You're right, the Santa Fe is definitely smaller than the Telluride, but they are both midsize three-row crossovers of a _similar_ size and _similar_ price range that many people will cross-shop. (Note the use of similar!) Arguably the most popular in the segment meets the newest in the segment? That's why we compare. We've got comparisons of the apples to apples Telluride/Palisade and the older Santa Fe/Sorento too, and once we can line up a Sorento vs Santa Fe, we'll surely produce that as well! Thanks for watching!
My wife is considering both of these vehicles and this comparison is excellent! And completely disagree with you that these two vehicles aren't meant for the same groups of people.. they're quite comparable, as you can see from the video.
Sante Fe is definitely better compared with Kia Sorento. But I can definitely see consumers comparing all of the three row SUVs (Palisade, Telluride , Sorento & Santa Fe). I enjoyed you pointing out many of the trim/ luxury features. Hyundai offers heated steering wheel on more trims than Kia. I also love the FREE 3 year scheduled service from Hyundai. Kia does offer more attractive & variety of interior colors. In my Midwest market , Hyundais are offered at or below MSRP vs. Kia at only Above MSRP. Thanks for a great video.
Just bought the exact same one. Got it for $40,900. Literally wouldnt change a thing and i havent seen another car with the same luxury and options for less than around 80k (except i would change the color i wish i got white because i like the contrast)
My wife has wanted a Telluride. We gota 24 as a secondary vehicle. And so far, so good. The thing has more options than anything ive ever had. It was eye opening to realize a "budget" vehicle cost over 40k nowadays. 😂
7:10 …”but the controls are manual”……he said that like it was a bad thing,...as he quickly moves the seat back and forth faster then any electric seat ever could.
I would say the Telluride first, but a buyer can compare more than two cars right? The Santa Fe, Sorento, Palisade, and Telluride are all going to be cross-shopped when they’re this similar is size and price.
Great review! I thought the Santa looked hideous It actually looks way better in this color and spec. I wonder if they will offer it with an X-Line package in the future?
Don't think its a great direct comparison other than showing a potential SF/Sorento buyer what a little more money could get you in regards to a Telly/Palisade. Don't think a Telly/Palisade potential buyer is looking backwards to a SF/Sorento less they decided they didn't need the space
Thanks for the tip, here you go: th-cam.com/video/qoIc8NAdqPM/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared Believe it or not, customers sometimes look at more than two vehicles at a time. If you think a customer spending ~$50k on a Santa Fe isn't at least a bit curious what ~$55k would get them in a Telluride, then I have to disagree with you.
New Santa fe's uodates pack a lot of features to offer folks eyeing a telluride/palisade/highlander/pilot a legitimate cross-shopping option. They're within 6k of each other at these trim levels which isn't much
@@cargurus 100% agree, we did exactly that and went with the santa fe. If the slight extra size/hp on the telluride don't matter to you (like with us), you can easily go for the santa fe because of the interior and tech.
This was a worthwhile comparison even though the direct Hyundai equivalent would be the Palisade. I do question the statement that the self-leveling suspension replaces the rear coils with air springs. I believe the coils remain, but are a softer spec because self-leveling shocks can assist under load.
The back is absolutely horrendous in person, it looks unfinished. Otherwise it's lovely. It honestly didn't need the 3rd row, you lose that amazing under area trunk storage.
I actually appreciate this comparison. I like the Telluride and Santa Fe’s interiors better than the Palisade and Sorento. So I’m comparing for which I like better. $ in top models is nominal.
My wife and I compared these two cars. Size wise it doesn't matter too much, but the santa fe felt so much lighter on its feat. And the interior look and feel was miles ahead in the santa fe calligraphy. Black on black is the way to go.
I think our 2020. Santa Fe’ is Very Quiet and smooth riding. I also have a large Luxury Car. The Santa Fe is noticeably more quiet and better riding. Not by much but I can tell.
Wireless CarPlay isn’t necessarily better…and wasn’t said whether wired still works in Santa Fe. Also someone might be confused at dealer or on website when they see Palisade too lol.
I own the Flex and I'm considering the Santa Fe Calligriphy Hybrid because Ford doesn't make the Flex anymore. I would love to see Ford bring back the Flex back 😢
Why compare these two? They aren't even in the same class. The Kia Sorento is the comp for the SF. Further, you can't get the Telluride in a hybrid. On another note, Kia doesn't come close to the safety features and tech features offered at a lower price point than the Kia.
Because they’re similar in size and price? People can compare more than two cars at a time. You really don’t think a Telluride buyer is curious if they can be happy in a slightly smaller Santa Fe, or vice versa?
@elliothaney they aren't priced the same. The MSRP on SF starts at $33,950 and Telluride starts at $36,190. Highest trim level in SF, not including accessories, is $48,395, and that's for the hybrid. The Telluride's highest trim level is $53,385. Nevertheless, the Hyundai always comes up on top for value for the money because they offer lots more safety and technology features. It's more logical in my mind, at least to compare the same in class but that's just me.
its defs interesting one for sure. i was visiting my step mum in jersey 2 weeks ago & saw few them. the back end of the new santa fe is it's worst angle. luckily here in my country, we not getting either these big suvs lol.
Them and Toyota making 2 of everything like how many 3 row and 2 row suvs it's over kill and that santa fe looks like a ford flex and the rear is the worst
Why compare. They aren’t meant for the same groups of people. One is TECHNICALLY smaller than the other. And sits below in the hierarchy.
You're right, the Santa Fe is definitely smaller than the Telluride, but they are both midsize three-row crossovers of a _similar_ size and _similar_ price range that many people will cross-shop. I love everything about the Santa Fe. Except the rear end. Every other side of the car is great.
I thought the same thing until I saw it in person.
I LIKE IT, IT IS SO DIFFERENT WITH THE WRAP AROUND TAILIGHTS, VERY COOL!

OUR 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID HAD THE DUAL PANE FRONT WINDSHIELD
TO QUIET THE SOUND, IT WORKED GREAT, THAT WAS 16 YEARS AGO.
That was a missed opportunity for the Santa fe, they should have done cooled seats in the back
What does the Palisade compete with then?
I would say the Telluride first, but a buyer can compare more than two cars right? The Santa Fe, Sorento, Palisade, and Telluride are all going to be cross-shopped when they’re this similar is size and price.
Highlander, pilot, pathfinder ascent, Acadia, etc.
a dump truck
I agree, the original design with buttons was miles better!!!!
You didn't show the remote parking on the Santa fe. 😢. Its the coolest feature
Great review and comparison.
Hyundai Kia are the new Toyota Honda. Hyundai Kia EVs are light years ahead of BMW BENZ and AUDI

Good review
I would pay additional $$$ for just a little more power in the engine on the Santa Fe
Why are you comparing apples to oranges? It's not an equal comparison, the Palisade is what you should compare to the Telluride

The loud engine noise would make it a No for me for the Santa Fe

Hey Clifford, Happy Pride Month 🏳️🌈
Buy a Toyota for quality and reliability.
Telluride isn't "classic", it's boring and generic and looks just like the other suvs. Santa Fe will not be old in five years.
They're not competitors bozo... they are options from the SAME company...
FYI, his name is Clifford, Bozo is over on another channel.
Hyundai and Kia, where broke people go to keep making bad financial decisions. Engine is 🔥 in the santa fe. Literally
