The Smiths were my favorite during the 80's...Suede were my favorite during the 90's....it's a nice tribute to watch these two legend guitarist....and JM gave Bernard one of his guitars...how sweet is that for Bernard...to receive a guitar form his biggest inspiration Johnny Marr..
great interview with two geniuses. great guitarists of the 80s and 90s. i love the mutual respect and the good friendship they seem to have. nice guys with it.
Butler is my U-L-T-I-M-A-T-E guitar hero. Hope that he will get back to recording and playing live and not just producing other artisits' records. Bernie come home!!! We miss you!
Bernard is a fantastic guitar player/songwriter. You can easily tell how much he´s been inspired by Marr on his compositions. An Marr, well, he´s simply the ´God of guitar players.
Jesse Mullen - I’m moved by both of their playing. I’ve been influenced by their guitar playing and songwriting. And both are truly nice Stand-Up dudes. No artifice. No bullshit. I’ve met Johnny a few times. He’s always been kind and willing to have a word. He “gets” that fans enjoy his music and makes time for the fans.
Butler was in a TV programme some time ago - aghast that he saw "How Soon Is Now" as a youth, and thought that it was "sickening" or similar words that he, with his given talent (which he has), had somehow, with that one, the best song ever, was taken from him. As if he exists in the same district. Johnny, mate, you are the man. I can see by your face: music speaks louder than words. Thanks for posting. I love suede, but perspective, eh? T.
Johnny Marr is aging so much better than his Smiths band mates. He is also better looking than the rest of them as well. He is also a fantastic guitarist that I truly believe ranks up there with Clapton, Page and Robert Fripp. As far as The Smiths go, I know time will show the reformation of Morrissey and Marr. If they are smart they will join forces with Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce as well. All bands reform in time. If not for the money, for the fans. Way to go Johnny, you deserve it! Boston
Marr said that if they'd reform, they would certainly write new songs, otherwise it would be just useless. The problem is, though, that Marr is currently writing and playing songs that he believes in, so he won't reform right now.
@SileCitizen ...looks like possibly, especially since appears white around his eyes. Johnny, you need no improving. Love the fair skin/dark hair combo.

Re Suedehead ;)
If John Squire was somehow in the same room as these two I'm fairly sure that the universe would halt or something.
What about Graham Coxon or Nick McCabe?🤔
Best guitarists of my life!!!!!!!!!
thanks!
God bless Johnny and Bernard

MY FAVS
Two legends
Jonny Mar n Bernard Butler!!! If John Squire walks in I think the whole room would explode!!!
2 of the best. And they both play a red 355..

Am I the only one who is more moved by Butler's playing than Marr's? I love Johnny too, but Bernard Butler is just something else entirely

Bernard’s guitar solos. No one else was better, Marr is #2, Hendrix #3 🤷♂️
My two favorite guitarists.
Johnny's accessability is admirable. He could take a pretentious aloof tack, but does not. Hero.
Bring John Squire!
Crimson moon , what an album guys !

@bedsitter1982 DITTO. How cool of you to recognize that.
What a lovely conversation between Bob Hoskins and Lyle Lovett

clown....morrissey will never be in the same room with people who took him to court
os 3 melhores guitarristas de todos os tempos:1-johnny marr,2-john squire,3-bernard butler
the SMITHS live forever
Haha, on Johnny Marr's myspace there's a photo where Johnny is impersonating a classic 'Scarface' pose for a 'Stop Gun Running'-campaign.
BUTLER IS TURNING INTO DAVID TENNANT
