The first part of this fight did have music. Its those little flutters in the background and the very slow ramping up of ambiance that gives gravity to the incredible tension that Gon is facing when first going against Hisoka. It is just enough to make the watcher feel fear and anxiety as our protagonist faces off a seemingly overwhelmingly-strong foe.
I love Hisoka’s eye movement. After Gon vanishes for a second, he assumes he went behind him, then looked back to his front. Neat detail. Great animation.
The absolute attention to detail in this fight gets me every time. Nen is always sense in concentration around the characters until Gon uses Zetsu to hide his nen so Hisoka cant detect him. The sequence at 1:06 is even better from a choreography standpoint. I've never seen a fight scene actually incorporate broken rhythm before and it really gives it a very tangible feel.
@@leighelms97 it's a concept in boxing and other combat sports. Basically when you're fighting, there's going to be a certain rhythm established between you and your opponent with the strikes, head movement, footwork, etc. At the highest levels of the sport, who wins can be almost completely determined by who controls the rhythm. And the way to do this is by recognizing your rhythm and your opponent's and then "breaking" your own in some way. It's just a way of timing your strikes and movements in a way that's difficult for your opponent to predict. And it can be used for offensive and defensive purposes. In the clip, hisoka established a rhythm that gon kept dodging so he broke it and caught gon very cleanly. Hope that helps.
I love how Hisoka remembers what he told Gon during the hunter exam and let's Gon give him his tag number back after he punches him. This will always be some of my favourite scenes in the show

There is an even more insane minimal element during this battle that Madhouse portrayed. It's when Hisoka throws his aura on the stone that will hit Gon's face. @@faustovii1085 Most of their skilled animators left to found their own studio, MAPPA. Madhouse is still a good animation studio, but they consist of new staff now.
The score for the beginning of the fight is what makes this fight so fantastic. The first minute and a half you're on the edge just watching the insane exchange. The intensity is next level.
The action here is great, but it's the background music that makes it superb. The fast tempo tempo with that sharp distorted chime causes a buildup not unlike a horror movie when you know a character is about to face the monster. Then the horns with the floor break just dial it up to 10. Well done.
0:18 Another detail no one talks about. When Hisoka swipes at Gon the camera slights goes down a little before going up again meaning Gon dodged it by ducking his head
When I recommend HxH, I always ask them to watch until Ep. 35 for this fight. If they don’t enjoy anything that far, HxH most likely isn’t for you. This fight is truly amazing.
Exactly Idk why, by like no one puts this moment on the lists of greatest intense battle scenes, even though it's probably the best fight ever. I've never enjoyed watching an anime battle as much as i did with this single one.
This is still one of the best fighting scenes in anime. The way they don’t stop fighting and try to diss each other, the way that you don’t know what the character is thinking, the way it’s completely silent, no music. That’s how you build up the intensity of a fight. I’m mostly talking about 0:00 - 1:21
More animes need to take this approach. Nothing irritates me more than a brief exchange followed by 10 minutes of exposition on HOW they pulled it off. Like bruh 😒, get back to the hand throwing
@@geewhizz8588 yeah, i know right. Also i don’t need to keep hearing their thoughts on what they’re going to do next. Sometimes it’s even more exciting if you don’t know what comes next.

00:45 i just noticed that hisoka went for slicing gon with bare hand, gon noticed that and retreated there. After that also hisoka noticed it and kept calm. damn..
I love how Togashi hinted a lot that the battle is over when Gon gets a clean hit just to not only give the punch at the first minutes, but to make after that one of the best underdog battles of all time.
the beginning of this fight is absolutely breathtaking. they could not have done it any better. the lack of music is brilliant, as well as the choreography
I love that they show the aura in this fight so that you notice when Gon has used zetsu, and then when Hisoka notices and turns around, Gon is using ten again to enhance his strength.
Man. I forgot just how awesome this fight is. This was the point when HXH went from an above average Shonen to something special, and it only got better from here.
The 1999 version had great animation, but I gotta admit this version just has better overall directing. They really nailed the intense nature of the first half of the fight
I used to be confused why people considered this one of the best fights in HxH, even if the animation is really good. Now I see that it's the attention that's put into it. The music building tension in that first minute, building towards a transition but not getting there. Then there's the fighting choreography which is so well adjusted to the sizes of Hisoka and Gon, with Gon being small and using his size and agility to weave and strafe, and to hold on to Hisoka's leg, while Hisoka dodges and ducks without moving. Then there's the force of their attacks, with Gon's punches being quick and weaker, while every one of Hisoka's hits feels heavy and decisive due to the screen shake and the slowness. You can see Hisoka is playing with Gon not only in his expression but in the way he makes light of Gon's alertness by easily distracting him and pulling a feint at 1:09. Meanwhile, Hisoka immediately notices all Gon's feints at 2:17 and barely moves to intercept him. Every part of the fight is done perfectly, without annoying comments from spectators or side characters.
hisoka really is a well developped anime character, like a really good one, i think he would fall onto the category chaotic neutral, while gon would be a chaotic good, but overall
Thats such a cool technique. Gon's flurry of feints was just to rev up Hisoko's perception then he doges to the left to test his reaction time. Thats a cool touch

