I agree with Joel. Very poor instruction video. Very hard to follow, seems to bounce around a lot, and much of what is happening doesn’t seem to line up with the narrator. Bought a house with this lock on the front door. I can’t seem to find decent instructions for how to change the Preset code. Will likely have this thing removed. A doorlock should not be this complicated!!!!
It sounds like you need to Factory Reset the Doorlock. Resetting Lock to Factory Default: When the lock is reset to factory defaults all user codes (including the Master Entry code*) are deleted and all programming features are reset to original default settings. 1. Remove the battery cover and batteries. 2. Remove the interior side of the lock to access the reset button. 3. The reset button (see image at right) is located beside the cable adapter. 4. While pressing the reset button (minimum of 3 seconds) reinstall batteries. Release the reset button. 5. Replace the battery cover. Upon reset, Master Entry Code creation is the only option available and must be performed prior to any other programming of the lock.
This video is from 2016 but it's still a current model that you can get from Yale. To change the batteries, there's a screw holding the cover in place on the indoor portion of the lock. Once that screw is removed you can slide the cover straight up and off the lock then you'll be able to change the batteries out. It takes 4x AA batteries.
It looks like he’d never changed the code before and was trying to figure it out. How about figuring it out, then making the video?
I didn't understand the video
Thanks this was super helpful, my lock voice box was shot!
