I just bought this Dulcimer. After being friends with Dizzi for 10 years now, it all has come full circle. Just wanted to see this video again. Thank you for letting me live with you, Dizz! Love you always. Elvya
This is absolutely beautiful. Genuinely brought tears to my eyes, this song was structured so passionately. The tempo changes, shifts in hammering patterns while morphing into seemingly new musical keys is tear jerking. Bravo! I'd love to learn how to play this one day!
This is music in it's purest form, no interference from corporate satanists, no manipulative subconscious messages, just pure peace and serenity. This is the creative mind unhindered by the white noise of modern society, beautiful.
I've watched some of your videos. I am amazed at your precision. You never mess up with all those strings all over the place. You are a genius. I only feel bad for you at tune up time! LOL. When I watch you, I truly feel like I am in the past. Your performance is magical. You are an awesome super woman! Bravissima!
Incredible that such a magnificent instrument was created in the so called "unenlightened" middle ages. Still more amazing that it isn't around today, except for a few people like this talented lady. Thank you for introducing us to this!
I've listened to this for almost all 14 years since you uploaded it here. Still my favourite dulcimer tune and the one I share when people discover the instrument and ask what is it? :)
I remember she was on a bbc 3 show when I was about 13-14 not sure what it was called it was like a cheesy version of Britain’s got talent I don’t know how I remeber this after 17-18 years lol
Beautiful! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AND POWERFUL! I learned to play keyboard when I was 13 and then Bass Guitar, 6 String Guitar, Violin, Saxophone, French Horn, Cello and I want to learn hammered dulcimer so much! It gives me tears! This is RAW AWESOME!
How beautiful. To think that people from so long ago were enjoying such things as this. And when you look at her apparel you can start to imagine how such clothing would be appreciated at such an era. How the sleeves are sort of puffy which gives her sort of an elegant softness.
Больше спасибо Вам за творчество, продолжайте пожалуйста радовать нас своим чистым и великолепным исполнением мелодий и песен и отдельное спасибо за Диззи Дульцимер!!!)));) "Dizzi Jig", очень не простое произведение...)
I still can't get over how beautiful this instrument is. Watching this video over and over makes me seriously interested in taking lessons and buying one. Where can you get lessons for something like this lol?
wow. more than 17 years has passed since I (edit: first) heard dizzi masterly playing the dulcimer and envisioning the possibilities of accomplishment. None of them came to bear fruit, not because pf the skill but because it wasnt commercial enough. still loving your renditions. )edit: I still think of her renditions of dulcimer songs when I envision certain tavern scenes in my head canon of the wheel of time, particularly in the great hunt.)
hi its dizzi here, Ive been watrching lots of bizzare comments appearing here and would politely ask people to just comment on the music not negative comments towards each other thanks x
Years ago, back in the early 90's, I bought a CD from a Cracker Barrel, and I think it was titled "Home Sweet Home". It had picture of a log cabin on the cover. It was album of folk and bluegrass music played on a hammered dulcimer. I have been in love the sound of this instrument ever since. This so beautiful. To me this type of music is theraputic. Thank you for sharing. Take care and God Bless. D.R. Storm
The cost of living in a world where everyone is not identical and has the same tastes is that a small percentage will be diametrically opposed to your likes... As Joseph Campbell once said "it's great just as it is, you just have to say yea to it..."
I'm not your average folk groupie, old greybead/skinhead, but this was instantly captivating, quirky, original, different. I do prefer the medieval songs above all. Pity I'm nowhere near your live concerts as I'd love to tell you to your faces how much I've enjoyed listening to your CD. The Chinese are exponents of the hammered dulcimer, but twee sickly sweet tunes. May your musical careers go from strength to strength. Lovely.
There is a place in a long inlet: an island forms a port with a barrier of sides, by which waves from the deep are broken, and in the gulf, further back, the wave splits itself. From here and from here vast rocks and twin cliffs tower into the heavens; beneath the peak and face of which, the safe seas are silent; Then from above, there is a scene of swaying forests, and a grove overhangs a cavern with trembling shadows, beneath the brow of the hanging crags, a cave, fresh waters within, with seats of living stone, the home of nymphs. - _Aeneid_, Book 1
Sorry to break it to you guys... but whilst being fantastically beautiful and lovely to listen to, this isn't really medieval music or like it, it's more like modern trance, melody-wise. You just don't hear chord progressions like that in traditional music. Still lovely music though, and I'm sure it would have been appreciated hundreds of years ago
its appreciated as of this moment. unfortunate lost soul trying to find fault, take the time to appreciate beautiful things, you know not all that transpired in the antiquity of time, nor does anyone! just smell the flowers today. i dont worry about yesterday. peace !
the instrument seems to allow to fuse together the rythmic part of a battery and the melodic part of a piano... Amazing ! Especially when you love both instruments
Dulcimer sounds like a latin word, it means something like sweet. Dulchi would be an Italian pronunciation, while dulsimer would be an English pronunciation
Yes. Yes it will. Quite well, actually. Chords for the main riff are B, G, A, B. Sounds great on a standard tuning rig, although I suppose Djent'ers would want to drop it down F#, D, E, F#. I don't know if dulcimer players consider that sacrilege or not; I have zero reference points down here in Texas. Seriously, I've played bass for 20 years and I'd drop my shit-life in a minute to join a metal/djent band with a dulcimer.
so many sounds. Its as if she has captured the songs of the birds in the trees and translated them so that we the deaf could understand the beauty of this world : )
Beautiful music, I listen to this at least once a day maybe 5 lol. Has inspired my guitar playing and dizzi is an amazing person. I'd love to someday meet her and get a dulcimer lesson, come find me dizzi lol pls
13 years later and this comes back to me as a recommendation. Still just as impressive now as it was then.
16 years later and it is still impressive!

Just “stumbled” into your music yesterday, and I am thoroughly enjoying it! Thank you for sharing your talents with us, even 10+ years later.
The great thing is that now everyone in the dulcimer community knows this song. It's iconic
16 years gone, one of my favourite dulcimer songs ♥️

in a perfect world, this would never stop playing.
Even without a techno beat, this fits in completely with some of the best electronic music out there right now.

Concerning the 114 who didn't like this: there's no accounting for taste, eh?
