Chad won the lottery when he married her. They are perfect together
Getting married in Hotel Covington! Cant wait
Congrats!
Congrats!!!
Great camera work, and editing. One of your best one to date. Editing and doing my own have grown my appreciation in the work it takes for each 5 second shot. Great Work!
Thanks so much!
Please do more on Covington!!
Yet another great post! I would love to see more of your time in Covington.
Point system is great, especially if you're getting points for beer too. Smart for the stores, and customers. They get customer loyalty, customers get bottles for decent prices, scalpers get the shaft.
As long as the point requirements aren't ridiculous. $1000 spend just for the chance to buy a Knob Creek 18 is pretty excessive, especially as the points expire in 6 months.
I love OKBB. Tiny little place with good selection
This inspired us to stay at the Hotel North by Covington. Amazing place! I just posted a video about my trip and mentioned/linked to this video. Hope that's alright. Cheers guys!
@@TheBourbonJerk Of course! Thanks for the shout out!
Think the points system is fair. As long as the selection available for purchase is worth it.
I think points is good if your local. Keeps customers coming back, but sucks if your traveling and want to buy something nice. Seems most of the points required are a bit ridiculous though.
Going to Scotland in May with my wife, can't wait!
Revival is a must when you visit that area. Love that place.
Folks...Thank you for Elevating the Bourbon Hunting Experience with Trip Advisor. Even IF I could afford some of these bottles...they'd be museum pieces in my home en route to my Probate Estate! Cheers & Happy St Paddy's Day & Slainte!
Would love to see a video of the New Riff tour!
Not doing the points thing. Lol. Back to hunting.
This video brings back fond memories. I lived above a funeral home in Covington while I was in mortuary school there and I lived in Cincy for 6 years as well, from 2009-2015. I frequented Party Source quite a bit as well as OKBB Bourbon Bar in Covington (great place and THE best drinks). Molly Malone’s has fantastic food!!! Currently drinking some EH Taylor Small Batch, cheers you two!! Thanks for bringing back fond memories :) (Next time you’re there, you need to try Hofbrauhaus in Newport. GREAT German food!)
Great video, looks like a fun time.❤
Great episode guys, loved this one alot.
Love when Ibn highlights northern KY/Cincinnati area!
We know you love that New Riff, son!
Of course I want another video about the rest of the trip. This was a fun one. Thanks!
Great video. Thanks for taking us along for the experience. Would love to see the video especially the Wenzel experience
Love Innis & Gunn
Really enjoyed the video! I like the experience aspect more than finding the bottles itself. Helpful for those visiting KY for future trips.
Great Video as usual. I will use this as huge reference when my wife and I visit Covington. Absolutely love the bars you hit.
would love to see another video of all the other things you guys did there. always interested in things to do around those areas. thanks for the great content keep up the great work!!
Love this episode! And great timing! I’ll be in the area in two weeks for spring break. We’ll be hitting a bunch of the B-Line stops (most of places you stopped) and hunting along the way. I’d love to see a part 2 to cover the stops you mentioned.
"Hey what up Snoop!" LOL!!!
A great weekend getaway indeed! Up in the air on the point system.....okay if you frequent the store over and over, but if you shop around not so great!
Yo, that was a great episode man !!!!!!
Great video !
Thanks for the video it was good 🥃
Thanks for visiting Northern KY! Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Revival is fantastic and so many other great bars/restaurants in Covington. Gotta get out of the city a bit to find better bottle prices, it’s still KY and bourbon is stupid popular and therefore stupid expensive here.
I stay at the Hotel Covington monthly while there for work. Knowledge is a great little bar, but you also need to checkout the main bar. Mitch is on the team that picks the barrels for the hotel, and has some great insight and talent for picking pours for customers. Wednesday is half off craft bourbon and ryes night. Also, Libby’s Southern Comfort has some great dusty selections, along with the newer stuff. Thursday is half off vintage pours. Love the hunting videos!
Ahh, been looking for an OE 4 grain. Brought some Innis and Gunn home with me from Scotland. It's great.
Anytime we get to see Sarah’s reaction to one of Chad’s jokes, it’s a great video 😂
Great video! Bourbon hunting in the OKI is a lot different than what we do in Texas. You need to have a part two of this one! I was up there last year for a wedding in Covington and regretted not hitting more of these places, especially New Riff. The bars associated with the Hotel Covington are great.
We recently did a trip from PA to OH and we had several folks recommend other stores. It was refreshing. (Our controlled state buyers in PA need to do better, but they're slowly getting there).
Thanks for highlighting our hotel!
This seems like a cool little town/fun trip.
Looove Hotel Covington! We go atleast once a year. The corn fritters at Coppins are a must. Their New Riff picks are some of the best I've had.
