    Super helpful. Looking to get a video doorbell for my grandparents who don't find it as easy to get to the door these days. It certainly seems like the Nest Hello is the most user friendly in terms of them being able to speak to whoever's at the door. Having to click a notification would be too much, but an automatic feed, such as to a Nest Hub, seems perfect!

    I have had the Eufy for over six months now and it's great, there are zero downsides in my opinion. I have two Nest Outdoor security cams and while they're great for what they do, I hate the fact that they have to be dedicated hardwired and the monthly subscription fee is a must. Hopefully Eufy will come out with a rival outdoor security camera and I'll just sell the Nest cams.

    I just installed the nest doorbell and I love it. The 24/7 recording is what sold me on it. I've had a motion system around my home for a few years now and it often missed or didn't record enough footage. I'll be upgrading my entire system to nest over the next few months.

      The nice thing about Ring though is that they offer an alarm system with professional monitoring for only $100 per year (by far the cheapest), which can be offset by the discount you get on your home insurance. And the professional monitoring subscription includes recording for an unlimited number of cameras. So if you were already going to get the alarm, there’s no extra cost if you get a Ring Doorbell and want recording.

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      While I agreed with this sentiment at first, the monthly fee is basically a convenience and features fee. We have a Ring Pro and for the $30/year, I get 24/7 recording, a pretty nicely made app and a great "rapid ring" companion app that just launches you straight into live view of the camera. I get notifications and am looking at live view before a person reaches my door and it's been rock solid reliable and fast with notifications. Image and recording quality could be better but the other features and reliability are more important to me personally.
      Eufy are the only company that I know of who do local storage and no cloud subscription needed. I haven't used their doorbell but Life hackster's channel last year indicated that the doorbell stops recording if you activate 2 way talk. I hope this has been fixed but haven't read up on it. I have the Eufy 2k pan and tilt indoor cam and it's been fantastic and significantly cheaper than Arlo/Nest/Ring indoor cams.

    I have had the Eufy wired doorbell for over 2 months and it's really great most of the time. Some problems I have is with its motion detection. It can detect a person at my door no problem. I person on the sidewalk well then it doesn't detect anything. If I turn the sensitivity up it will detect every car going by my house but still not people on the sidewalk. It's not a deal-breaker but certainly not what I was expecting. The other issue is the wife and I will disable motion alerts and the doorbell will still push alerts to our phones. So that meant I had to turn the motion detection sensitivity down. At the end of the day, it's a great doorbell with no hidden fees or annual subscription. I also like that my video data isn't uploaded to the cloud and remains secured at my home. I highly recommend this doorbell.

    I've had the eufy doorbell for about 2 years. I really do not have any issues. My main problem/concern is that they do not respond to emails, and they have never updated the software (firmware, or app). Software-wise the issues I find are - they do not automatically delete old alerts, so it will fill up your phone and you have to go day by day to delete.
    WiFi range has not been an issue for me. It has never gone offline. Really good product.

    I’ve been watching a few of these doorbell tests and this was by far the most comprehensive and real world applicable. I’ve been leaning towards the Nest Hello and from this video still have it at the top but the Eufy definitely seems worth a look. Thanks for the time that went into this.

      Look carefully. If motion notification matters to you, pass.

    • @Benvos
      @Benvos 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jimichan why is that? The best offers motion notification based on a preset area. Where I live the biggest reason for purchase is deliveries (they’d press the doorbell) and simply as a doorbell. My front door doesn’t sit on a busy area so the only people that pass it are delivery drivers.

    • @jimichan7649
      @jimichan7649 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Benvos The Eufy does not give motion notification through the chime at all. It only works as a doorbell. Motion is detected well, but triggers a notification "ding" on your cell phone through the app. We get deliveries almost every day, and they almost never ring the bell. Since I don't carry my cell phone around with me while at home, I always miss the Eufy motion notification.
      It seems like an easy software modification to get the chime to ring to announce motion, but Eufy seems indifferent. Note that they've been promising to allow saving video to usb or PC for over a year with no action yet. You can download it to your phone, though.

    • @SmartHomeSolver
      @SmartHomeSolver  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks Scott! Eufy doesn’t support 24/7 recording right now. it seems like that they are aware of people wanting that and possibly working on that feature from what it says on their website. I know they are planning on having expandable storage on the base station so hopefully some updates will make the Eufy even better. Right now Nest is doing a great job with it though.

    • @CaptainDawg02
      @CaptainDawg02 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrDvdz - Ring has been outstanding and for long-term reviewers still gets the highest rating on reliability (wired versions of their doorbell, floodlight, and spotlight camers). Not sure why you say it's "junk". It's been out longer than any one on this reviewed list (it was the original doorbell camera), so for it still to be in the tops and be 3-4 years older than everyone else on the list is pretty amazing. Says more about the competition than it does about Ring.

    • @anekinoo7
      @anekinoo7 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      CaptainDawg02 ring has relied on their reputation and quality hasn’t gotten much better. I had ring doorbell 1 and 2. Tested the pro but isn’t much better giving how high the price it was and compared to competitors. App isn’t getting much better and loading is slow. Other companies now has better quality and is far cheaper. Couple years ago I would have recommended ring but these days it’s probably on the bottom of my list.

    • @CaptainDawg02
      @CaptainDawg02 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@anekinoo7 - from an ecosystem perspective, it's still one of the cheapest in the game in total cost for how much integration it has, professional monitoring with no contract including a long cloud storage, and equipment reliability (they still have some of the highest marks on how well their wired solutions hold up outdoors). The Pro is significantly better than the battery powered options, so not sure why you didn't think it wasn't that much better. Not to mention their technology built into their solutions is older by 2 years to the next closest competitor.
      There are many more brands that are below Ring for me (especially Nest).
