  • In this video, Mr.E overviews the top features he loves and dislikes (hate is a strong word) about the LulzBot Taz Sidekick 289 and 747 3D printer.
All in all, this is a fantastic machine which is why its Mr.E's preferred 3D printer for under $2000. Since its original release in 2021, LulzBot has made a number of upgrades to the sidekick, which you learn more about at the link here: • 3 years of the LulzBot...

Honestly I'm glad companies like LuzBot and Prusa are still in business, they are definitly pioneers in 3D printing, but I think the days of building a 3D printer with 3D printed parts might be past its time. Just because you can doesn't mean you do. And I see LuzBot has SOME printers now using 1.75mm filament. WOW how radical.

That's a valid perspective, and I think its just a different philosophy personally. As we enter more into the world of 3D printing for the average consumer, I think you're right and 3D printers will continue to move towards injection molded parts and manufactured products. But for the users who want to tinker or dabble with their own creative freedom, fortunately brands like Prusa and LulzBot are still around.

Sorry, no way would I pay the price for a LulzBot for what you get in this day and age.

    $1K and "above average printing?"

Significantly for print quality, but I really prefer this printer for the durability and versatility. The quality you get with any material is very impressive in my opinion.

@@MrErdreich Copy that...I'll try my hand with the SV07 Plus but will def keep this in my forehead for a second printer; liking the durability and versatility mention!!

Not having built in USB Support is ridiculous, but that is what you get when you use the cheap RepRap 'smart-controller' that are notorious for burning out. For the price I would expect at least an enclosure and USB support. The build area is nothing to brag about either. Simply put: this machine is overpriced.