Nice job on the footage…all around good editing
Great vid we need a part 2
Great video, and if you have enough film on the New Riff visit, I’d definitely like to see that tour!
I've been to Party Source once. Just a little ways down the bourbon aisle I had 4 bottles in my arms so I headed back up front. A cashier asked if I was ready, and I said "No, I need a cart" Think I walked out with around 10 bottles, lol.
the best part of the merchants club is you can pay 1$ to try a store pick. best deal ever and theyve definitely gotten me to buy bottles that way too
We stayed in the hotel behind the White Castle when we were there in July. If you want Weller Special Reserve or Buffalo Trace you need to hit the distillery, not too far away. They usually have cases and cases. Don't miss Boone County and New Riff.
Shout out to Newport, KY! Bakers table, New Riff Distillery, Party Source, and newberry’s are in Newport not Covington. Newport is due East of Covington over the Licking River
Yeah, we know. “Covington and surrounding areas” just doesn’t have the same pop in the title 🙂
I would like to see more of your adventures in Covington.
Really need to drive up that way more often. Cinci has a pretty cool beer culture too that we just discovered.
Commenting on the precision wine and spirits bottle. I’ve had the Navigator bourbon which is one of their brands and was pretty great for the $25 I paid
Love Revival! Brad Bonds does a great job! Shout out to the Old McBrayer brand in the video!
Love bourbon hunting videos. I’d love to see more of Covington. Don’t know anything about that area.
point system is fine cuz it helps the store and the regulars get allocated stuff instead of just the high rollers getting it all. i have no problem with it. my store could learn something from this although when they get most allocated, they sell for msrp and they're great people. problem is "hunters" end up getting the deals cuz they rip thru there and i dont get over there as often as it would take to score them.
I love this video. I've not been to any of those places (well besides New Riff and Party Source) and I live right across the river. Hey, if you ever need a drinking buddy (heh heh get it?) next time you're in NKy, let me know. 😁
19:23 Beautiful shot!
Love these hunting videos
I shop Uncorked frequently, their store picks are amazing and staff always friendly. Just tell them the types of bourbons you like and they will point you in the right direction.
Uncorked is my go to store, one thing I like about the point system is anyone can add to your points but only you can cash them out, so if you have family or friends that are beer/wine drinkers then that can really help you out. I don’t know if you have been there but jungle Jim’s is a must see for bourbon hunting 2 locations about 20 minutes outside of Cincinnati
Great video, looks like a cool place to visit especially the vintage bottle spot. Points systems are fine if you have no budget. Spending that kinda coin to accumulate enough is crazy to me
I don’t care if that Wild Turkey bowling ball is a million dollars, I must have it!!!
You're in luck, it was around $150 if I remember right!
Uncorked is my most frequented store. Their store picks are typically good. My favorite so far was their 1792 FP last year for only $47 and 200 points. One thing to note is that the shelves that require 300 points are just 300 points earned lifetime. It doesn't matter if you have 300 remaining pts. If you've spent $300 at the store, you can always buy from those shelves. And on that 6-mo expiration thing. Let's just say they're not always sticklers.
Something you didn't mention that is an amazing feature of the Merchant's Club at The Party Source. You can try any of their store picks, regardless of bottle price, for $1. And they're not one drop either. Advertised as 0.25 oz, often closer to 0.5 oz. Truly an amazing deal being able to drink $100+ bottles for $1. Two weeks ago, I had Garrison Brothers, Rabbit Hole, Whistlepig, Rare Character, Peerless, and more for $8. If anyone does this, please tip generously. I have seen people beside me tip 20% on these pours.
Yes please on the other vid!!
If the prices were good I would shop at a store that has a point system but otherwise not a fan. Great video!
Enjoyed this... Lots of great selection down there that we can only dream of out here in the heavily state controlled mountain West. I would definitely be interested in the second video about your other adventures there. On the point system, I think I understand why some merchants would go that way, but I'm not a big fan and it certainly doesn't work for Bourbon hunting.
I suppose the point deal might work if it incudes cigarettes, racing forms, beer jerky, Cheetos and other necessities.
I just bought an Innis & Gunn special edition aged in Laphroaig and Port casks.
Great quality video, informative and entertaining! I would enjoy seeing more of the trip not shown in this video. The point system is decent as long as they don’t expire. 6-month expiration makes the program useless, IMO.
I think a points system is a reasonable way to rewards patrons to your store. The only problem I have off the cuff is points expiration. There's no guarantee whatever bottle you are working towards will be there when you finally build up enough points to get it.
