His wrist shot is so hard to stop because he doesn't "point" his stick like everyone else does. Point the end of the stick shows the goalie where the puck is going. He flicks his wrist while turning to blade just a small amount so you can never know where it's going. Amazing!!

    His method is really simple:
He starts coming in fast so the goalie comes out early, then he slows down and stick handles while waiting for the goalie to back up into the net and provide an opening for him to do a quick snapshot.
If the goalie doesn’t back up, or doesn’t give an opening, then he improvises.

Cool how they start saying "he's not good on breakaways" and as you watch it sort of makes sense. He's a calm, collected, pick his moments type of player. Notice how almost every shot here he takes his time rather than speeding down the ice. A breakaway you have to be as fast as possible to stay ahead whereas here you can take your time. It actually makes sense.

McDavid needs to put the puck in the net more often if he wants to win a Stanley Cup.
It's great to have loads of talent, but if you only score 8 goals in the playoffs, you aren't using your talent to your advantage.

We all know what Gibson said at the end there. He loves McDavid.

I dont understand why these goalies dont leave their net. There were so many opportunities for the goalie to advance to give McDavid less angles and proceed to poke check when he tries to cut in or out. They put themselves in a position where they have to rely 100% on reaction. Where otherwise you can make him move predictably and control how he advances by baiting.

Play it at full speed, all you see is McDavid skate straight in and shoot and score. Slow it to half speed, and McDavid’s stick somehow moves faster than it was at full speed. Slow that to half speed, and you see the laws of physics break. 😂

with Conor there's no set plan; he's basically living in the moment right up until he shoots...and then some.

Does the puck not move backwards? I thought that was against the shootout rules?

The puck can move backwards but the player cannot stop or go back.