2011 and the animation, colours and light are still awesome. MadHouse is an amazing studio.
Was* an amazing studio
@@DarkM00n575 Wait what? What happened with them?
@@faustovii1085 Most of their skilled animators left to found their own studio, MAPPA. Madhouse is still a good animation studio, but they consist of new staff now.
@@Manganization ohh... you can clearly realize about it when you compare Hunter X Hunter and One Punch Man S2 I think
@@faustovii1085 One Punch Man S2 was from the studio JC Staff. Madhouse did not handle season 2.
Ah yes, Hunter x Hunter the only anime who makes you miss it even when you just finished it
I swear HunterxHunter doesn’t get old bro, same feelings everytime
Cough *Attack on Titan* Cough
Only anime?
Like every anime I’ve ever watched but whatever
Parasyte, Soul Eater, Kengan Ashura, etc. man
The score for the beginning of the fight is what makes this fight so fantastic. The first minute and a half you're on the edge just watching the insane exchange. The intensity is next level.
the way hisoka literally could have killed gon but chose not to is so crazy
Ikr
I noticed that too
He didn’t want to waste all of that “potential”
no its not. ...what? hes the main character in an anime.
Easily.....
The chimara ant arc just itself a masterpiece
the beginning was the best fight scene in anime, it was on sight for a minute straight and hisoka aint even move once
Exactly
Idk why, by like no one puts this moment on the lists of greatest intense battle scenes, even though it's probably the best fight ever. I've never enjoyed watching an anime battle as much as i did with this single one.
Hisoka: "I haven't moved a step from where I began"
Gon: *TEARS UP FLOOR*
Favorite fight in HxH, you can see the determination and the way Gon constantly keeps on the offensive. Perfect representation of his character
I like how they didn’t use music for the first part it just made the scene more epic
Second only to Gaara v Rock Lee
I love when movies/tv shows for fight scenes will have minimal soundtrack under fights, and simply let the hits speak volume. Makes the whole fight a more immersive experience. 10/10
00:45 i just noticed that hisoka went for slicing gon with bare hand, gon noticed that and retreated there. After that also hisoka noticed it and kept calm. damn..
The details tho...
well...yes
He remembered he was going against a little kid
It was a test. If Gon didn't react or anticipate it properly, hisoka wouldn't have cared if he killed him there.
0:13 through 1:16
perfect music perfect sound effects perfect hits and most of all perfect voice acting
I love how Togashi hinted a lot that the battle is over when Gon gets a clean hit just to not only give the punch at the first minutes, but to make after that one of the best underdog battles of all time.
This is one of my fave scenes in the show. It's so well animated and also satisfying to see, it's so dynamic
the beginning of this fight is absolutely breathtaking. they could not have done it any better. the lack of music is brilliant, as well as the choreography
I love that they show the aura in this fight so that you notice when Gon has used zetsu, and then when Hisoka notices and turns around, Gon is using ten again to enhance his strength.
n then hunting for your dream starts to play
man heaven’s arena and yorknew hit different 😫
This is why HunterXHunter is peak. Author made the mcs kids and thought what would be the biggest enemy for them and said "yup, a predator"
Chills went down my spine when hisoka got back up
0:26 hisoka looking like “where u going b**ch”🤣
Can never forget this fight. I can watch it 10 times a day and still stay as excited.
Here after hearing it's coming back>>>>
Thats such a cool technique. Gon's flurry of feints was just to rev up Hisoko's perception then he doges to the left to test his reaction time. Thats a cool touch
Bleach Fans: Sick! We're getting a new season! Can't wait, what about yo-
Hunter Fans: 0:32
Dam this hit harder than that time my bully punched my sack
HxH fans are waiting for 6 years
Hahaha! Maybe next year?
HxH: 0:41
I love how sailor moon is commentating on this amazing fight (:
Actually the mangaka of sailor moon is the wife of togashi
BRUH HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE
ya should have hired joe rogan instead.
if only the whole anime kept this quality
Now we wait for Chrollo vs Hisoka to be animated... 2030 can’t come soon enough
Tf way to early man 2050 including hiatus
comic XL if togashi finishes the arc within the next 10 years then they might adapt and wait again like they did with the Chimera Ant arc. 🤷♂️ but who knows when he will start again
@@killuazoldyck1876 there is a chance they will redo the entire series Like before
Hey guys, now that guts has gotten off the boat, anything can happen
@@killuazoldyck1876 If it doesn't releases soon. Madhouse will never get to use their brilliant soundtrack and adaptation. I don't think anyone can do it like madhouse tho.
The intense music with white noise as gon is just firing all his attacks is so damn good
Gon is so pure. He just never backs down. I’m glad Hisoka was always there to help guide him to the next level. Even better than Bisky.
This is so well animated. Just watched this episode the other day and had to come back and watch it again here because hot DAMN that is some smooth animation, and you can really feel the tension.
The way they animated Hisoka's eyes christ they really nailed the perviness
The more this show goes on the more i realize how hard Hisoka was holding back
So we all just gonna pretend that Hisoka wasn't about to finger shank Gon @ 0:46?
He got a little more excited than he anticipated, he could barely hold himself
He learned from Kakashi lol
zDetra _ *Kakashi learned from him
Gon is legit levitating this whole match
Don’t let this distract you from the fact that bungee gum possesses the properties of both rubber and gum.
Favourite anime episode ending ever. The hit, Kiluas smirk, When the outro music hits after the staredown, to quote Hisoka "Uuuaaahhhhhhh"
This still remains among my favourite anime fights
Best anime fight ever. No useless commentary, no pauses
I love how hisoka hit gon with those high low mix ups in the beginning that was so clean
The first scene makes you feel like your are in the silent audience watching the fight but when the first point is given you either erupt with the audience or sit/lay back in amazement as to what you just witnessed , This is one of the best arcs of the series and solidified my love for Hunter X Hunter (if you watch the series for the first time this scene is even better due to build up to this moment)
Gon fights so amazingly. I can tell if he was hisoka's age or even went hard as a man and forfeited his childhood storyline, he would have the world on notice.
Fun fact : Hisoka's pants were black before he met Gon
Wait...
n o just i- no their 12 and 27 or somethin;-;
Wha-
