the feel almost contrary
From Ron Fellows Corvette School: You always have full power available in all the modes, if you're driving well. But if the cars senses you need ESC, then it will temporarily cut back power to straighten you up. The amount of power cut does vary with each mode, less agressive as you go toward Race.
I just got my C8 a couple of weeks ago. I've played around with Tour, Sport, and Track modes, but never messed with the TC button (always been a no-no with all of my cars). Now I'm wanting to mess around with it, since there seems to be much deeper levels than simply on/off. My question is though, it is said that you get "full engine power" with CPM, or in PTM on Race mode (not doing that one since it totally turns off ESC/TC). But are you saying that being simply in Sport or Track (without messing with the TC button and going into these additional modes), that I haven't experienced "full engine power"? Because that bothers me a bit to think I was under the impression of experiencing all of the engine's power. I want to have FULL POWER, but I also want at the least, some ESC/TC.
Just go on sport mode and push traction twice to put you in competitive mode. In launch control you should be around 3500 rpms before take off to know it worked. My average is 2.8 secs 0-60 doing this.

Even with traction control off and ESC off, it is difficult to burn and smoke tires in a C8 Stingray. If the tires are wet then you can spin them more easily. You cannot simply hold the break and hit the throttle to burn tires. The C8 is designed to go fast at the launch and not burn tires. You can do a "Double Paddle rapid declutch" where you pull both paddles in to put the car into neutral, rev the car to 6,500 RPMs and then release both paddles to engage into 1st gear. This is your best opportunity to spin the rear tires. It may only leave a short rubber patch on the road.
Thumbs down from me. Great video. But there is absolutely no instruction on how to engage or perform launch control. Despite the title and video description.
