@@marcelrae7194 True but 64 goals and 89 assists would fit right in the middle of his(Gretzky )stat sheet, pretty much Gretzky, Bossy, and Liemeuix type numbers. Put it this way if Connor scored this in 2015 just his 89 assists would have won the scoring title vs Jamie Benn's 87 combined points that won the Art Ross. Sounds like Gretzky to me.

I remember back in 2012, I was in my high school library browsing Sportsnet (or was it NHL?), and I came across an article stating that McDavid could be as good as, or better, than Crosby. And back then, I didn't know much about hockey (certainly not to the degree I know now) and I just remember laughing it off as gibberish, because Crosby was something else entirely.
Well as an Oilers fan, I'm so glad we have him. I have never, EVER, seen a player who can change the dynamics of a game like he can, or at least, as frequently as he can. His hockey IQ is off the charts, able to read plays before they happen, make calculated decisions look last second, and absolutely torch players on a daily basis. This guy makes elite defenders look like amateurs on the regular.
He is ELITE and he WILL win a cup with Edmonton. It's coming.

@@joeydrummer7929 Wtf you talking about man?!? Goalies weren't good?! Martin Brodeur, Patric Roy, Hasek, many others... They weren't good? This wasn't the 60's bro, Gretzky played until 2000, Mario until 2005. You crazy my guy. If that were true then their numbers would reflect that, especially with the defense being as bad as you say. But that's not even close to true. The numbers do not agree with you. Not at all. Their goals-against average and save percentages 20-30 years ago are the exact same as goalies today. And to say that somebody is on their way to becoming GOAT is so silly. Many players were on their way. It's the longevity along with the skills and accomplishments that gives you that status. McDavid is great but he has so many more years he has to be great. He could get injured or lose his greatness like many other players that were great too. And still won't even touch these guys numbers. He is on par with Sidney Crosby. But yeah, he's a great player, nobody is saying he's not

As a longtime penguin fan his story seems similar to marry up lots of personal accolades can't get it done in the playoffs when Mario finally got that first cup it was so incredible to witness fast forward a few few decades decades later come Sidney Crosby success with Stanley cops came a lot faster for Sydney in Malkin because they had a super talented or they brought the moon eventual three Stanley Cups I haven't watched hockey in the last 3 years because the league is is Mario said in 1988 and still holds true today is the garage League full of good ISM cheap shots they do not protect and promote their star players I've only watched McDavid highlights and I did see him play one game again the Penguins a few years back and was encouraged by what I saw but he is the most exciting players into Mario Lemieux and I see that is a fan of a franchise that had Jaromir Jagr getting walk-in Sidney Crosby Chris Letang and McDavid surpasses all of them as far as electrifying crabs Crosby's describe the Round Here by a local radio guy saying Crosby is the most skilled role player ever because he gets loose Parks he works in the corners the other 200-foot game and he has the skill and speed to match and Crosby could be spectacular at times but I really like with mcdavid's doing it reminds me of Mario Lemieux which I've been yearning for since 66 retired

I don't really like Gretsky.. But one thing that stands out for me and where I feel Greatsky is better and what makes him Grestsky.. He just kept everything simple. He just put that puck on the net. And no it wasn't beautiful. He didn't have much style. Was nowhere near the too skilled players. But he just kept it simple. If your goal is to outscore your opponent. Goal of hockey is.. put the puck in the net more than the other team. That's where gretsky excelled at.. Hate him or love him. He put the puck in the net. As easy and simple as possible. He didn't need to dangle. Or learn skills. Or have to show off on his way. He just put it in the net.... And I even think.. Pavel Datsyuk is My favorite all time player and as amazing as he is.. He never had the consistency or gretsky.. Everybody in this Era. Us focused on dangles.. skills.. and I think sometimes people forget.. You don't necessarily need any of that to put the puck on the net.. Probably the best player at putting the puck on the net wad gretsky and we can't argue or deny that.... Sometimes it's better to just keep things simple and you don't need any finesse or extra effort and Gretsky was t the best

And now Eichel got a cup before him👍🏼. He also got the better of the matchup in their series this year . Played unbelievable defensive hockey against him and had 9 points in the 2nd round to Mcdavids 10 . Obviously Mcdavid is still the better player but those things I cited can’t be ignored. And when it comes to his defensive play I’d take Eichel over McDavid any day . Cassidy has single-handedly turned Eichel into an outstanding 2 way forward.
