Ladies and gentlemen this is what we call accurate testing. Dang near everything you can think of controlled in some way, leaving very few variables. I like it
This is exciting work. This leaderboard will be the place people point to when ar barrels come up in future build discussions. White Oak, Criterion, Daniel Defence, Bartlein, Geissele, and BCM barrels are what I'd like to see.
Wow, what can I say, great job Mr. Moore. I left a detailed comment on the last video, but this video needs nothing more said then great job (I'm a talker though). You said to Jonathon that you have some ideas to improve the data presentation in the future, and all I can say is you are certainly headed in the right direction. I don't know how you could make this much better, so I look forward to seeing your ideas implemented. I loved the leader board at the end, I think you are being very fair and data driven using both mean radius and overall group size, it'll be great to see that board grow. I think showing the mantis data demonstrates that you are a proficient and consistent shooter while giving the audience a metric they could replicate. I've never seen it before but I think it should become a community standard audiences should try to enforce on content creators. Every video people say they are decent shooters but we have no metric to measure how much input they are putting into the gun. The mantis system gives us something measurable, which is usually better than nothing. I think you did a good job with how you added in the chrono data. I'm very impressed. I look forward to seeing your future videos, you have clearly put a lot of thought, time, and resources into this and the great thing about youtube is that in some cases it can really be a meritocracy that rewards people who produce high value content for their viewers, and I can't think of many who deserve that recognition more than you right now in this space. Consider starting a patreon or something like that as well, you are one of the first people I've considered donating to because I feel like it would actually go to producing value over entertainment. Best regards
Again, thank you very much!! I have some ideas for better and more usable data presentation that I was not able to implement in this video, but will be included in my next video (hopefully released in 1 week, possibly 2 weeks though). I think building trust with the audience will be one of the central issues in building a channel like this. So, having that goal drives a lot of the decisions. However, that has to be balanced with time, expense, and equipment needed. I do have a plan, but I am certainly open to suggestions. Patreon is certainly a consideration, but still a ways off. I have less than 100 subscribers and I’ve put out 2 decent videos… I have a ways to go to prove myself to my audience and before I would feel comfortable asking others for money.
Just here to sacrifice a comment to the algorithm gods. I love the obsessive attention to detail, this is how you objectively review a component. Well done! Personally I’ve been a big fan of the Faxon gunner series.
Haha, you sacrifice on my behalf is much appreciated!! Also, thank you for the compliment! I also like the tapered profile of the gunner series. I didn't think I'd feel a big difference between that and a government profile. But, for me, the gunner profile makes transitions feel easier.
@@PrestonJMoore absolutely agree, the slim gunner profile really points and transitions well. I was never a fan of the thick Govt profile past the gas block shoulder. Never made sense to me.
Satisfying use of modern measuring equipment for modern rifles. Amazing videos sir. An idea toss into the ring: upper receiver face unlapped vs lapped.
Thank you! Yes, I will eventually have some AR-15 accurizing tests. Like the lapped receiver that you mentioned and bedding the barrel with loctite, etc.
@@PrestonJMoore only thing I would say is maybe go into how the barrel's twist rate affects the ammo performance, maybe put up some JBM calculations. You may have mentioned it and I missed it.
Wow, color me impressed! Both with your methodology and your thoroughness presenting it! I am curious, have you tried different magazines for one of your barrel tests? I ask since I saw a very interesting post from a guy that got quite different accuracy depending on which magazine he used. The theory was that some magazines "presents" the cartridge at an ideal height, while other doesn't not and that the bullet thus can get some imperfections as it goes over the ramps and chambers. It would be interesting to see if you, with your very thorough method, would notice something similar.
Fantastic approach to a scientific test! Have you been working on similar videos for any other barrels in the same price range as the Faxon and the Rosco? I'm in the process of building a jack-of-all gun, and barrel choice is my next major decision.
Last weekend I was shooting my new build that has a Faxon Match Series 16" Pencil, in .223 Wylde. My testing was not nearly as scientific as yours but with 55gr PPU at 100 yard while shooting from a bench, I was getting like 5-6 MOA, maybe 4.5 at best. Calculated with the same app that you're using. Which seems about in line with your testing. Ordered some 77gr SMK's, curious to see how they compare to your results.
I’m two minutes into your video and I’m exhausted! Please slow down with the narrative and allow us to absorb what you’re saying. There’s no rush. My attention span is pretty good, so you don’t have to cram everything into the shortest possible timeframe. What you do is excellent, so I’m not criticising your content.
Man... I wasn't expecting the tightest groups on average, but this was way worse than I could've imagined. 2.6 MOA with any match load would have me wondering if I was shooting ball ammo.

@@CavemanActual11 thank you!! I still have some tweaks to make to the format, but we’re getting closer!!
Most fudds: 3 shot group
Most gun tubers: 5 shot group
Henry: 9
Bloke: 10
This guy: the whole mag!
Phenomenal video!
EARNED my subscription!!!
Brother you are getting ready to BLOW up you tube. Great content and short and simple and sweet, Semper Fi
Thank you!! Yeah, things are going surprisingly well so far. We'll see if it keeps up.

Thank!! That's the goal!! Hopefully, eventually, it won't just be barrels on the list.... But that will be a while...
The most comprehensive and legit testing and review I have ever witnessed. WELL DONE SIR!!! Typical with the lighter bullets.
Love the concept of this series, this is really interesting and valuable info. Appreciated!
Thank you very much!!! More videos are on the way!

This is literally the best barrel accuracy review I have ever seen on TH-cam.

Holy shit, my guy took the 1moa all day challenge up to 11
Hot damn at the detail here and the attention to condensing it. Subscribed dude please keep it up.
Thank you!! The data presentation on this vid was bit rough, it'll be improved on the next video. Thanks for the sub, more vids are on the way!!

Outstanding, thank you
I appreciate your attention to detail.
Love what you are doing and the detail. Keep it up. Hope you make it to a million subs
You impressed the hell out of me
Thank you!! There is more on the way and it will be better than this video!!
Very thorough! One of the best tests I've seen on youtube!
Dude. Great job on this video, but your also one of my new favorite channels 🤙🏽
Thank you!! More videos are on the way!
If there’s anyway you could do a Sionics and run some ball ammo through it
These tests are the most thorough I’ve ever seen great work and thank you!
Absolutely phenomenal video. Please keep them coming.
I request a Tavor x95.
These are awesome videos, good work 👍
Fantastic test and testing methodology! Could you repeat the same test with the match faxon barrel? Also subscribed

Thank you!! My next video will be on a Ballistic Advantage barrel. It will be out in the next couple days.
the actual first reason is because that's what hornady says to do, and now i ound really smart for saying that.
curious how the "match" gunner series compares
I have shot a lot off shoots with a jp15 18 barrel with the aluminium cooler on the barrel. That would be nice for testing the are accurate.
Great video! I am wondering how their Match grade gunner barrels perform. If you have one of these in your arsenal i would love to see the results.

BCM comparison! Most online reviews are showing 2.5-4”. Interested compared to your criterion review.

Please test PSA and put this to bed once and for all. Subbed.
Yeah, I think PSA would be an interesting barrel to shoot. Thanks for the sub!!!
AAC ammo please! Great video
😊

Match loads can be worse than ball ammo depending on what the barrel likes. This comment is kinda clown ish
Bra freaking VO
77SMK = gold standard for AR15 barrels. If they don't shoot 77SMK good, it likely won't shoot anything else better.
Yes, 77gr SMK's are usually hard to beat.
This is kinda what I’ve seen from Faxon and why I wouldn’t buy their barrels
Subtract your three worst shots and give a 90% accuracy rating