Uncorked used to be the cork and bottle
That was the place, they used to have barrels of pappy in the basement literally barrels
Bought a few bottles of Van Winkle family reserve distilled in 1967 there and Keven who ran the place asked "how many do you want" bought 3 drank 2 sold the last one this year for 32000 dollars.
Thanks Kevin
Points systems are great if you are a loyal customer, not so great if you are a hunter who buys from multiple stores
Next time your in the Cincy area and looking for innis & gunn check out Jungle Jims. They have a crazy beer selection!
I like the idea of a points system. We don't have any systems like that at small stores in Maryland. The 6 month expiration is kinda crappy. That's a quick turn around to spend money. You'd think loyalty, no matter how fast you spend, would be rewarded.
I’m ok with a point system if it’s reasonable number for allocated bottles at MSRP. Also I would like to see your New Riff tour and test of your trip to Covington.
Perfect timing…we are thinking about Hotel Covington in May. I know the hotel is dog friendly, did you notice any other dog friendly spots, like New Riff? Oh, and I think we have 6 different Innis & Gunn choices here in Ontario, Canada….but not so great shopping for bourbon.
Love this hunting Episodes
Chad Sounds he was cold ?
A Little bit
If you want SR just come into Cincinnati, it seems like it's almost a shelf product here.
Liquor city uncorked is owned by the Gallensteins now. So is stadium, but separate point system. Great people. Allen the manager at uncorked is amazing. I live in the area
I’d love to see more of your Covington footage.
Local to this area and glad to say prices have fallen sharply for a lot of allocated stuff over the last few months. Still not buying, but Stagg has gone from $300+ at a lot of stores to "only" $150-200.
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Never heard of point system in Europe, but I guess works fine if you shop in bulk once a month 🤣
Hoping to get to Kentucky this year in September, any advice on places to stay or places to go? Never been and would love to hit a distillery or two
The points system is fine with me. It's a slightly more inclusive version of being on the "special customer" list. Thank goodness I'm on said list. Cheers Drinking Buddies
Innis and Gunn is here in Missouri at Total Wine @$17.49 for a sixer. Belhaven is also my jam, I just don't love the cans they come in now.
Wow, I found a bottle of Blanton's in Upstate NY for $99 and snatched it up as soon as I saw it! Hard to believe you are seeing it for over $120 in Kentucky. On the down side the same store was selling Jack Daniel's 12 yr for $225...😡
As someone who has only been fully into bourbon for about 3-4 months, and wants to try the hyped of stuff before buying, I need to find a place that has tastings for the price of Stadium Liquor
liquor city had all the OGD114
Belhaven Brewery is at the end of mum's road.
That’s so cool!
Please do the follow up Covington video
I always bust out at the Covington liqour stores and end up at Revival
Those aren’t “unheard prices.” Sounds like normal pricing out here in the PNW
I don't mind a point system, it rewards regular customers and keeps away people looking for a quick flip. However, I think 6 month expiration on those points is not great.
Points shouldn’t expire. Loyalty over time is still loyalty
At least make it a year
We were in Covington several years ago, but we didn't shop for bourbon. I think the point system at these stores is ridiculous along with their overpriced bourbon. I'll spend my money on regularly priced bourbons that are delicious and readily available.
Damn i got blantons in new england for ~ a benji
I'm not crazy about points with that kind of dollar requirement. Maybe if it were around $200-300.
I guess each point system depends on the details, but in the end it is just a loyalty rewards program...you're loyal to them, and they'll be loyal to you. So I think it is a good system generally. Although I think points should expire on an ANNUAL basis (not 6 months). BTW, it was unclear from your video, if you had the 800 points, do they get "used up" when you buy the rare bottle? Or, can you also buy other rare bottles with the 800 pt "threshold"?!
The way I understood it, you use the points up when you buy something from that level.
@@ItsBourbonNight Yep, you're correct. I saw one of their Christmas FB posts say come in an "burn those points." In that case, that is one of the stingier rewards programs. Having to spend $1,000-2,000 in 6 months for the privilege of getting ONE rarish bottle for about MSRP is quite steep (and makes secondary prices seem quite reasonable). The Total Wine rewards program seems downright reasonable by comparison (getting 4+ rarish bottles for spending $2,500 over a year (plus, the status carries over to the next year).
Point system is good for mom and pop stores I think it promotes people to shop there instead of a bigger store like Total Wine. I dont have a problem with it I would rather that than you are put in lottery where you can get a allocated bottle for MSRP.🥃
Love the points system. I’m a loyal customer and loyalty should be rewarded
As a european viewer, the point systems seems crazy to me. Its a shame that the high demand makes it increasingly diffucult for you guys.
What kind of camera do you guys use. ?
For this episode it was a combination of the iPhone and a Canon R6 MKII.
